NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. -- Police are revealing a photo of a blood-stained message left behind at the scene of a double slaying.

Police said Ronald and Christine Jabalee, both 58, were found slain in their New Baltimore home on Oct. 6, 2006.

Officers responded to the home at 53355 Washington St. and found the two assaulted and slain in their garage. When Ronald Jabalee did not show up for work at the Eastern Market business the family owned, an employee went to their home in New Baltimore and discovered the bodies, according to police. Police said one of the victims left a message written in blood on the garage floor. Part of the message was located under one of the parked vehicles in the garage. “What we're looking at is letters which is part of a message left by one of the victims during this brutal homicide that happened here in October,” said Ken Stevens, New Baltimore detective. Police said Christine wrote the message and probably had broken fingers, and may have put them together to write the message.

Police said the person responsible for the death of the couple saw the message before leaving and tried to clean up most of it. A few letters, which were too far underneath the vehicle, were not cleaned up.

“We know that there was more of the message but whoever committed the crime found it, but fortunately left us these few letters for us to deal with,” said Stevens.

According to police, the couple knew their killer.

A gas can was found at the crime scene, and investigators think the killer went to the home pretending to have run out of gas and looking for help.

The Macomb County Medical Examiner's Office reported the victims suffered blunt-force head and body injuries, plus multiple stab wounds.

Police reported there was no forced entry into the home and added that a clue was left behind by one of the victims, something written in blood, but they are not saying what the message said.

Through crime stoppers, police are offering a $160,000 reward to anyone that has information. Those with any information on the killings are being asked to contact New Baltimore police at 586-725-8470, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

More information can be found at America's Most Wanted along with pictures of the message:

Apparently, the murderer tried to wipe up the message, but the tire of the vehicle prevented all of it from being obliterated. LE is now asking for the public's help with deciphering this message (as seen on Fox news tonight).

Sadsadsad or Abracadabra~ Any ideas on what Knox found? I hope this sheds some light in either way to show us what is really going on. Whether or not Ron is gulity or innocent, I hope this sheds some light in either way. This case has me BAFFLED!!!! At first, I would have bet $$ on Ron, but now that the insurance $$ is coming to light, Im not 100%- Dont get me wrong, there is plenty in his guilt, but I havent seen enough, IMHO.

Hi there Chicogirl :)

BBM; Do you mean that the other beneficiaries of the life insurance policies may have had motive?

Anyone know what the pretiral conference will consist of? Will we see the release of more facts in the case?

Knox,

I honestly didnt think of the other siblings who would benefit from the ins $ until recently. Ron Jr didnt have too much to gain cut in 3 or 4, and wilth the loan being as old as it was, he shouldnt owe too much left , or enough to kill to kill over, IMO.

These killings did seem seem like rage killings, yet they were cleaned up and the missing knives baffle me too- So many questions, and I feel like Im back to before they arrested Ron-

LE doesnt arrest people 2 years later without LOTS of hard evidence- I wonder what they have on Ron ??

My first post is a necessary editorial to some "magical" words.......
Fortunately for me and many of you as well.......I DONT believe in magic!!
But I KNOW MAGIC.....
The only correct statement below is that RON is NOT a jr....
I would like to see the diploma of this "so-called" degree that Ryan supposedly has....As for his working at the store for the sake of his parents, I always thought it was so he could make an easy living!!!!! I must of missed where it was that his work was for anything other than the benefit of his own pockets.....didnt know he was into charitable acts!
But I DO KNOW, Ron is VERY CHARITABLE!!! ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE!! I also know he was a VERY GENEROUS CONTRIBUTOR to the crime stoppers reward fund...ummmm was Nicole or Ryan??? NO NO NO
I mean if we are being honest, let us be just that, right?
As for a Scott, (Since we must bring in Rich, hmmmmmm) well, where should we begin with Scott....He is a glorified slave to what one or many might mistake as being a "friendship" ???? Just cant put my finger on that one YET........As for Ron sitting in the office, well, WHEN YOU OWN A STORE, AS HE ALWAYS HAS OWNED HIS STORE, he has a right to do whatever it is that he choses!! Do you think the owner of Macy's, or Firestone, or branch owners of even Mac Donalds go in and sell clothes, or is changing tires??? No thats why we have the right to hire people called employees!! WOW, isnt beauty in the eye of the beholder?? But for the record...The man works his hardest at everything he does!! and is generous and loving and giving to EVERYONE!
BUT others will try and make you believe different because they have THINGS TO HIDE!! and as for the vicodin. That was never a secret to ANYONE ever!

:boohoo:
Hello to all . Have been following your website since day one kind of interesting how some of you have info that has never been released to the public. First off I would like to say to sadsadsad you are a mere acquaintance !. Ron is not a JR.. Ryan has a college degree and chose to work at the store for his fathersake and mother. Nikki hasn't worked at the store in quite some time. Granted Scott is a poor choice for a friend(loser). But as I recall Rich doesn't have a drivers license and why would that be. Hmmm. Ron may have worked hard when his mother was downtown but as of now(the last three years) is preoccupied in the office when present. The viacodon wasn't something that just happened its an ungoing issue. I do believe in Innocent Until Proven Guilty. But there are just some really strange moves on Rons behalf.

I bet they have some sort of fingerprint in the blood or something of equal weight. How could you commit a murder that violent, and then stick around to clean it up without leaving SIGNIFICANT evidence???

I had the same thought Reannan,
They must have had the prints or DNA from that long ago- Either there is a HUGE backlog, or some new evidence that wasnt made public had just been discovered?? IDK?? I jave a gut feeling something new set off someone's "hinky"meter

Hi Everyone,

The "think tank" that you all represent is amazing. Your theories and suppositions are intriguing; some really well thought out.
I'm being somewhat shy here and I will attribute that to some of the previous comments/responses that I have read and my genuine reluctance to offend those who may be actual family members.
As another clarified, I have met them before but claim no further involvement.
An issue that has stuck with me since the inception of this case was the person reported to have been sent to "check on" the parents. From personal knowledge, and the intimate relationship notwithstanding, that would have been the absolute LAST person to send to ascertain the well-being of the parents. I say this from a "newcomer" perspective (new to the family/business/dynamics, etc). From my understanding, there were many others present from which to choose to send someone to "check up." Not that this was necessarily a bad thing, but if anyone has seen the person (very slight, very frail) sent then perhaps my reservations may be better understood. Call me suspicious, but I have always thought that odd. Even to this day.

Welcome InsideOut! That is an interesting observation about the person who was sent on the welfare check of the couple. I just assumed that person lived close to the couple and that was the reason they were asked.

Hi Colette,

Thanks for the welcome. It was/is my understanding that this person had newly become involved with Ron's sibling when she was sent on this errand. I guess, from my own interactions with some of the people at the market, and understanding how freshly established this person was it just seemed an "odd" choice. I had seen interactions with the parents and some of the other employees there and was aware of some affections extended to some of those other employees by the parents and was just like "WHAT???" when I learned whom had actually been the one to make the discovery. Please don't get me wrong, I cannot fathom the horror this person must have experienced, but when there is concern for a loved one and supposedly there was no clue as to their condition why send someone (as frail/slight) who may be potentially be in danger themselves unless someone is aware that the danger has passed? Just a thought with a big hmmmmmmm behind it.

Interesting Insideout, I wonder who sent her? Was it Ron or his younger brother?

New article:

Jabalee's lawyer, Rabaut said he plans to file multiple motions sometime next month, but declined to elaborate on what they may include. He is trying to get the trial postponed until January.

Jabalee, who is fitted with a GPS tether and must report for daily drug testing, is prohibited by the court from speaking with his various relatives and a neighbor, all of whom may be called as witnesses at trial.

"My client, he's doing fine," Rabaut said today. "It's a lot riding on his shoulders."

Jabalee attorney seeks more time to prepare case
Christine Ferretti / The Detroit News
Mount Clemens -- An attorney for a Clinton Township man accused of murdering his parents over money in 2006 told a Macomb Circuit judge today he may not be ready to proceed to trial until next year.

During a status conference this morning, defense attorney Stephen Rabaut told Judge Richard Caretti he's working seven days a week reviewing hours of video interviews and stacks of police reports in the case against his client, Ronald F. Jabalee.

Rabaut told Caretti he is waiting for the balance of the evidence in the case and may be prepared for trial in December or January.

I'll add my thanks for the view on who was sent to check on CJ/RJ, many comments have been made on that very subject. Please do not be afraid to discuss this case or express your views. Is is the very reason we gather here, what others think of your opinions ... What's that saying from grade school "Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, but Words Can Never Hurt Me" :)
