MI MI - Oakland County Child Killer, "The Babysitter Murders" , 1976-77 #2

Gee...that's exactly what the DA and numerous LE agencies want too...for it to disappear. If Busch did it, he didn't do it alone. Gunnels hair was found on Tim. Numerous others need to be held accountable. Hopefully, the King's will see this happen.
The public officials who have helped conceal the facts of this case from the public are the main ones who need to be held accountable at this point. I do think Chris Busch had a partner (in addition to Gregory Green), but I'm not sure who. My guess is that it was one of his rich friends. If Busch was offed, it was to protect someone from an even wealthier family. I don't know how Ted Lamborgine and Arch Sloan fit in; maybe they were "the help." Maybe Chris Busch and his partner paid Lamborgine or Sloan to babysit the victims at times.

100% agree. I would like to see every single person in LE, including the DA past and present be held accountable and suffer consequences for their actions. Then, justice may prevail.

The problems with this case stem from the poor forensic and mishandling of evidence. The profiling was terrible. The only question I have at this point is if a female accomplice could have been involved.

I haven't read the book yet, but what does the author say about the guy that Tim King was seen talking to? Chris Busch doesn't seem to come within a country mile of matching the description of that man. Accomplice? Innocent bystander?

I dont know what the book said because I never read it, but it was reported that a man was seen standing next to the blue Gremlin talking to king, but another (heavy set man) was seen sitting in a car close by. I dont remember the type of car it was, but I think it was the same type of car believed to of made the bumper prints in the snow bank where one of the girls body was found. According to king's older brother, he came to the drug store that evening and the Gremlin was still there, but the police wouldn't take him seriously.

There was no sperm found. Dr Sillery (Oakland County Coroner) who claimed to find it inside one (both) of the girls was an incompetent who was fired.

I agree that the children were not "pristine" their clothes were dirty when they were recovered, particularly undergarments.

According to the DVD that Tim King's family produced and the FOIA docs they received, and Tim King's sister's blog...It is logged and written that sperm was found during Mark's autopsy. Not the girls. Cathy (Tim's sister) states that the slides were 'lost" . this whole case is still open because of incompetence IMO.

The “Freedom” of Information Act

Read Cathy's response in the comment section about the sperm.

Also, the warrant and affidavit used to exhume David Norberg listed the sperm also. The autopsy performed on Mark was not done by Sillery, it was done by Patanga according to affadavits.

Plus, (from Cathy's blog)

“Reference to the sperm and additional hair samples in the warrant came directly from original investigative documents, said Jim Halushka, Chief of Warrants for the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

From FOIA document BLK 02499:

“Regarding autopsy of Mark Stebbins, performed by Dr. Patanga at O.C. M.E.’s office, s noted by a Livonia synopsis dated 4/1/77, by Det./Sgt. Varajon: “they obtained semen from anal and oral cavities. . . . Slides of semen obtained from Dr. Patanga to be transported to MSP crime lab.”

So now you have Dr. Patanga, who gathered the seminal evidence and logged it, then the chain of custody passed to Dt. Varajon who also noted and logged it.... sperm was there....now it's not...2 people did not make a mistake about logging evidence that is now "disappeared".

Was the James Davison incident ever confirmed from anywhere besides Wikipedia?

  • #150
Realize this is a long shot but just found a James Davison on IMDb and in his bio states his family moved to Michigan in 1973 or 74 at the age of 13, so age and state match. This guy is in the Hall of Fame of Martial Arts, starting Martial Arts at the age of 14 (perhaps after the abduction to protect himself?) and also in his bio said they moved to the Michigan area for only a “few months,” perhaps wanted to leave the state where this occurred?? Sorry if I’m way off just some circumstantial stuff that seems to make sense...

Oakland County Child Killer Case Background | ClickOnDetroit |...

Someone killed at least four children in Oakland County, Mich. between 1976 and 1977.

Investigators have been working for decades to determine who the serial killer is and if he is still alive. Those who knew the victims -- their families, friends, classmates, teachers, coaches and neighbors -- have been forever changed by what happened during the 13-month period from February 1976 to March 1977. In that time, the four children were abducted and murdered with their bodies left in various locations within or just outside Oakland County.

There were at least two other murder cases that investigators believe may have been victims of the "Oakland County Child Killer" or "The Babysitter Killer," as some called him.

The ensuing murder investigation was the largest of its kind in U.S. history at the time...

As a lifelong Detroiter: Why don't any of our local media peeps have any guts?

Stop barely, kinda, almost, sorta, um, uhh, maybe going there. GO THERE.

I am so sickened as a person who grew up in this community about how we sold these four families (and many, many more) out for 4 decades. Just ugh...

I'm all ears if people are watching this stuff and have anything to say...

I guess it goes with out saying that Busch was that heavy set man. But who was the other one? The man in the police sketch looks too old to have been Gregory Greene (who might have already been incarcerated, anyway). Of all the people named, I think Arch Sloan bears the closest resemblance to the sketch, but he wasn't interested in girls, and neither was Christopher Busch (so far as we know), yet two of the victims were female.

If Busch and Sloan were both in on this, how would they have met? I haven't seen any connection mentioned.

We should make a list of government officials or business leaders who would have had enough pull to deep six the investigation into Busch back in '77/'78.

Johannes E. Spreen was the Oakland County Sheriff at that time; John F. Nichols was the Undersheriff and later became Sheriff. I don't think either of them would have had the clout—not with multiple agencies involved. It seems like it must have been someone with far more power; I'm just not sure who that would have been.

Then again, maybe someone lower down the totem pole took a bribe—some random member of the investigative team who was able to spread misinformation and make evidence and documents disappear when no one was looking. I'm not sure who that would have been, either.

I guess it's hard to say. All we really know is that the crimes seemed to of stopped with Busch's suicide. That dosen't mean Busch was the killer, but that sketch hanging on his bedroom wall was pretty bizarre to say the least. If it's true about him being on Pine Island; I guess he could of had some connections there. To me, all the circumstantial evidence pointed at him seems pretty damming, but it doesn't look like we will ever really know for sure.

Did A Cover-up Let The 'Oakland County Child Killer' Walk Free?

"Through interviews with Detective Cory Williams and family members of the victims, Children of the Snow examines a potential connection between the Oakland County Child Killer murders and a sick pedophile ring that produced child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and operated out of Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission on North Fox Island at the same time.

After a boy escaped that circle of abusers, he pointed authorities in the direction of Francis Sheldon, the multimillionaire philanthropist who owned North Fox Island. Sheldon fled overseas and was never caught, but investigators uncovered the nightmarish underground connected to Brother Paul’s — a web of child rape and exploitation with outposts that reached across Michigan and the United States."

I've been pulling at all these threads in a long form podcast. Don't talk to Strangers.

I was living in Berkley at the time of the murders. Have an interview with Chris King going up today.

The case should have been wrapped up decades ago, but things were lost, tips ignored, false leads chased. It's frustrating.

Nina, do you think that anyone in Oakland County deliberately steered the investigation away from Christopher Busch? It seems like L. Brooks Patterson would have had the strongest motive, but he was a prosecutor, not an investigator, so I'm not sure whether he could have pulled something like that off on his own. Do you know whether Patterson was buddy-buddy with either Spreen or Nichols?
