I imagine the family would have never wanted to provoke a person who seemed to be uncomfortable in social situations by asking them to leave. I imagine family was just happy to have everyone together and would not want to make waves. Everyone and every family has a breaking point. I'm sorry if this seems off topic...I'm truly just brainstorming.

I must say I find it peculiar that a poi has so many female friends willing to assume the child charges are completely false and take the poi's word as true. I mean no disrespect. It is true that there are innocent people who are falsely accused. I just think of myself in that situation and imagine I would...at least for a while....take a step back and just observe. Doesn't mean I would automatically jump to guilty. Just means I would want to allow myself time to breathe and process everything. I myself have been so sure of MY reality before....only to realize it was just wishful thinking.

Usually in child cases, there are thousands of pornographic pictures of pre-adolescent children found on the defendants computer. In those cases, there is no doubt about guilt. It is impossible to accidentally accumulate that many pictures of this nature. In JT's case, there are only 7 photographs that possibly involve minors that were found on his wife's computer (that several people have used). Based on this information, there is no case at all. There could be many explanations for the images:
1. someone else downloaded them
2. JT accidentally clicked on a wrong link and the images entered the cache of his browser
3. the images don't involve young looking adults, no minors

From what I have seen so far, it does not seem to me that JT is a pedophile. In a way he is the opposite, because when his daughter was hosting a sleepover with classmates, he wanted to get out of the house to hunt - the opposite of what a pedophile would do. Also, a pedophile would not be caught with just 7 questionable pictures.

So, usually in child cases there is no doubt at all. In this case, there is a reasonable doubt. In fact, based on what we know so far, he seems to be innocent. However, the prosecution has not revealed all that they have yet, so everything can change.

Trojan, I feel so bad for you and the rest of Julia's family. I hope one day that your daughter will realize that you have come to us as a truth seeker and without malice-and with that we will also support you in your time of need and be here to listen when you are frustrated or angry. It is hard on any family when a loved one dies, let alone tragically murdered at such a young age. The abject horror and pain is more than the human soul can bear. It can fracture a family, or it can bring you all back together. KT- I know you want justice and peace for your Julia. We want to help make this happen. In the end, none of what is written here matters. None of what any of us think matters. Family matters. In the end when you are old and grey, your family and your memories are what you have left. I didnt know Julia, but from all of the information I gathered about her life, it seems to me that she cherished family. We absolutely welcome you to Websleuths if there is anything you can enlighten us about (obviously without jeopardizing Julia's case).

But it seems the media has actually been very quiet about the cases. The only mention in media of being a POI was at the time of arrest. Since then, I have seen nothing. Am I wrong?

Second and third hand information is all we get here. The truth is most likely somewhere in the middle. 4ist shares what she has been told, as do K and JT's friends.

Quite likely, it is that detective's natural stance to be friendly to people, at least on the surface. Does not mean anything untoward, IMO.

I've not seen or heard anything further in the media regarding POI.

It's rather sad how reputations can be destroyed instantly because of public comments made to turn public opinion a particular negative way.

I don't think this would be the first time LE would feed information to families and then sit back and watch the family implode to see what's left standing, if anything.

This extended family seems pretty well destroyed. IMO

IIRC, it's Jim Turnquist's defense attorney who has said there are "only 7 photos" so let's take that with a giant heap of salt. Not to mention that there is an entire laptop missing. Regardless of our differing opinions, the details will come out soon.

Hi All,
I just received a 5 minute phone rant from my daughter. Evidently she has had access to this web site and doesn't like the comments that some people have posted! "Some people are posting lies and she even accused me of doing it." Again, I ask about her and JT doing formal statements to LE as requested recently. Her comment was that they did these along time ago. She then called me and my wife a few choice names and then hung up again. Another fun night! ! ! !
Please keep investigating and theorizing as much as you can. All the information helps the rest of us think about lots of things we may never have thought of. I appreciate all the help everyone has been. My daughter is free to join WS and express her information and her theories.

Seems to me that the original pretrial in Circuit Court was rescheduled because the state obtained more evidence and JT's lawyer wanted more time to examine it. The next delay was because JT's lawyer was involved in a murder trial across the state. That trial is done and the suspect got convicted of 2nd degree murder. His lawyer should be available for the next pretrial which as of last week it was scheduled for this Friday.

Could Julia have been poisoned, or drugged in some way? Some drugs affect breathing and may lead to asphyxiation.
The toxicology report was inconclusive. I don't know if there are any experts in toxicology here, but I wonder if there
is a drug that could have the asphyxiation affect, and that is difficult to detect after the person has been dead for 2 days.

Good questions. I personally know a bio-chemist who is a PhD and wanted to see the report. I asked and was told that it will not be released to the public right now. That makes me wonder what's in that report.

Isn't that what LE did?

The day LE went to the Turnquist home to get their computers they would not answer the door. The police knew that they were both home, both of there cars were there.
That was the same day that LE went to Grandma Roses house. They actually took Carrie's/ Roses lap too, not Roses desk top. So LE has never taken Roses desk top, which is now Marcus's computer.
I know that in December 2014 Kim, JT and Jennifer met with LE at the Monroe location. After they met with LE, a detective did go to the Turnquist home, it was a cordial visit until they were told that he was there to take the computer, LE did have a warrant, and at that time took the only computer that the LE was made aware of that Kim & Jim had.
Unfortunately I do Not understand why Detective Yuhas did not take the Turnquist computers sooner, we had been told that early in the investigation that Kim told LE that they didn't have one, don't really get that either, because she had a smartphone!

To dazed, I don't understand why it took so long either...... Really to bad that the Turnquist didn't help LE early on when they knew that going through any family computers would have possibly helped in finding Justice for Julia. And I wonder why the lead detective for the first year that Kim talked to and saw frequently didn't suggest to Kim & JT that it might help the investigation to have a look at their computers.
Side note: the day that LE went to the Turnquist home, and they did not open the door to LE, or should I say answer the door when LE knew that both Kim & JT were home, was the same day that Supposedly JT hired a lawyer. So if that's cooperating.... I really don't get it!

In December of 2014 LE served the search warrants for his electronic comm. devices at their home, the same day he barricaded himself in the Do Jo. The laptop the Turnquist seem to have hidden from LE 2 yrs ago, according to 4ist up thread, is still missing, so you're not confused.

That is when JT got very angry, Kim was upset when Jim left saying that he was going to end this.... She went up to the State Farm at the corner had them call 911 she was very upset afraid of what JT might do... And that same day he barricaded himself in the Do Jo, LE brought him to the hospital, next day he was arrested on the child .
JT's computer that he received as a gift from Jennifer and Julia is missing in action, according to LE.

See that's not at all confusing right FindHG ;-)

It doesn't make it right or accurate IMO.

It's the police, not the media, who is "telling us", and they do have inside sources. And we also have inside sources, as you can see on the thread. And Turnquist seems to have had some degree of rational motive, mental problems that could have magnified those motives in his head, means (martial arts training and knowledge of where Julia would be), and opportunity (the time between when the others in his house went to sleep, and when they woke up) to have murdered Julia. And LE appears to have cleared everyone else they could find to look at, and they aren't satisfied with Turnquist's lack of cooperation, and no one has provided an explanation for that lack of cooperation. That doesn't mean that we are in a position to judge Turnquist's guilt or innocence, or that we shouldn't keep looking for facts that could support alternate theories, but it does clearly qualify him as a POI.

Since the family had a "feeling" about Jim all along, why in the heck was it encouraged for JT, KT and the twins to move in together early on? Was it to systematically clean house and move on for other family members?

On one if my visits up to MI, I personally was asked by Kim to PLEASE convince her Dad to allow JT to move in with her. Her exact words were 'it may be my only chance for happiness'. So her Dad let JT move into their home. Trust me neither her Dad nor I ever encouraged them to move in together. It was their decision. When Kim's Dad and I were to marry, with two of the adult children still living at home, one of them being Kim and her new live in partner Jim T. Plus her twin daughters, and the youngest son was high school. We wanted to help as much as we could and did encourage Kim and the oldest son that it was time for them as adults to move on with their lives, become independent. We did pay to help them get started on their journey into living on their own. Kim and JT seemed to have decided to stick together, so off they went out on their own, soon were engaged to be married and hoped to live happily ever after.

Dazed, I don't think it is a bad thing that Kim and Yuhas were friendly. But did he solve the murder by being friendly? A 'friendly' detective is nice, but I would think that Kim would want one that left no stone unturned and found who murdered Julia, that is what we all are wanting.

They took Grandma Roses computer, on the same day that LE went to Kim & JT' s house, and the Turnquist didn't let them in.
