Police Investigating Case As Possible Homicide

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Brownstown Township police said they have four people in custody in connection with the discovery of a body in a creek.

Kelly Christopher Slominski was sentenced Sept. 3 to three to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder in the June 16, 2009 death of Robert Hackney...

The charge was reduced from second-degree murder in a plea agreement just prior to the start of a third trial in the case...

According to police, an altercation between Hackney and Slominski ensued at Slominski’s residence in the Deerfield Estates mobile home park in Flat Rock over prescription drugs Hackney was accused of taking... Police said the altercation ended with Slominski strangling Hackney and holding his head underwater.
