If the x made this marathon run, I don't think he left her body there. I think he used a tarp and dumped her a long way way from her house.
You're right, she could be anywhere between there and Virginia, however I don't know if he'd be so stupid (like Scott P. was) as to drive too far with her body in the back of the truck. MOO

I agree, he would have had plenty of time in the big drive back to VA...she could be anywhere...might never be found...but that should not stop charges from being filed and prosecuted...

All they need is evidence found at the scene placing him there. MOO

with his/her truck...the best mileage he could have expected to get is somewhere between 14-18 miles per gallon. This truck is 5 years old now, so it probably gets less than what the company listed in new condition as "Best Mileage"...stock vehicle comes with a 35 gallon tank. 35 x 18mpg max = 630 miles. It's over 700+ miles to Virginia so he would have had to stop somewhere to get gas both on the way there and on the way back. Plus if he was driving faster to get back to Virginia, he wouldn't have been getting 18MPG either. Probably closer to 10-12.

Average retail price per gallon in the midwest for that week was $2.88 x 35 gallons = $100.80 per tank. He would have needed 2-1/2 to 3 tanks to get there and back based on the mileage and distance. That's $250-$300. If he didn't put several gas charges on any credit cards during this time he would have had to have planned to have a decent amount of cash on his person, so wouldn't LE be able to check his bank accounts and pay schedule to see if he had a large lump of cash withdrawn and unaccounted for?

Maybe those are the sex abuse letters that gramps said he found....but, who would she be mailing them to?

Maybe she threatened to mail the letters somewhere(?) in the Sunday night tele-call with Doug, and he knew the mail ran early. BUT hadn't the letters already been revealed as part of the accusations that gained her temporary custody?

The notes that LM provided to the news media and NG were notes that she made in Feb '10 when she was filling out her PPO application and don't appear to have anything to do with the letter she mailed that morning, that could have been a letter to Ed McMahon for the sweepstakes for all we know.

She had made the allegations before, they had been investigated and nothing happened because there was no evidence to support what she claimed. Whatever she was mailing had nothing to do with this letter that the grandfather produced.

Probably. Perhaps grandpa just wanted the sexual molestation charges out there. That's why he gave the letter/note to the media. No other reason that I can think of.

I have a Dodge Ram extended cab pick-up. Several months ago I checked the mileage on an interstate trip, and I got 13 miles to the gallon. You are right... the truck holds 35 gallons. He would have had to get gas somewhere on that trip probably twice or three times, unless he filled gas containers and had them in the back of the truck. But to fill the tank twice (which he'd have had to do once on the way there and once on the way back) his bed would have had to be filled with 15 gas containers.

I HOPE LE are checking with gas stations along the route from VA to MI.

BBM...

Hmm... then I wonder why exactly she was awarded temporary custody of the two girls. Must have been something else that Doug did to cause him to lose custody.

As has been stated before, "insufficient evidence" does not equate to "no evidence" or "nothing happened." In a case where the accusation is that the father ordered the child to touch him inappropriately, evidence will be hard to come by, especially considering that the children's clothes that they wore while around their father are still in Virginia.

The thing that concerns me is the distance. If he had his truck then he could have killed her along the way(to Viriginia) and disposed of it along the way(to Virginia) as well.

That's what I think happened. I think that she was killed immediately after she was abducted, and her body is somewhere in some rural area between Michigan and Virginia. MOO.

Also, does Doug work on the weekends ? If not, he could have been in Michigan over the weekend. Who are his alibi witnesses ? Where is his family, friends speaking on his behalf ? Why won't he speak with LE now ? Why won't he tell Venus's parents if he was at work on monday, that's a simple question. Too many questions here, hopefully soon we will know some of the answers.

I agree, SFT.

He probably received the court order about custody on Thursday or Friday. First day off after receiving the court order would have been Saturday. Perhaps he left Saturday or Sunday, drove to Michigan, watched the house, and grabbed Venus the first opportunity he had.

Even people who don't think that Doug had anything to do with this have to admit that, considering the War of the Stewarts that had played out over the past several years, he had to be INFURIATED when he got those papers temporarily terminating his custody of the girls, and more than likely ordering child support to be paid to Venus. That was a huge win for Venus, and it likely threw him into a rage. He planned this whole thing after he received those papers. All my opinion...

Sorry I missed it, but how do we know Doug lived at the McCombs home?

I know there was a home in Schoolcraft (sp?) they owned.

He didn't live at the McCombs. I think what's confusing is that Therese McComb quoted Venus in a recent article... Therese said that Venus said something like "I lived with him, I know how he is. He's going to hunt me down and kill me."

It would be easy to misunderstand it as Therese saying that she had lived with Doug, knew how he was, etc.

I think you are right. I'll bet he was in an uncontrollable rage.
