Oh, this was an excellent question! basically it is:

How is it possible that this secret agreement, as a PRIVATE agreement between Kilpatrick and Stefani's clients reference the city? If Stefani or his clients be punished by losing the CITY'S settlement if they break the PERSONAL agreement?

Answer, was a bunch of double-talk.

I lost the stream for this afternoon's testimony and can't seem to get it back. Thank goodness for the Free Press. I don't believe Ms. Hypenated Name Colbert-Osamuede's testimony that she knew nothing about the text messages. She admitted signing the secret agreement, but somehow she didn't know what was in the secret agreement? I don't think so .....

City Attorney Valerie Colbert-Osamuede told the Detroit City Council today that if she had known at the time she signed a settlement deal that Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty had exchanged text messages showing they had a romantic relationship, she would have reported it to her boss.
------
Colbert-Osamuede signed the Oct. 17 settlement in exchange for the cops’ attorney turning over damaging text messages between Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and chief of staff Christine Beatty showing they lied under oath in one of the cases. Council members were never told of the role the text messages played in the mayor’s desire to settle the suits.

I found this link and thought it might help keep us straight on who's who . . .

Thanks for all the links and snippets - might not be commenting much, but I'm reading. :D It's hard to keep all these people straight, so many different people involved with so many different aspects of the case (the messages, the party at the mansion, the murder of Tamara, the whistleblower thing, the taxpayer money that's wasted, etc....), I'm trying to keep up. LOL.

The attorney who claims Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the City of Detroit covered up the killing of stripper Tamara Greene is accusing the city of refusing to turn over key evidence in the federal lawsuit.
---
The city also has admitted shredding records "to protect the privacy of appointees" of the mayor, Yatooma said, though the city did not indicate when this occurred.

Yatooma filed a motion Thursday asking a federal judge to hold city officials in contempt. The motion says the city is also refusing to turn over most of the information in Greene's homicide file, despite a March 28 deadline to do so.

A judge has ruled that Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick must get the court’s permission before traveling outside of Michigan for purposes not related to city business. However, Kilpatrick can now leave the country for city business, along with travel in the United States through a notification process.

This city is paying for this???!!! If this is about City image, then why was their complaint that the news station didn't cover a pro Kwame rally? These people are so transparent.

(snip)
It turns out that the city had contracted with the RCP Group/Autonotification, a media monitoring service that keeps its computerized eyes on newscasts all across the country. In this case, RCP trolled for items about Kilpatrick.
Tolliver acknowledged Thursday signing up for the service, but said it was not solely about protecting the mayor. She said she also was concerned about "the overall perception of the city." The Florida clip, she said, "was a one-sided story and I called the news director."

The below incident may explain why the live feed was lost yesterday. I wish I could have seen it! It's priceless. lol.

ETA: I'm not sure if the incident happened yesterday or this morning...hmmmmm.

I was so bummed I lost the feed yesterday ... Now, I'm even more upset. Monica Conyers scares me.

I really wanted to watch Colbert-Osamuede testimony. She's the city lawyer that kept claiming she didn't sign and wasn't involved with a secret agreement. She only "remembered" the day before a judge was to receive all her emails which clearly showed she was way up in there with the secret deal.

It appears the shouting match was this morning. I'm glad i found a video though. I'm afraid that Conyers is gonna pull a gun on someone!

  • #436
Oh thanks Suzi! I thought they had concluded yesterday.

BTW, those were some fireworks!!!!!

  • #437
Dang, it's almost impossible to listen to the feed. It keeps skipping in and out. And, of course at the most inopportune moments!

  • #438
I almost expect her to pull a Cartman and start yelling...Respect my A-thor-E-tay!

  • #439
Golfmom, do you notice Conyers isn't there this afternoon?

lol Curious, she came awfully close.

I had to quit watching, it was breaking up too badly. The scary thing for me is a know a number of women just like her.

She's cutting her own throat here. Her strong support of Kilpatrick along with these closely watched hearings will have voters, casting their votes elsewhere!
