Here's what I saw that TM said about the blood. She doesn't specify who she heard it from.

Venus's mother says she heard about what police found.

"I heard that they found blood stains, but they were Douglas's and not Venus's."

Okay, sorry, that was me making an assumption and we know what that means lol. It could have come from the psychic for all we know. Thank you BeanE for finding that.

Let's not forget the Chandra Levy case. Perhaps Venus was being watched by someone else and taken by a stranger or neighbor. I am just thinking outside the box, had he hired someone to kill her, I feel this person would have cracked or given something up - something would have linked to a payment or someone would have bragged. And if it was him can we all agree the drive would have been long and the cover up disposal of her body would have had to come after his return home?

IMO

But, if it were a stranger or a neighbor, what did they do, drive to NN and put a receipt in DS's truck?
He is somehow involved IMO.

Good call by police. Time to start clearing up some areas and moving on to the next...

  • #225
Well, that says a lot.
MSP thinks he was involved.

ETA: And that there is a good chance she's deceased.

bbm

Items seized--
slippers?
jammies?
hmmm
what???

I hope law enforcement planted bugs on the premises of the Stewart home while they were conducting the search.

Perhaps they took some of the following:

Dad's 357 magnum
Other firearms
Ammunition
Other weapons such as bow and arrows, knives
Computers, laptops
Gloves
Tarps
Hats
Shovels
Cell phones
Recording devices
Documents
Notebooks, notes, letters

Sooo....do they have a dirt cellar, crawlspace, wells, pet cemetary at the S house??? I mean, IF she is there, DS had to move fast....recently planted tomatos, corn....recently razed building, pond or sinkholes on the property or storm drains???

  • #230
I wonder if this means LE thinks Doug's parents are involved.

Does anyone know what other K9's were used (i.e., live scent, etc.) since Ms. Stewart went missing?

They brought cadaver dogs onto the property and searched the outbuildings as well as the house. I'm sure if there was a scent anywhere of a dead body on that property, the dogs would have picked up on it.

I don't know how many acres the farm is, however. But, I would certainly hope law enforcement was very thorough in their search.

If that was Doug who was crouching behind the four door gray truck across from Venus's parents home around about the time Venus disappeared, I would think he'd want to get out of the area as soon as possible.

What really puzzles me is why he would have been there in the broad daylight where he could have been spotted by someone driving by such as the neighbor!

I don't know how long Venus owned the truck, but if she bought it and was driving it around town before moving to Virginia, I would think Doug would have been really cautious about being seen driving it.

It is so puzzling that Venus disappeared in broad daylight.

It would have been easy enough to know whether or not that the person crouching behing the truck was Doug Stewart, as well as any other sightings of the 'mystery man' the day before Venus Stewart went missing. All that needed to have been done would have been to use live scent K9's to confirm or negate the scent of Doug Stewart (once the handler were given a scent article belonging to D.S.). If the scent matched, then a live scent trail could have been run, as well as a live scent for Venus Stewart at the mailbox area.

There's a lot of work that could have been done regarding using the scent of D.S., and even could be done providing D.S. hasn't been around his in-law's home since Venus disappeared. Of course there is still work that can be done at Venus' parent's home using her live scent to work a trail.

That's good to know. It appears law enforcement doesn't like the public telling them what to do! It must be very frustrating to someone who is an expert in this field to stand by while a case is fumbled/mishandled due to the ignorance of the various agencies involved.

Doesn't rain wash away the scent? Hasn't too much time passed since the man was seen crouching behind the truck for there to still be Doug's scent there?

Well, the thing about storm drains/drain pipes-we have had two cases where searchers have NOT found the bodies in the pipes....even with dogs, IIRC. One was Jody King's case (one year ago, in CT) and the other Kayleah Wilson recently of CO....in both cases the ditches and areas surrounding the pipes had been searched.

Closest I could get to conditions at that time:

The sun had just come up at about 6:35am.

It was overcast and cloudy.

I don't know what has been done in this case and I can't imagine any "fumbled/mishandled ..." things being done by LE, but often there are other resources that could be used to help with the investigation, just another 'tool' to use along with all of the others. :-)

PickieChickie, too much time has not passed for those K9's/handler's who are trained to work aged and contaminated scent work.

No on the rain washing away the scent, again, for those that are trained for aged work where obviously weather affects the scent, etc.

Could they have his scent there but need more evidence to prove it was on that day at that time?

If it was Doug crouching behind the truck, the only thing I can figure is that the day before, he'd become so enraged he was out of his mind, went to Walmart, purchased the gloves, hat, tarp and gloves and drove to Venus's parents house, arriving in the dark of night.

Still filled with a murderous spirit, he wanted to go to the house and either demand to be let in or break in and kidnap Venus but couldn't muster up the courage.

So, he waited and waited, hoping Venus would come out to have a smoke in the dark of the early morning. Unfortunately, she didn't and it wasn't until after Venus's mother left that she emerged from the house, enabling Doug to grab, subdue and carry her to the awaiting truck.

(That's just my opinion, of course.)

In other words, he had driven for too many hours to fail.

I believe the media made it clear Venus was an early riser, something Doug would have known from being married to her.

I would still like to know if Venus was allowed to smoke in the house.

I don't know BeanE. Of course you always need more evidence. But let's just say that live scent for D.S. was there (in the places that neighbor's spotted a man), and D.S. did 'take' Venus, then the live scent would be followed, ideally to where Venus is. Live scent would also be done from where Venus last was, to ideally, where she is now as well. The goal is to find Venus, and due to the circumstances of this case and what could be an obvious POI, to implicate that person as well.
