MI MI - Kevin Graves, 28, Electric Forest Music Festival, Rothbury, 1 Jul 2018

I just saw a Danelle Hallan video on this case, and although the girlfriend was acting suspiciously (according to the info in the video; I'm not sure about Danelle's sources), I think the likely thing that happened is what Kevin's acquaintance said above. I think he "prepped" for drugs, stopped taking his meds, and went into psychosis. As to what happened after him running away, I'm not sure, but I imagine you can live for years on the streets without any proper documentation. I can only hope he's still alive and he can get back to his family soon.

According to MLive, up to 50,000 people attend Electric Forest Music Festival each year. The "multi-genre" festival is held at the 2,000-acre Double JJ Resort.

On the fifth anniversary of his disappearance, Kevin's family put a missing persons billboard near the festival entrance hoping it would garner new leads about his disappearance, MLive reported. The outlet also reported that ground and water searches were previously conducted to no avail.

“You wake up in the morning thinking about him,” Kevin's father, Gary Graves, told WOOD-TV. “You go to bed thinking about him. I dream about him.”

Through the years, Kevin's loved ones have continuously posted updates on the Help Us Find Kevin Graves Facebook page, which has nearly 8,000 followers.

"I don’t think I met anybody who didn’t like Kevin, he was big-hearted," Kevin's mother, Kathy Graves, told MLive.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to his location.

"We haven’t given up and we won’t give up until we have an answer,” Gary told MLive.

Remains have been found in a wooded area near the Double JJ Ranch northwest of Rothbury. No confirmed identification.

December 31, 2024

GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Human remains have been discovered not far from where an Oakland County man vanished during the Electric Forest music festival in 2018.

Police did not disclose whether the remains are believed to be that of Kevin Graves, a 28-year-old Oakland County man who went missing in 2018 while attending Electric Forest music festival in Rothbury in Oceana County.
A positive identification of the remains has not been made pending autopsy results and additional investigation, state police said.
The remains were found Monday, Dec. 30. State police recovered undisclosed “additional evidence” on Tuesday.

Graves vanished July 1, 2018, after attending the festival with his girlfriend at the 2,200-acre Double JJ Resort. His family has handed on flyers and used a billboard near the festival in an effort to find him.

[His father, Gary Graves, said police are “99 % sure” remains discovered on private property near the festival grounds by two hunters on Monday, Dec. 30, are those of Kevin Graves.

“They said they found his wallet, his phone and he had a (festival) wristband on,” Gary Graves told MLive on Jan. 1. “They just got to do an autopsy and dental records and everything and then they’ll get back with us.”]

At least his family can finally lay him to rest and gain some closure. Prayers up for his family and friends. I wonder what the autopsy will reveal. :(

Interesting perspective! I agree when illicit drugs/medications are involved, there are any number of negative adverse effects. Thinking on the flip side, if Kevin did NOT discontinue his SRRI, the combo of MDMA and SSRI could lead to serotonin syndrome which could be potentially fatal depending on the doses involved.

I haven't read about MDMA inducing any sort of dissociative fugue state or long-term amnesia to the point where a person would forget his identity and disappear. IMO, it's unlikely something like that happened to Kevin.

Sadly, I believe he is deceased somewhere near the music festival location.
You were right unfortunately. Kevin is dead and his remains were near where the music festival was held.

Graves’ father, Gary Graves, said police visited his home Monday when the discovery was made.

“With the dogs and everything they claim they had running around there looking, I can’t see how we missed him,” Graves, 80, told MLive.com. “But I can’t say for sure until I know exactly where it was at.”

May Kevin rest in peace. I'm glad his family knows.

Seems like this turned out to be the most likely outcome all along.

We often get caught up in theories and conspiracies and conspiracy theories. Its usually not that complicated. This case is a good reminder of that. A poor search is a much more likely culprit than some grand plan to run away from his life.

Rest well Kevin. His discovery is eerily similar to that of Paul Miller in JTNP, overlooked and found nearby.
