MI Rochester Hills man 72 murdered by suspects posing as DTE workers

Wonder how long till they name him?
Nothing yet, but more details here. Looks like they believe these two either followed him home from his jewelry shop, or stalked him online. Either way, they believe he was specifically targeted.

I really hope it isn't the tired old 'the old man doesn't trust banks, his house is stuffed with cash and valuables' thing. It's almost always a completely unfounded piece of gossip or rumour, that grows until the old man has a gold toilet and diamond fixtures, and a bunch of boneheads load for bear and try to take it from him.

Almost always, the house is a regular house, the occupant poor or has the usual array of valuables, and the criminals vent their frustration on the owner with often obscene levels of violence.

If this guy was a pawnbroker, no doubt he had people come in to his place of business to try to shift stolen stuff. Even if he never took them up on it, it doesn't take a huge stretch that one of those shady people might get it into their head to try to rob him, too.
