Clare officials: Missing woman may be in Harrison area

  • Sara Elizabeth Burns is missing from Ogemaw County and was last seen on Jan. 9.
  • “This female is missing from Ogemaw County and could possibly be in the Harrison area,” Clare officials said overnight.
  • Her van was found in Harrison.
  • Sara is 34 years old and 4'9" tall.

Just seeing this. Another MP case with minimal information to go on.

The MSM report says Sara's van was abandoned. Was it in running order? Flat tire or out of fuel perhaps? No details are provided about that, or even where it was found. All we know is:

[...]
Her abandoned van was found in a wooded and sparsely-populated area near Leota, north and west of Harrison.
[...]

Was her van found along a road in that area, or was it found in a wooded area, like a primitive logging road or campground?

I checked the map and the general Harrison/Leota area is very rural, sparsely-populated area, as mentioned in the MSM report.

General question : Does Sara have an ex or a boyfriend ?
It's just that some of these cases there's a domestic element to them.
Can't find any social media for her.

Hope she's ok and is found safe , but it's been a while now.
Maybe left of her own volition ?
Imo.

I was wondering about this as well. We have virtually no information about Sara, her family, her relationship status, etc. However, given the fact that there have been so many recent disappearances involving DV, this is a good question to ask.

Also, is it possible there could be a MH component involved here? Again, no information so far.

What does "missing from Ogemaw County" mean? This seems like weird cop speak for she is FROM Ogemaw, even though that has no apparent relevance to do with the current situation. Her car was found in Clare County and they say she may be (no indication why) in Harrison, which is in Clare County. Ogemaw is a couple counties over, actually.

"O" indicates Ogemaw County, "C" indicates Clare County and I underlined the city of Harrison.

Living near this area , I know Harrison has a large meth presence, with a lot of trafficking of drugs from Detroit area. Not insinuating that Sarah did or didn't have a drug addiction but a lot of nefarious drug related incidences in this rural setting . Praying she is found unharmed .

She lies in Ogemaw. Her car was found two weeks ago in Leota. For unknown reasons LE says she "may be" in Harrison. The theory seems to be that she left her home, broke down in Leota, and then went missing for an unrelated reason, right?

If they thought the car was related to being missing they wouldn't suggest she is in Harrison.

If they thought something happened at her home they wouldn't suggest she is in Harrison. But doesn't it seem like a stretch that two unrelated events, her car breaking down and her going missing, happened at basically the same time?

I don't know. So little to go on maybe I'm overthinking it.

34-year-old woman reported missing from Ogemaw County

Investigators say 34-year-old Sara Burns from the Prescott area was last seen on Jan. 9. Clare County Central Dispatch is reporting that the woman's van was found in the Harrison area recently.

Clare sheriff officials had towed the van earlier, which had not been flagged as being of interest to law enforcement, but Ogemaw investigators discovered it had been located and arranged a search and tracking dog.

According to her Facebook she is from Saint Helen, Michigan. She has two children - a boy and a girl - approx 9 and 4 years old. Lots of photos of the kids but none of Dad as far as I can tell. She posted in 2016 that she was in a relationship. She quit smoking in 2013. She works or worked at Walmart. <modsnip: unnecessary>

That's exactly what it means. She's a resident of Ogemaw County and the Ogemaw County Sheriff is the investigating agency.
I just want to point out that her vehicle seems to have been found in Leota, not Harrison. The thread title is incorrect.

I've requested the thread title be updated. Some articles say Harrison, as the first one when I started the thread, and one says "near Leota."

We don't know where her van was found, other than 'in a wooded and sparsely-populated area near Leota'. In looking at an area map, that information isn't particularly helpful, as most of that area fits that general description.

IMO the term 'abandoned' could mean any number of things. So far the MSM reports don't indicate evidence of foul play in the van itself.

Also, since she has two children, IMO it doesn't seem likely she would willingly leave them for any length of time.

In addition, we have no reports regarding her relationship status at the present time, so we don't know if anything along those lines might come into play here.

Sara Elizabeth Burns, 34, was reported as missing on Jan. 17.

Burns was last seen leaving her residence in the Houghton Lake area on Jan. 9.

The Ogemaw County Sheriff's Office said they have obtained information that indicates Burns was in the Harrison-area on Jan. 11.

The Clare County Sheriff's Office reported that Burns abandoned vehicle was found in the Leota-area on Jan. 11, prior to her being reported as missing.

Burns is 4'9 and 111 pounds, with blond/strawberry hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information on Burns' whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Lt. D

Living in the Flint, MI. area myself can attest the drug problem as well as human trafficking and this has been on my radar for any possible sightings and info.

I really hope she is alright. I lived 30 mins from that area a year ago. It is very rural, lots of woods around and cell service is spotty. The area is very heavy with drugs. I saw that the Clare police had the van towed before actually investigating the scene first so unfortunately there's a good chance that evidence was missed.
