I would like to know where they found the letter she was mailing. Was it in the box, on the ground, etc.

Did they even find it? Or, for that matter, are they certain she was mailing something and not outside for some other reason?

Something is just not right about this. I wish we had the layout of the scuffle that took place in the drive. And why did the fingerprint the tank unless of course the disturbed ground led right to it.

i saw the drive on NG, did anyone screenprint that?

Also the timeline of 7:30, who says he wasn't out there at 6 after her mother left for work. He knows what time her mother leaves, he lived there.

Was the letter she was said to be mailing found in the mailbox?

Actually, in the Peterson case there was no actual evidence directly linking him to the wife's death, it was all circumstantial and the fact that he was a jerk didnt help him - he clearly did not get the benefit of the doubt as he is supposed to. In OJ's case there was direct evidence linking him. He was aquited mainly because of doubt raised by issues not directly related to the case.

The two cases were not at all similar from an evidentiary point of view.
Right, not similar from an evidence point of view, but I was speaking of husbands that kill their wives (not the evidence that linked them to the crime).

Circumstantial evidence is just as compelling as direct evidence, if there's enough of it.

Good question! From what I heard tonight, it seems she could've been attacked before she even got to the mailbox. Although I'd also think it would've been mentioned if no outgoing mail was in that box, since her reason for going out was to mail a letter.

If she was mailing a letter and attacked before she got there, the letter would be on the ground.

If she was attacked after, where would the attacker have hidden? Surely not at the propane tank, she would have seen the person before she reached the mail box.

If she was attacked after mailing the letter, then she would have had a clear field of view. If hubby was visible at that time and she was afraid of him, she would have retreated at that point and not gone to the mail box.

Yes, he did have time (if he did it). I guess my point was that in most cases where husbands kill their wives, there is often a previous history of abuse or allegations of such. So, these husbands have to know that they are going to be the first person LE looks at. That fact alone would scare most people away from committing a crime, but in the abusive husband cases, it doesn't. Their rage often outweighs their reason.
I definitely understand what you're saying! And if it weren't for the distance he'd have to travel overnight, I would be more sure he committed the crime. And we still don't know if he was at work on Monday. MOO

LOL....I guess a lot of us thought about the letter at the same time!

I disagree on that, particularly in capital cases. I know in practice it doesnt work out that way, but it is morally wrong. What if the circumstances are just that and you execute the wrong person?

I have seen in a few cases were LE will state alot of things about a perp to make them feel comfortable and the next thing you know they are arresting them, Chris Coleman comes to mind ...I remember them saying he was not a POI and the very next day the cuffed him.

It is hard to put together with what little info we have, all I know is that they are calling him a "POI" even though he is supposed to have these alibis....I did a search around the grandparents addy for RSO and there wasnt but maybe one that was close, I am going to look at a different site, the one I looked at is usally not kept up as well ....

I haven't seen NG, but I saved a couple pics of the yard:

IIRC, there was evidence of a scuffle on the propane tank. Her show is on again right now so maybe you can get the screenprint during this episode? I don't know how to.

Maybe those are the sex abuse letters that gramps said he found....but, who would she be mailing them to?

Sorry I missed it, but how do we know Doug lived at the McCombs home?

I know there was a home in Schoolcraft (sp?) they owned.

Also, does Doug work on the weekends ? If not, he could have been in Michigan over the weekend. Who are his alibi witnesses ? Where is his family, friends speaking on his behalf ? Why won't he speak with LE now ? Why won't he tell Venus's parents if he was at work on monday, that's a simple question. Too many questions here, hopefully soon we will know some of the answers.

If mom left for work at 6am.....where did the 7:30 time come from? Did mom actually see Venus that morning?

That's just it ~ there doesn't seem to be mention of any other possible perps or a warning that people in the area may be in danger. Even if there was a stranger RSO nearby, what are the chances he'd be parked in the driveway waiting for the moment when Venus comes out of the house?

Wonder why LE did not take propane tank with them...could have held sweat, spit, something that flew off the perp if he was near it...

BBM

Dad was awakened by the kids making noise inside the house.

I'm sure they can process it without moving it.

So, actually, Venus could have been missing at 6:05. If mom saw her that morning before leaving for work...
