I agree nurse, you said the media got ahold of the police report early on in this case? Did we ever get to see it or were they reporting what they saw or read?

Yes... they did but they never released it to the public... however they did read FROM it in the reports. Let me see if I can go back and find some of those links for you

Elle, here are just a few that describe the child witness statements. These statements actually led to the SWS being served on GK. The documents that the media got a hold of (with the child statements being the probable cause) were the SWS. These articles also describe what was found in the hotel room and Roy Lee Smith's van.

Doesn't sound too harsh to me, I grew up with the belief that our children are not our own. My parents told me when I became pregnant with my own first child that a gift is being entrusted to me for a short time. A gift from heaven and it was my job to love honor and lead this child with the knowledge that if I made mistakes I would have to answer to them, and harshly!

I see what you are saying as well. I think the last time an adult other than her mother saw her was at 3:30. We have to keep in mind that all of those little children were outside playing unsupervised.... to include the little boy from upstairs she had been playing with earlier. There are actually four child witnesses so far that I know of in this case... all children out playing unsupervised. I think that is partially a reason for the timeline being as clear as mud. There were no adults around to see anything. Neveah WAS seen though... by her little friends outside.... Their complete statements are in the police report but that has not been released yet... ((altho the media somehow got a hold of it early on in this case))

One of the parents of the boy quoted in the police report has already publically stated that his statement was not true, that he didn't see anything. I am not sure that we know what kids were outside or that their parents weren't watching them. The two kids originally quoted said one thing, then changed it radically, and now one has been retracted completely. That is why I mentioned manipulation of the kids, or misreporting, not sure which.

The girl's mother reports Nevaeh was playing in the parking lot of the apartment with a friend. The friend later went home. When the girl's mother came out to check on her, she was gone.

Jennifer Buchanan said she went outside to tell her daughter not to go near the road, but when she got there the girl was gone.

Police found her scooter in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

She went out to tell Nevaeh not to do that, and was unable to find her.

She became scared when she found the scooter after more than a half hour of searching and called police to report the child missing.

Ms. Buchanan said she was good friends with Kennedy for about two years and denied they were dating.

He called her regularly in the mornings, she said, but the last time she had seen him was four days ago. Ms. Buchanan said she knew he was a registered sex offender.

She said she called Kennedy about 8 p.m. Sunday to tell him the police wanted to talk to him.

At a press conference by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office this morning, Lt. Todd Opperman asked the public to call investigators if they noticed anything between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday.

Elle, thank you for the link to that video. It was very interesting and also showed how close the concrete place is to the motel where George was shacking up. It was also a good shot of the type of fencing surrounding it... easily cut with the wire snips of a multi fishing tool.

Of course all of these pieces could be nothing as well. I personally find all the coincidences around George Kennedy to be more than merely coincidental. Which ever way this pans out I hope LE can find the glimmer of justice in this soon.

Thank you nurse, I never read those reports before. How sad and horrible for those children. I don't quite understand why the parents would retract the statements of children. Why would a child lie? Especially about something as heinous as what they reported. In my opinion if it is true that certain statements were retracted it COULD be a possibility that some were trying to protect the identity or safety of the first children to report what they saw. I don't think we will know all the facts in this case until we get some information commented on by law enforcement. It was reported that there were no outward signs of trauma to Nevaeh's little body so the stabbing reported by the children would not initially be confirmed. We will just have to wait and see.

I think the children were interviewed more than once. I am sure that the "daddy George" part is what cemented those SWS.

As for why they talked about stabbing, etc.. that is just strange. Perhaps the questions were leading.

What I DO find to be interesting is that they used the name, "daddy george" and than Jennifer... at least five days later or so..... tells media that George was a "father figure" to Neveah. How would these playmates know Neveah called him daddy george? It doesn't sound like something they could pull out of a hat... which is really sick and twisted. She was calling an RSO "daddy George"... another sick thing is that the kids knew (at least by sight anyway as they said it was daddy george that took her into the woods) George Kennedy too!

((aside)) I did not see where the search warrant statements were retracted. I only saw the boy's mother state that "he didn't see anything". If the children DO retract their statements officially than what would that do to the search warrants and any possible evidence recovered during those searches if Kennedy ends up being "the one"? Does anyone know? The witness statements were the probable cause for the SWS on George Kennedy... which than led to the van he was driving... which belonged to the other person of interest, Roy Lee Smith.

Thank you so much Steadfast. We do need a timeline and we need a timeline supported by trusted media links (yes there is mistakes in information by the media most of the time).

Although it is interesting to bring heresay and rumors of what is happening in the area that have been shared by those that are local to the area, from other websites. It's something that isn't up to WS standard IMHO.

I have had a hard time following this thread as of late because of this, and don't get me wrong...I am very interested in what locals say on other websites because there are times when in the past in other cases it has proven to be accurate and reported by the media at a later date.

We need the facts though, and at the risk of sounding like I'm chastising anyone---rest assured I'm not in any way shape or fashion doing that---we need to be careful of not notating that we are discussing a rumor or heresay seen in other places so that it isn't accidently taken as fact.

It is also a violation of TOS to assign a nickname or to refer to a player in a case by anything other than their given name. I do understand that emotions run high and it's difficult not to express that anger and frustration. Just giving a heads up because a violation in TOS can result in a time out from posting or even a ban from the this website.

I'm not a moderator but thought I would share some concerns about these issues because I think Websleuths is one of the finest boards of it's kind on the internet because of these standards and TOS.

Prof mentioned a man by the name of Richard N. stating he saw Nevaeh riding her scooter hours before she went missing.

Not only is the girl's identity still in limbo; so is her cause of death. Officials from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office said results likely won't be released this weekend. The girl hadn't suffered obvious outward trauma to readily explain what killed her.
