There are so many stories which are not matching up here, CW. Even the witness account are very inconsistent and appear to negate one another. WTH?! :banghead: They can't all be lying! LOL

A reporter needs to line them all up together and get the d@mn stories straight once and for all!

I find it interesting that theres an article on clickondetroit - where G states that after J called him he and S drove around to all the places he thought she might be - and then went "back to my hotel room to clear my name"

Wasnt it previously stated by S that they were in the room most of the day - until G went to give someone a ride? and then he came back to the hotel room?

You are welcome. If the people who are paid to get stories straight (mainstream media) are having trouble with this one, no wonder the rumor mill here is prolific...

Disclaimer: I am not in teaching mode here.
I tell students every hour of every day, back up ALL assertions with evidence and track that evidence. I remind students that if we cite or link everything we not only can quell rumors or questionable information to the best of our ability, we participate in an accurate recording of history. (Sorry! School is out for summer!)
These forums do an excellent job of the above for the most part. A+
Did I mention I like you very much already? :)

Prof, I think you just might be my new best friend.

I disagree with you on one thing though. While in the past the mainstream media might have been paid to get the story straight, I think they are now paid to get the story quickly and facts be damned.

Welcome to WS and excellent first post, Prof!:clap::clap:

The AA wasn't issued until the next morning, IIRC (I think the article is wrong). The 911 call came in at 8:15pm. The rest of it appears to be about right tho! :)

It is the first time I heard of this neighbor. Very interesting. I also agree if the scooter was leaning against the building instead of tossed aside like a child would do...then she was not riding the scooter when she went missing as reported by JB.

Thank you :) I guess I should not trust the Toledo source, or the Detroit source. Why did JB wait that long to call 911? That makes no sense to me. I thought SB was also around. At least she seems to have enough sense to report her grandchild missing. I wonder why the 911 call has not been released.

The scooter being parked, bothers me. It means that either she was not riding at the time she went missing, or she knew her kidnapper...

Wonder if Smith is going to want another apology from ABC since his face is on the newest article *eyeroll*

Does anyone know if Fox 2 reported that she had no visible trauma inside ot out?

I believe that i was reported that there were no "obvious" traumatic injuries. So not shot stabbed, no broken neck etc.

Which is not unexpected. Most intentional murders of smaller children do not involve major trauma. The fact that there is no obvious trauma goes a long way towards ruling out any claims of accidental death.

He served time for home invasion, was released, and then was locked up for the sex crimes. The media is blending the two charges together, but they were separate crimes with separate sentences.

I believe he was sentenced for both at the same time and the sentences ran concurrent as opposed to consecutive.

right, I was more interested in the "inside" part. And it was an ME (Spitz) in the interview.

I stand corrected, sadly... I am living in another era...Remember when reporters were held accountable?

:woohoo: to new friends! I dreamt a few nights ago that our President appointed me his new BFF (I have a little crush on him, but would never flirt with a married man :P)

She claimed to have looked for Nevaeh for 40 minutes including calling GK to help search.

I have seen nothing to indicate that SB was present when she went missing.

I would love to hear the 911 call myself. The press needs to press for the tape. ;)

Alright ABC, is it bad reporting or have I not heard LE say this was an over used term. Did I miss something, arriving late but lurking some before.

Nevaeh's family members told the Detroit affiliate that they are even more suspicious now of George Kennedy, a 39-year-old registered sex offenderand friend of Nevaeh's mother, who has been named a person of interest by Monroe County police.

You even dream smart. ;)

I do remember the good old days when Journalists had ethical standards and their sources were triple checked. I also remember when they could spell!

You very well could be right. With the sloppy media reporting it's very difficult to figure it out.

This report supports your belief:

In 1998, Kennedy, 39, was charged with a felony for having sex with a girl under 16. That charge was later dismissed, court records show.

In addition to the 1998 charge, court records show that by 2002, Kennedy had been charged with a home invasion and accosting a 13-year-old girl. Kennedy's former court-appointed lawyer Peter Sickels told ABCNews.com that the charges were combined in a plea deal that allowed him to be released from prison in 2003.

However we know that he was released in 2007.

In California, we treat SO's differently, based on a tier level:

IMHO Kennedy was a level 3 (only based on the 3rd degree felony):

Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct - Third Degree (Multiple Variables)
Attempted Children - Accosting For Immoral PurposesAttempted Children - Accosting For Immoral Purposes.

You can find the alleged perp here:

http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/PSORSearchDetails.aspx?oid=12632509

Tier Level 1:

Risk Level 1 offenders present the lowest possible risk to the community and their likelihood to re-offend is considered minimal. They normally have not exhibited predatory type characteristics and most have successfully participated or are participating in approved treatment programs. Many are first time offenders. The majority of the registered sex/kidnapping offenders are classified as Level 1 offenders. They usually know, live with, or are related to their victims.

Notification: Risk Level 1 offenders present the lowest possible risk to the community and their likelihood to re-offend is considered minimal. They normally have not exhibited predatory type characteristics and most have successfully participated or are participating in approved treatment programs. Many are first time offenders.

Tier Level 2:

Risk Level 2 offenders present a moderate risk to the community and they have a higher likelihood of re-offending than level 1 offenders. They are considered an increased risk to re-offend because of the nature of their previous crime(s) and lifestyle (drug and alcohol abuse and other criminal activity). Some have refused to participate or failed to complete approved treatment programs. They may have more than one victim and the abuse may be long term. These offenders usually groom their victims and may use threats to commit their crimes. These crimes may be predatory with the offender using a position of trust to commit their crimes. Typically these individuals do not appreciate the damage they have done to their victims.

Notification: A risk level 2 notification is information of registered sex/kidnapping offenders that may be released to public and private schools, child day care centers, family day care providers, businesses and organizations that serve primarily children, women, or vulnerable adults, and neighbors in community groups near the offender's residence, or where the offender expects to reside, or is regularly found. Registration information on Level 2 offenders may be generally released to the public (such as offenders who have failed to register or are transient or homeless).

Tier Level 3:

A convicted sex offender who is assessed as posing a substantial risk of recidivism and threat to public safety. Requires notification to law enforcement, organizations in the community, including schools, religious and youth organizations, prosecutors and courts and general community notification. The same information listed under Tier 2 is also available to the public on Tier 3 offenders

Notification: A risk level 3 notification is information of registered sex/kidnapping offenders that may be generally released such as with Level 2 offenders and in addition includes news media releases. Any person may review level 2 or level 3 community notices at the Sheriff's Office Records Division or on-line.

So my question is, WHY weren't neighbors aware, why wasn't his parole officer notified he was hanging out with children. why, why why!

Thanks for letting me ramble.

Mel

Backing away from previous statements naming two sex offenders as persons of interest, Crutchfield would not comment on any suspects. George Kennedy, 39, and Roy Lee Smith, 48, both said to be acquaintances of Nevaeh's mother, are being held on probation violations simply for being associated with a child.

Crutchfield said Jennifer Buchanan was cooperating with police, but would not comment when asked if they believe she knows something about the crime or who murdered her daughter.

The murderer, he said, could still be free in the community.

"In my opinion it is a very sick or disturbed person we are looking for, a person who is able to abduct and murder an innocent 5-year-old child," he said.
