The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 14800 block of S. Chapin Road in Chapin Township at around 4 p.m. on Sept. 9.
A man alerted officials after he said he was checking on his trail cams, and followed a deer through a wooded area.

He said he then found a boot, and what appeared to be human remains.
Investigators said the remains appear to have been at the location for a long time.

NamUs for Eric Franks: Missing Person Case

Missing since March 21, 2011. It should be easy to rule him in or out as he wore full dentures and had only a partial toe.

I will be watching for a new UID file on NamUs.

I just moved to the area. It’s about 5 miles down the road from me. I haven’t gone down there. Initially th authorities made it seem the bones had been there quite sometime. Now they are limit it to up to five years and are deciding whether it is a homicide.

Investigators believe the remains were there from one to five years before being found.

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office received the report on Aug. 14, which revealed the victim was a white or Hispanic male between 25 and 55-years-old, Sheriff William Federspiel said.

The report estimates his height between 5’2” and 5’10”.

The victim showed trauma consistent with blunt force to most of the bones in his upper body, Federspiel said.

The death is being investigated as suspicious.

The remains have been sent to Fortworth, Texas for a DNA analysis.

Wow! Severe blunt force to most of the bones in the upper body! I can see why they’re investigating the death as suspicious.

The remains were found on Sept. 9, 2018, so several of these can be ruled out. The article said they were 1-5 years old. So probably would have to start looking for missings in 2017 or earlier.

Oops, you're right. I edited the list to remove any cases after Sept 2018. I'll check the 2010's missing forum next for older cases.

That's so sad, isn't it ? So many cases in the lower peninsula of adults that simply vanish ! Lots and lots of woods and farms, secluded dirt roads, ponds, lakes, rivers and creeks. Then there's miles of coastline on the big lake. Hope this person can be identified and returned to their family. MOO
