Stead, Angelwhocares ((thank you angel)) has also posted a ton of media links on the astro thread if that helps you out. And thank you for the compilation/timeline!

Kat, I agree!
I must say the Astro thread has been very accurate. Impressive. :)

Authorities said Nevaeh's family might go this weekend to the Wayne County morgue, where the girl's body underwent an autopsy Friday, to positively identify her. Family members said Nevaeh never had X-rays taken of her teeth so dental comparisons aren't possible.

A Monroe County Sheriff's deputy took items from Nevaeh's home -- such as a toothbrush and play telephone -- to see if fingerprints could be pulled for identification purposes, the Free Press reported today.

If they are having such a difficult time getting an ID, take a photo of her and show it to the family. Take the shirt and have them verify it is her shirt. They are really dragging this out. It doesn't have to be so complicated for Gosh sakes!

what is it gonna take to get MANDATORY tough laws on these nasties?

something to happen to our Prez's child? or senator's .. or a well know judge?
Their children are watched by the Secret Service and well paid Nannys. ;) Not going to happen.

Somehow I don't think family will want to see Nevaeh as she is now. But LE certainly has a picture of her.
And the DNA will match as well.
And the clothing appears to be hers.
I think LE just has to have everything 100 percent.

Thank you nurse, I never read those reports before. How sad and horrible for those children. I don't quite understand why the parents would retract the statements of children. Why would a child lie? Especially about something as heinous as what they reported. In my opinion if it is true that certain statements were retracted it COULD be a possibility that some were trying to protect the identity or safety of the first children to report what they saw. I don't think we will know all the facts in this case until we get some information commented on by law enforcement. It was reported that there were no outward signs of trauma to Nevaeh's little body so the stabbing reported by the children would not initially be confirmed. We will just have to wait and see.
Children around the age of 7-8 years old have a vivid imagination. The little boy was traumatized by the sudden loss of his best friend. He was only saying what he probably thought happened, imo.

Bless his little heart. It sounds like he is taking this very hard according to his parents. The mother did recant his story saying he really did not see anything.

The family MIGHT go to the morgue this weekend??? I'd like to know why they haven't been there already unless her body is so decomposed it would barely be recognizable. I agree, SS, I can't see why she hasn't positively been identified yet. I can understand having to rely on DNA testing and not having the results back yet, but something still seems wrong with this picture. :waitasec: MOO

SS I am hoping and praying they don't have to go. Please let there be another way to identify Nevaeh :praying:

If she was murdered on the day of her disappearance she is in such a state of decompostion that no parents should have to witness of their child. (Even given all the variables, the stage would most likely include color changes and putrification~~~ I"m sorry but i have to post that so that ppl that are uninformed about human decomp can understand what these parents might be facing)

Please let them be able to keep remembering Nevaeh as she was during life.

O/T I speak from a certain amount of experience in that I had a direct family member pass away and wasn't found for a very long time. I was required to clean up the area he was found in...it's something you NEVER forget. EVER.

Now family is also getting 'suspicious'..:cop:

Nevaeh's family members told the Detroit affiliate that they are even more suspicious now of George Kennedy, a 39-year-old registered sex offenderand friend of Nevaeh's mother, who has been named a person of interest by Monroe County police.

Kennedy, who is jailed on probation violations for simply being associated with a child, works with cement in the area where the body was found, according to the family's statements to WXYZ.

Yes, they are dragging it out for a reason. Granted, she could be decomposed beyond recognition with swelling and blood pooling in the face. Still, why did they wait until today to gather DNA from her home? They should have gotten her toothbrush the day she was found and had it processed for a match. Makes no sense they are taking days to round things up. For one thing, it is horrible for the family not to have this done as quickly as possible. Shame on them!

That's my thought dream. I also have yet to find a single "gray" or "grey" living on N Monroe St.

The grandmother has stated she has to see her before she will believe it is Nevaeh. She is going through such denial which will pass. I wouldn't advise it either. The memory would erase the living child she watched getting her little diploma days before she was murdered. She will see it in her nightmares and have to live with it forever.

Usually in such cases, a family member who is not in the immediate family will go to identify the body. While it is still very difficult, it isn't their child.

I am sorry you had to do such a horrific chore. :( I don't think I could do it.

Do we know how old this woman is? Wasn't there speculation this is the person he had attacked at 13 years old or something?

Nancy Drew, whatever happened about that guy that was running the myspace scam? Do you know if LE checked him out?

Hi SS, I understand that kids have vivid imaginations, my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar mania and I have heard some pretty outlandish stories. But, retelling of a child stabbed in the stomach by a bad man is far more than a vivid imagination in my opinion. If the children around those parts are so unsupervised that things like this are being talked about and told ...this is more scary than I thought. Department of Children and Family Services should be looking into why a 7 or 8 year old child would say their friend was stabbed in the stomach by a bad man, I mean honestly, I find that statement disturbing. In my opinion no child should have to witness even a story of something like that at 7 or 8. It seems a lot of the kids in this apartment complex went unsupervised a lot. Or maybe I just have a sheltered view of how life should be for a child.....I don't know.:twocents:

The only thing I can come up with on the DNA samples is that whatever they took from the home originally didn't work as a sample? I was under the impression that stuff was collected when a missing child report was filed?

I believe that the collected the toothbrush and toy to compare fingerprints. I am sure they already have her DNA since they used it to compare to the blood found.

I think it probably generates out of two things:
a. I think the adults around the complex were immediately talking about GK taking her.
b. the stabbing in the stomach could have been in a show or movie he watched recently.

Poor guy probably really wanted to do something that will help bring her home.
