Found Deceased MI - Omarion Humphrey, 8, Lake Callis, 4 Jul 2015

I wonder if he was with extended family, or a new foster care situation, or some other situation where they weren't used to him and his wandering behavior? He's 9 years old - it seems like anyone with experience with him would have had a LOT of experience keeping track of him. If they had to involve security 4 times in one day, that's exhausting. No one who is familiar with this child, and his wandering behavior, would sign themselves up for a day like that - they'd either have a strategy (an ankle tracking bracelet, for example) or they wouldn't plan events with him where their day would be spent trying to track him down.

I wonder what that looked like - a 9 year old child shouldn't need constant supervision in a public place. Certainly other 9 year olds are allowed to go to the concession by themselves, go to the bathroom and return, etc.

Prayers they find him. I think it's actually very possible he's just wandered off and will be discovered somewhere today.

Imo a severely autistic child would definitely need constant supervision. I work part time with autistic children. Some are runners and very fast; some will sit and play with a train set for hours every day; some will become terrified at any new stimuli. All different and you are right that whoever is the caregiver should know his tendencies.

Boy missing from Lake Callis, search teams combing the area

DAVISON TWP. – An Amber Alert was issued at 9:42 p.m. July 4 for Omarion Humphrey, 9, after he went missing from the new Lake Callis Recreation Complex on Gale Road south of Davison Road.

The boy, who goes by the nickname “Mars” was reported missing at about 5:45 p.m. by his parents. The park was immediately locked down and a “Code Adam” alert was issued by park staff, said Randy Stewart, building and zoning administrator for Davison Township.

Wonderful how the community is arising to search inspite of bugs and difficult woods. Wow!

I remember a autistic child went missing several years ago. He was found inside someone's car deceased because of the heat. I hope people are checking their cars.

Praying he is found safe.

At 2:30 p.m. today we got another call on our phone from the police asking everyone to search their property and to look in any small places where a child could hide. The call said there was now an Amber Alert out for the boy. He's been missing for over 21 hours. We drove over to the search headquarters and there are loads of cars parked there and also at the middle school nearby. I heard that over 1000 searchers were out last night searching. We couldn't see where the search crews are today except for some individuals searching on their own. There is a big pond next to the lake park and another big pond across the street but they have been searched. There is another pond about a mile away at the Meijer store and one farther down that road at the gun range, but they didn't look like they had been disturbed. People said the boy was with foster parents and the park manager said he'd asked them several times to leave the park because they weren't supervising the boy and he kept getting lost. The dive team is back out today even though they said they cleared the lake last night at 2:30 a.m. The Salvation Army disaster emergency response truck is at the search headquarters with food and water for searchers. Anyone who was at the park yesterday when the boy went missing had their car searched before they could leave the park. Today we drove around some and looked around but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. There are lots of places with woods, creeks, bushes, tall weeds, etc. that would need to be searched on foot. One man said the woods and pond on his property were searched a total of 3 times. Also the empty factory buildings being constructed next to the park are huge to search. There are all kinds of construction vehicles (big ones) sitting around and big piles of dirt. My son lives right down a city street from where the boy went missing and his house is in easy walking distance from the park. There is the Lake Callis park in the township and it backs up to the big city park, and my son lives 2 blocks down from the city park. His kids go to school real close to Lake Callis.

I just came upon this thread and am so worried about this little guy. I'd like to get my hands on this foster family......

It sounds like there has been an amazing volunteer turnout....how impressive and so kind to help in the heat.

I hope they find this sweet little guy soon.....he must be so frightened. Poor thing just needs a loving/attentive family, is that too much to ask? Makes me so pi$$ed.

Yeah I'm sitting here shaking my head. I hope this little boy is found and returned to a different set of foster parents. Just senseless!

I keep thinking the same thing. He is in foster care and was failed. Again. How many times can this child who needs extra love and attention be failed??? Infuriating.

http://www.minbcnews.com/news/story.aspx?list=194377&id=1226456#.VZm6r8x16tZ Here is one of the videos and articles from today. There were so many put out today that I don't know which have been posted, if any. The boy's mother has come to the search center and was interviewed on a couple of videos. A grid search has been done on an area 2 miles in diameter around the place where the boy went missing. The only thing even a little bit promising was some footprints found near a bridge in the area. Areas are being searched more than once. New search dogs have been brought out. The boy's family members have been interviewed. His biological mother says she will stay at the park for days if needed until he is found. She said he isn't usually prone to wandering off but will sometimes hide.

This is a video from earlier today on the search for Omarion. It's been 27 1/2 hours and he still hasn't been found.

Thank you for all the updates, Jan. If he is jiding I have faith the dogs will find him, I worry he may be in a car or gotten into something he can't get out of (dumpster with a lid or storage shed). Hoping everyone checks their property as a determined child can get much father than most think!
