Beane, anything you say can and will be used against you in a WS forum...LOL time to lawyer up...just kidding.
I think it would be sufficient to have the tarp (wrapper) match up with what's on the WalMart receipt to tie the purchases into Venus' abduction. And whoever purchased those items would be on store surveillance.MOO
Well, they were estranged and living apart. So this isn't like a loving husband and family man suddenly clamming up.
He could find his statements taken out of context, twisted and, as they say in the miranda rights, "used against him in a court of law".
His lawyer would be negligent to allow Doug to say anything to the police, even if Doug is innocent. Too much of a circumstantial situation that you don't want to open your mouth and say something the wrong way and have it used against you later.
Maybe someone can come up with the clip from NG where she says it. I thought too that she said the blood belonged to DS.
It's not completely meaningless, because it leaves the door open that someone else would have a very good reason to be in possession of keys to this truck. Plus he was not in the vehicle when it was located, it was found a few blocks from his apartment building. We don't know the circumstances behind how it arrived at that location or who's possession it was in prior to it arriving there. If my spouse and i own a bicycle and we both ride it from time to time and someone takes it from my garage and it's found 2 blocks away at a park, am I in possession of it?
I think we are all reaching here. The truck was not with Venus-if there is a trial possession of the vehicle might be raised I suppose-If I park my car down the street from my house and walk home am I in possession of it? :innocent:
I'm losing my mind. You're absolutely right, of course. I'm too sleepy to be posting. I apologize.
The truck would not have to be with Venus, someone other than DS would just need to have the keys to gain possession of it temporarily. Or even to just stash a few obvious clues inside it and put it back on the street near DS apartment.
Is that the working theory here? Who took possession of the truck and set DS up? Venus? So this was just an incredibly convoluted attempt to get back at DS? What is the endgame of staging her own abduction, I wonder....how is she going to get back to her beloved children that she cared enough about to take with her when she ran :waitasec:
Seems like a whole lot of work to me without a guaranteed result.
The whole theory against DS is based on a whole lot of work without a guaranteed result...otherwise he committed this nearly perfect crime right up til he got back to the VA line and turned into Forrest Gump.
Near perfect crime? Based on what?
- Tire treads "generally" matching the Ram found near the abduction site.
- Dropped a tarp wrapper at the scene of the abduction.
- Matching vehicle seen in field with man crouching behind it.
- Stopped at WALMART (cams galore) to buy murder kit (including a tarp, the wrapper of which he left at crime scene) on the way to MI.
- Could not be located until "late night" on the day of the crime
The only things Doug Stewart has going FOR him are:
- No one saw Venus being abducted
- An alibi that is being rechecked by MSP
You may consider this a perfect crime, but I think he Gumped up most of it. He's just stone lucky that no one saw him take Venus.
Here ya go:I know this is totally off topic, but can someone give me the link to the Haleigh Cummings case...I can't find it.
