MORENCI, Mich. (AP) - Three boys who went missing on the same day their father tried to hang himself were feared to be in "extreme danger," and the father hadn't been ruled out as a suspect in their disappearance, Michigan police said.

The father, 39-year-old John Skelton, was being treated at a hospital in Ohio for "mental health issues" after he attempted suicide Friday, Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks said.

The boys, 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner, were last seen Thursday, Weeks said Sunday. Their mother, Tanya Skelton, reported them missing Friday.

Yes, no dr. will release if they are convinced you're a danger to self or others. Too much liability, OTOH, I'm guessing the second they feel they can cut him loose they will, and right into the hands of LE, and then he's LE's responsibility. If he becomes suicidal again, that will be on LE and the jail to put him on suicide watch in a paper gown etc..

I went out to Morenci today. (I'm in Toledo). Several hundred people out searching today and they were concentrating on the White Pines Reserve. Feds there, helicopters.. Morenci is literally a one street light town. If you come to the street light, hang a right, go thru town and you are at the White Pines Reserve which is a natural preserve..heavily wooded. EVERYTHING around here is heavily wooded! Talked to the clerk at the carryout and she said no new info is making the rounds. Morenci is asking for search volunteers tomorrow morning. Anyone in area that wants to volunteer should go to the fire station at 8AM.
The local news tonite (13ABC) has a family friend stating that she thinks dad hurt the boys...no mention again of the mom being an RSO.

Well, at least Thanksgiving holiday was Thursday and Friday. I don't know what Record Day is. Almost sounds like something that the kids would be out of school for? Locals want to chime in?

I just do not see a father giving children to someone. If he and TS were in dispute and he wanted to kill himself and give the children to someone else to hide them etc..he must of known that the kids would eventually be found and returned to their mother. How can he give kids to someone to take care of without them having new identies... they would need social security card and shot records and birth records etc to start in any school anywhere if he were trying to relocate them correct??

I do not believe any underground kids network to protect kids. I have heard of somthing like that before but it was in a situation where a parent would flee with kids and need protection. NEVER have I heard of anything like that to just give kids to someone.

His story makes no logical sence at all. NONE.
There are just too many things all ready that dont add up.

It seems that if he left with them before and it took a court order to bring them home
from Florida then that right there tells me that he has previous played the "I am getting the kids" game. He was challanged on it by her getting the court order to return and he is still using the kids as a control issue with her.

My theory is that he may have been down and out and wanted to leave this world but he was selfish enough to take the kids with him so their mom would not win the custody battle in the end. I think that he harmed the children. I think the reality set in that they were gone and what it meant to be not coming back and then he himself could not end his life. Perhaps he never intended to but the one thing that it seems to me is that whatever he did to the kids it is directly related to custody. To be so mad at the wife that he will take the kids from her in the end one way or another.

I do not know where the JT fits into this. How did TS in some way have communication with her? Perhaps facebook with a fake account. What better way for him to get information from the wife than to create a fake account befriend her.. talk to her some and hear some of her problems .. when in fact it would be HIM behind the computer with a fake account. I know a few people have done this in the past to befriend their spouse through social networking with a pretty face and fake picture and they took the bait.. just a though on how she would be in communication with Joanne Taylor. The name Joanne Taylor is so common and generic that it bothers me also.. almost like a jane doe.

Police say Tanya Skelton remains cooperative and in constant contact with authorities, but she's listed on a Michigan sex offender website for a case more than a decade ago involving a sexual relationship with a teenage boy.

What I got from the comments is that the mom's maiden name is Zuvers and we aren't the only ones scrutinizing the fact she's a RSO. I agree it was a long time ago, before she had children. However I still think it's an important fact....

I have to now stay off of lenconnect.com as I am getting furious at the mom's "friends" who say "SO what" to her being a sex offender. She "made a mistake"...the victim "chose" to have sex with her...uh yeah..he was 13, she was 33! I just cannot take that double standard that people have when the perp is a woman as they would more than likely NOT being saying these things in support of the father if he had had sex at 33 with a 13 year old girl! Ugh..makes me sick.

I noted that, too and I'm not sure what to make of it, but her story makes more sense than police not being able to verify if JT actually exists. If the father's telling the truth, he was in contact with her two days ago. He's been in touch with her for several years via the internet. There should be an electronic trail verfiable within five minutes. Dad would have a phone number, e-mail address, or at the very least a user name from a social networking site. He should be able to direct LE to some internet exchange he shared with her. If he can't, she doesn't exist. No question. My heart bleeds for these precious little boys.
