The live report just said the son is 15 and his father is horrified. They smelled the smell of death, and that stays with you the rest of your life.

I'm pretty sure the 15 year old said it was his dad and grandpa who found the body.

In the live news report they said that Quik-crete was poured over the body in the shallow grave.

EDIT to add: They were led to the grave because of the odor. The father chipped away some of the concrete and found skin underneath.
who ever did this.... the method of burial..... is low IQ and possibly disorganized. I hope it leads them straight to the perp!!!!

I'm very thankful they found her, but I can only imagine what they are going through tonight. :(

The son also said his dad told him it was a thin layer of cement covering the body.

No, you don't even have to stir the stuff. Dig a hole, dump it in, and pour in water. The Quik-Crete absorbs the water and sets up fairly quickly.

The body was not in the water, the perp did not expect it to sink. He buried Nevaeh in a shallow grave near the water and covered her body with Quik-crete.

Actually, he/she could have dug an oblong hole in the bank of the water, placed the body in it, poured the quick-crete in it and used the water from the river. Could have all been done onsite there.

In the live news report they said that Quik-crete was poured over the body in the shallow grave.

I concur and agree with all this, is doesn't need pre-mixed, just pour it dry straight from the 50 pound bag or two. It only requires some water to set. Here's the tricky part, if the shallow grave was damp or wet from the river proximity, it may have never set up properly.

It also raises the question of where is the dirt from the shallow grave they dug? It sounds like the concrete was exposed enough to see it when they checked.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me want the DP to remain in effect. We need some federal laws passed to enact harsher penalties.

Sounds about right according to this...

Investigators in white crime scene fatigues arrived at the scene this evening and remained some nine hours later, reportedly recovering evidence from what was a shallow grave along the water’s edge that had been covered with some kind of fast drying cement powder.

Yes, and this 🤬🤬🤬 had to get the Sac-Crete or Quick-Crete from somewhere. Maybe some one will remember him buying it.

I agree. I wonder if the concrete could also have been meant to keep small animals from disturbing the body like they did in the case of Caylee Anthony.

Most likely used one 40lb bag of quikrete.

I read the article and I surmise that the dumb, stupid, lazy perpetrator of this horrible crime dug a shallow(very shallow) grave and instead of mixing the Quickcrete, he/she just poured the powder over her and added some river water to it. No stirring or anthing else. That is why there is powder residue. Geesh.

That's what I heard too. He said that there were flies everywhere and when his Dad scraped away the concrete he saw skin and called LE right away.

Quik-crete will set up underwater as it's a chemical reaction, not a drying process, that makes it harden. Sometimes you'll see people running their sprinkler over freshly poured concrete when it's warm out. That's because if it dries out, it won't set up properly.

Maybe they figured that it had lyme in it and would decompse the body faster and just poured the dry mix on her. It most likely set after the rain storms.

ETA: Nah i'm giving these idiots to much credit. they are hopefully just dumb and left enough evidence to get them LWOP.

A concrete block would be solid and couldn't be chipped away at with someone's hand. This sounds like it was freshly poured over a shallow grave and didn't even set right, and/or was just a thin layer. Just MOO from the latest report!

I don't really know but lately misinformation is coming out on all of these recent cases. From the article I just read it said the concrete block was chipped which is not an uncommon occurrence and the son kicked the soil and that is when he saw skin.

They may have poured a dry thin layer of concrete over the grave and even the dew and moisture will make it set up although it will be very brittle and weak.

I think I am just going to wait and see if there was a grave with a concrete block or whether he put a thin layer of dry cement over the grave. Either way it attracts to the area and I find both very odd why he would make it so noticeable. He had to know that fishermen go up and down that river often.

Either way she wasn't encased in concrete, like NG said imo. If her entire body was encased in concrete/cement then the smell would have been trapped inside like a vault for a grave, imo.

imo

who is Savanah Gray?? We need to be checking this out!!! (GK's gf who allegedly bled all over a shirt due to her tatt! Who also went fishing with George!)

Yeah, which is it? Was she fishing or getting a tat?

I wonder who the maintenance guy for the apartment complex is. He could have had to come out on a Sunday to repair a toilet or something that would constitute a weekend emergency. Almost all apartment complexes have the fast drying cement in the maintenance shop. I know LE has already thought of everything. I just want this 🤬🤬🤬 to be aprehended in short order (if he is not already in jail).

momtective, have you noticed how much the guy you were talking about looks like Daddy George? They both have the beard thing going on and from a distance he may have been mistaken for Daddy George by those little boys. I am so glad you and the other posters sent all of the information to LE!

I know it's too soon to speculate but your post brought a thought to my mind.

A stranger that didn't care about Neveah probably wouldn't have taken such care with her disposal. This seems at first report to be done by someone who cared about her in a way. Didn't want her body exposed directly to the elements and wildlife. Perhaps?

Also, there wasn't a lot of thought put into disposing of her. So far, it sounds sloppy and not well thought out. I hope that it was because that means they didn't think to be cautious about forensic evidence (DNA,fibers, etc).

And if they didn't, Neveah will speak to the ME during autopsy. No she will be yelling with evidence and point a finger directly to who did this to her. That is what I'm hoping for tonight. Tell them baby girl.

Yes I do agree, some mixes use a chemical reaction. Still have problems though like integrity of the pour. I'll hold off on that tonight for awhile. I'm still overcoming the shock although I'm not surprised. I'm glad it's coming to a conclusion sooner than one I've been watching.
