DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Wayne County Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death for two Detroit children found in a freezer as homicide.
The medical examiner said Stoni Ann Blair and Stephen Gage Berry died from multiple blunt trauma and multiple blunt trauma and thermal injuries respectively.

:sigh: So the SA excuse was self serving to somehow explain the UNFORGIVABLE. This woman reminds me of Jerice Hunter who is currently on trial for murdering her 5 year old daughter Jhessye. I will be watching this one after all. I cannot imagine what it was like for those four children in that house of horrors.

This is exactly how Blair's explanation struck me. It was a simple manufactured excuse to make the victims, these two little children, culpable in their own torture murders. She is simply a broken evil human being. I am glad two of her children survived, as long as they actually survive all of this.

Thermal injuries being the burns from the hot water ? Or might he have been alive when placed in the freezer? IIRC the older sister said ' he stopped breathing' and was wrapped in his linens and put in freezer. I wonder if he was already deceased

The same questions came to my mind. Could be either I suppose..... I just don't want to think that either of them were still alive when they were placed in that freezer

Can you imagine what the 2 surviving children went thru as they watched their sibling be abused, suffer, die and then stuffed into a freezer? They had to wonder if they were next and trying desperately to not do anything to set the her off again. Those poor last 2 kids surviving must have been terrified of either being the next victim or being the final survivor.

I don't believe her lies about the kids sexually abusing each other, i think they probably sought comfort in each other and tried to help each other and that made her mad. Let's face it, based upon how she repeatedly beat and abused the kids, pretty much anything they did pissed her off.

I forget which person it was (a neighbor or friend, I think) spoke of the fact that MB (the mom) talked of being sexually abused by a female babysitter and when she told someone and tried to get help, she was not believed and was sent back there. She said that MB said she did not believe is God because God did not believe in her and God didn't help her when she needed it.

IF (and that is a big if) that happened then that is sad BUT it in no way excuses what she did. If anything, that should have given her even more reason to be a better mother. Instead she became her childrens worst nightmare. Their captor, their abuser and their killer. She effectively shut them off from every source of help or love they could have ( family, friends, school). They were completely at her mercy.

And yet, her nickname was Angel. Her neighbors said they had them completely fooled. She was a gifted liar, actress, manipulate and a heartless killer. She had already killed twice and was still abusing the last two kids. It was only a matter of time before she killed the next one. The older one was 17 and would soon be legally old enough to be out from under her mother's control. But would her mother ever have let her go, knowing that the daughter was a witness to the 2 murders? That poor girl had to be terrified that she was going to be next and worried about what would happen to the younger child if/when she was gone.

I am curious what MBs plan was? Obviously she knew the eviction was coming. Had she made plans to move anywhere else? It would be hard to ask for help from her family seeing as she had 2 missing kids. I think she was running out of options and I wonder what her plan was.

There would have been some type of definite tissue changes present IF he were alive and then died due to asphyxia in the freezer. Monitoring the tissue changes & conditions were part of the reason why the bodies has to be "slow" thawed; performing a post on a frozen body is tedious & delicate work!

IMHO, the thermal injuries were from the perp's testimony of burning/scalding the child, that he had a high % of body surface that was/would have been classified as 3 rd degree burns. Again, my interpretation from what little has been released.

Community rallies for families of children found in freezer

A community came together Friday night to remember two children found inside their mother's freezer.

The east side candlelight vigil was organized by family, friends and Detroit council member Mary Sheffield to honor Stoni Blair, 13 and her brother Stephen Berry, 9.

"It is our responsibility as adults driving parents to save all children," said Angela Gordon, the children's great aunt. "If you know something, see something, think of something, don't be afraid to speak it."

Fighting back tears, Gordon spoke for the family at the vigil. Gordon, a retired 26 year Child abuse investigator with the Detroit Police Department, told FOX 2 earlier in the week that she was helping the family financially until the her niece, Blair, became estranged and isolated.

"These actions were calculated, cunning, meted out with insanity," Gordon said. "All involved need help. I pray that my niece gets the psychiatric care that she so desperately needs."

No, it isn't, SCHMAE. You're so right. No psychosis there, IMO. It's cunning & conniving fraud against the citizens of that state, and it's unmentionable cruelty to two innocent children and life-scarring to the children who witnessed it and had to keep all of it a secret.

And home-schooling by her -- my big toenail. I wonder if those children can read or write... if not, that's just one more cruelty added on to the others.

She confessed. She can try and make the kids culpable in anyway she chooses, like telling a neighbor she was sexually abused so she has no tolerance. Being sexually abused doesnt set you up for any kind of mental defect defense. I bet there are far more parents out there that were sexually abused who DONT torture/murder their children and keep them in a freezer in order to keep their other children in line and to guarantee an income from the state. Cant quote you stats on that one, but I am pretty sure it is true.

I will buy the she-was-born-broken defense however. She cant ever see the light of day again, like MAM from the Shaniyah Davis case. The world isnt safe with her in it. Society isnt safe but absolutely her children arent. Time, energy and resources should be spent on them-here's hoping she pleads guilty LWOP and rides off into a cell to fend for herself. She is the monster under the bed.

As horrible as this sounds, death was their only escape. We know what she did to them prior to death in the last days but what about the years before that ? Their little lives truly must have been unbearable from the moment of birth . No telling how many times they were beaten to near death and survived prior to this.
