Geeze, I wonder if would get leniency after a beating with permanent damage because I said "I'm sorry"? I doubt it.

Another one is awaiting his slap on the wrist until they can ascertain whether or not he was "remotely" enrolled in school.

Probation for another of these thugs.

Ethnic intimidation charges were dismissed, and the judge was "embarassed" that he let Mr. Utash' brother go as far as he did in his statements. The judge was "embarassed"? I'm "embarassed" FOR this judge? and what passes for justice in this country.

The animals really are running the zoo in Detroit.

DETROIT -
A man convicted of attacking Steve Utash has been sentenced to three years of probation, with the first six months served in jail.

Judge James Callahan handed down the punishment Thursday to 19-year-old Latrez Cummings. Callahan sentenced Cummings under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which mean that if Cummings completes his probation without another conviction, his record will be wiped clean...

Last defendant sentenced in Utash beating gets probation, 6 months in jail

Detroit — Latrez Cummings, the remaining defendant in the April beating of suburban motorist Steve Utash, received three years probation but will serve the first six months in jail.

The 19-year-old learned his sentence Thursday before Wayne County Circuit Court Judges James Callahan. He also received a jail credit of 39 days.

Cummings was expected to be sentenced July 10 but Callahan wanted more information about 19-year-old Cummings’ school attendance before making his decision.

Cummings has said he is registered at Ferndale Alternative school but Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey said Cummings hasn't attended school since March.

Cummings said he didn’t stay in school because of issues with his computer and couldn’t do his homework...
