For me it's not about the attire. Really, in Chicago ... all our mayors look respectable, and do the same dirty deeds.

Bobby ferguson was accused of whapping his employee upside the head with a gun -he was part (and a BIG part appointed of course by Kwame (Co- Chair) for the Motor City Makeover Campaign. He was given MILLIONS of dollars of contract work by Kwame. He plead down to a charge of assault w/ intent to do bodily harm. But here's the catch, at the time that happened, it was his THIRD time facing some type of a gun charge!!!

WTF happened to 3 strikes and your out?

He should have faced roughly 10-12 years, but was sentenced to a whopping 10 months in WAYNE county jail (How convenient, if you know someone in Wayne county, it's not at all unusual for your paperwork to go missing and then they have to release you.) But was allowed out during the day for "work release" but the work release was for him to continue w/ his business endeavors.

Hope that helps ya'll w/ some insight as to who he is. Now to be fair, the guy did take over the family business at like 17 or 18 (I'll have to double check but I know he was really young and "just beginning adulthood" and grew that company (before Kwame) to employ roughly 90-100 people. But then as always happenes, greed struck, and look where he is today kwim?

I just knew his personal spending and buddy contracts were where the dirt to bring him down were. No different than the FBI, going after gangsters with the IRS. Interesting though that the city is not the one going after Kilpatrick for his financial misdeeds, but the media ... and the taxpayers are stuck picking up the tab.

Expensive vehicles, spas, vacations, personal trips, legal fees and Lord knows what else ... it just doesn't end. And, the mayor's response ... just trust me.

:waitasec: I wonder if her honorable Paula Humphries actually has a hyphenated name.

Former mayoral chief of staff Christine Beatty does not have to wear an electronic tether and is not a flight risk, the presiding judge of 36th District Court's criminal division ruled this afternoon.

Judge Paula Humphries agreed with Beatty's attorney, Mayer Morganroth, and rescinded the tether added to Beatty's $75,000 personal bond condition on Friday by Magistrate Steve Lockhart. Beatty's travel remains restricted to Michigan, but she has the right to make a written motion to the court to travel outside the state.

Worthy's asking that all the judges get kicked from hearing the case:

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy today filed a motion to disqualify Judge Ron Giles and the entire 36th District Court bench from the criminal case against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty.
.........
District Judge Ronald Giles was randomly selected this week to preside over the June 9 examination on perjury and other charges faced by the mayor and Beatty, his former chief of staff.

The Free Press reported last week, that Giles’ wife, Joyce Hayes-Giles has political ties to a member of the mayor's cabinet and his former press secretary.

Rescue 4 has learned the city of Detroit filed documents that say the Detroit Police Department has new leads into the death of Tamara Greene, who was rumored to have danced at the Manoogian Mansion. The documents filed Monday evening say those leads are so promising they want to postpone the lawsuit filed by the exotic dancer’s family. The filing says Detroit police are receiving several new important tips that could lead to a break in the case.

Rescue 4 learned city attorney’s argue that going forward with a lawsuit alleging that the city failed to properly investigate Greene’s death, could scare off new witnesses and stall the death investigation.

*More at link** Cry me a friggin river!!!!!! Sorry but I see this as nothing more than a "stall" tactic on "Kwame and friends" behalf!!!

Call me cynical, but it sounds to me that there is a rush to "solve" the case now. If they have someone arrested and in jail, they can stop any investigating. I wonder who the poor sucker is that's going to take the fall.

Unbelievable. The beauty of arresting someone for Tamara's death is it will end up on Worthy's desk for prosecution and she'll pick it apart.

Suburbs Push Kilpatrick To Resign

Macomb County Commissioner Philis DeSaele has introduced a resolution to ask Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to step down from office.

DeSaele believes Kilpatrick’s legal troubles are hurting the economic viability of Southeast Michigan."We are a region, whatever happens to one of us happens to all of us,” said DeSaele.

The city released this statement in response:

As the legal process continues with real judges and real lawyers city council continues to neglect their duties so they can play judge and jury in the court of public opinion.

Our administration is hopeful council will start to focus their attention on more pressing issues such as the $300 million Neighborhood Opportunity Fund and $75 million tunnel deal. Council needs to put the needs of the people first instead of using their time at the table for political posturing.

*Bolding is mine* this is sooo true though! When the superbowl was here, the burbs seen an insane amount of money, for lodging, people eating out, shopping, etc etc. Seeing that we've already lost two great opps of conventions that have decided they will NOT be coming to host their event(s) in Detroit, it's NOT ONLY Detroit losing out. I

t's the entire Detroit Metro Area. To ME, this isn't about Kwame doing what he feels is right or wrong, but about him trying to prove a point...that he believes he is invincible, and while we've talked about Beatty turning "states evidence" I'm starting to think that Kwame is going to throw anyone and everyone to the wolves in hopes of making himself look better/save himself......

The council meeting is fascinating. Mike Stefani is doing an excellent job testifying.

...snip... At the end of that portion, the donations he's recieved included a Chuck E. Cheese ticket and a major cash contribution in the full ammount of 2 cents. Yes, someone mailed in 2 pennies! I can't remember what he said he would do if there was any type of real donation, but I am sure Kwame and company will find a new name and register it this time- using the proper channels....snip

I love the 2 cents. My mom use to waitress I remember her saying that if someone left you a penny or 2 it was more of an insult than not leaving one. hee And I am all for sending in the monopoly money. What's the address.

Stefani's testimony is pretty dang damning. I wonder if the council can remove Kilpatrick for the secret deal fraudulently given to the city council.

It depends GM, if he has anything incriminating on enough of them it won't happen.
