DETROIT -- A city of Detroit personnel official has agreed to answer questions under oath about certain city records Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is seeking in connection with her ongoing criminal investigation of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and others, a judge was told this morning.

Neil Fink, newly hired attorney for Detroit Deputy Human Resources Director Patricia Peoples, who is Kilpatrick's cousin, told Wayne Circuit Judge Timothy M. Kenny that Peoples "has always been more than ready to cooperate in any way."

Peoples and Detroit Corporation Counsel John E. Johnson were ordered to attend court after Worthy's attorneys complained they could not obtain certain city records and others had been destroyed.

After her brief in court, Peoples went to another room in the courthouse to answer questions from the prosecutors under oath. That session is not being held in public.

DETROIT -- Fired Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown, fresh from beating Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick during the police whistle-blower trial, is mulling a campaign for mayor or against the mayor's mother, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.

Brown and one of his consultants confirmed today that polling will begin soon to gauge his support for a run at mayor next year or a campaign this year for the 13th District, which spreads from the Grosse Pointes to Downriver.

DETROIT (AP) -- A judge has ruled that lawyers for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former top aide can't intervene in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking the release of text messages between the pair.

DETROIT -- Wayne County Judge Robert Colombo ruled this morning that neither Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick nor his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, have any standing to fight the release of the text messages central to the scandal griping City Hall.

And it will be at least another three months before he even gets close to making a final decision on releasing the messages. He gave lawyers for The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press and the city 91 days to interview witnesses and request documents to help stake out their positions in a Freedom of Information Act fight for the messages.

Colombo, backtracking slightly from his stance last week, said that after further review, he is no longer convinced he can simply obtain the messages from SkyTel, which has possession of the text-messages from Beatty's city-issued device in 2002 and 2003.

But he added that he believes he can order Beatty and the mayor to get the records and turn them over to him.

I swear it's the MAD HATTER'S TEA PARTY in Detroit! How in God's name is it NOT a conflict of interest for the chairman of the city's ETHICS BOARD to serve on the mayor's defense fund committee ? ? ? ? Is it because there are NO FREAKIN' ETHICS in this city ? ? ?

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080328/NEWS01/803280372&imw=Y

Turner told the Free Press that he decided to serve on the committee because "I've been involved in efforts to support access to justice ... my entire career."

Turner, chairman of the city's ethics board, said he sees no conflict in serving on the ethics board and on the mayor's defense fund.

"There is no matter pending at the board of ethics related to Mayor Kilpatrick at this time," he said. "If any matter comes to the board of ethics ... I would not participate."

Turner said the Detroit Justice Fund is to be a tax-exempt political organization. It can take unlimited contributions from individuals, as well as corporations. Contributions are not tax-deductible.

But Turner said the fund would cap contributions at $12,000. He said he did not know why, and referred questions to fellow committee member David Baker Lewis, who did not return calls.

Amen to that. That is why we are being laughed at by the rest of the U.S.

I just got this email...

A man died and went to Heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the pearly gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, 'Why are all those clocks here?' St. Peter answered, 'Those are Lie-Clocks.

Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock move.'

'Oh,' replied the man, 'very interesting... whose clock is that?'

'That's Mother Teresa's clock,' answered St. Peter. 'The hands have never moved, indicating that she has never told a lie.'

'Incredible!' exclaimed the man. 'And whose clock is that one?'

St. Peter responded, 'That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved only twice, telling us that Abe has told only two lies in his entire Life.'

'Where's Kwame Kilpatrick’s clock?' asked the man.

'Kwame's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan.”

now Kwame is affecting Mommy - Oh the shame!!!

Also, I'm trying to dig it up again - but one of the newspapers here, had a listing on Kwame's Non profits as well as who was getting paid a salary - most of his "crew" were collecting a nice salary!

and he's getting laws possibly rewritten - But it looks like it may be a way to "get him out" too, IF it ever sees the light of day....

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/15736022/detail.html

A state lawmaker is discussing a proposal that would give city councils the authority to remove chief executives.David Law of Commerce Township says the legislation stems from the city hall scandal in Detroit. The proposal would require a two-thirds majority vote by a city's governing board or council to remove the official.

If the bill is enacted, it could be adopted by the Detroit City Council to remove Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick before his term expires.Law said he has not yet discussed the idea with legislative leaders.

And did anyone catch the comments he made to his "public" at Thursday's rally?

Here's some glimpses....Don't laugh too hard!!!

"I will humbly serve you till the day I die"

"I have the opportunity right now to go prison, not jail, for text messages," Kilpatrick said. "There's been no evidence. No facts presented. Get out of office and go to prison."

told the crowd that he "started to pass out" at his arraignment Tuesday

urged the audience not to turn away from him

Anyone else notice the "poor me" syndrome that is so common with 🤬🤬🤬 that we post about? Cause I sure do!

I won't comment too much on the race thing for fear of being banned BUT I will say this, for every step the burbs and the city of Detroit take forward towards any type of a semblance of unity, Kwame puts ALL of us back about 15 steps. Being a person outside of Kwame's race, well let me just state that most of those even that share a race with Kwame are not in support of him for the race issues he keeps throwing into the loop. As well he is alienating any hope of those outside of his race supporting him due to he only meets for the most part with persons and/or organizations that are racial based...(Read between the lines here ladies! LOL)

It's hard to avoid the subject when discussing Kwame as he keeps brining it up! You can only politely look aside so many times. When he blames white, suburban jurors of the award in the Whistleblower trial it takes a bloody tongue to keep my trap shut. Hindsight is 20-20, and I bet the award would have been even higher if the text messages came out during the trial.
