I think it was in that article because this was my next post and what I snipped from the article....

also snipped from that article above:

“He wasn't there at the time we arrived,” said Lt. Risko. “he showed up a little while later and watched from across the street.”

Despite investigators finding evidence they say links Stewart to his wife's disappearance in Michigan, Ohio, and his home in Virginia, they still aren't ready to call him a suspect.

“We're not going to call him a suspect until we have an arrest warrant in our hands and we do not have that at this point,” said Lt. Risko.

Watching this case unfold, I am reminded of Sheila Bellush, murdered about 12 years ago, in front of her toddler quadruplets in Florida. She had moved from Texas w/her new husband and family to escape her ex and did not even tell her own family where she was, but the ex, who had relinquished all parental rights of two older daughters, kept after the younger of the two, pretending he wanted to talk to her, until she gave away their address. Soon after Sheila was stabbed to death in her new home, with the four toddlers found alive, but clinging to her body. It took 3 years for LE to finally get the ex convicted as of course he did not do this himself and had a great alibi, but he is now serving LWop in TX, though why not the DP, I have no idea.

IMO, if DS was involved, someone else did the actual abduction.

The media is reporting that Doug Stewart is the only POI. You know, the "husband" must have done it. That is what the media is saying. Every day even.

If that is not what the media is reporting, could you direct me to one of the many tens of thousands of media articles that says someone else is a POI?

Remember, the father said he recognized the guy by the lake as a "local guy" who had "nothing to do with" Venus' disappearance.

I am sorry-you used the term guilty right? They have been reporting, carefully, POI. That he is the only POI. Not that he is guilty.

That was from the same article. The police spokesman did not say that.

SNIPPED>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Police think she was abducted and may have been with her estranged husband, Douglas Harrie Stewart. The 29-year-old man is the only "person of interest" named by police in connection with his wife's disappearance.

SNIP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"A search warrant was executed Friday, May 21 at Doug Stewart's parents' house, which is located in Leonidas Township," MSP Lt. Mike Risko said. "We did find items related to, we believe, the disappearance of Venus."

All the info is there Calliope. Just because I used abduction instead of dissappearance does not negate my original point. IMO my point still stands.

They found evidence in VA, MI, and OH that links DS to VS's dissappearance.

Yeah, great idea. Let's treat the family of victims like the perpetrator instead of using resources to investigate the guy who bought the tarp, shovel, gloves, and hat in Ohio.

About Doug having an alibi... that's pretty much become yesterday's news. There's really been no mention of it by Risko in, oh, 3 weeks or so.
You'd think if his alibi had crumbled, they'd say so.

  • #468
That was from the same article. The police spokesman did not say that.

Ok, but the evidence they found was in his parent's home. RIGHT?
You can play the wording however you would like.
Does not change the fact the MSP found the evidence in his parents home, in his apartment, in Ohio, in his vehicles......
Who had access to all those places???????

Really? Why wouldn't it? If you were half-way across the country when a crime happened and had an alibi, why wouldn't it rule you out?

My point is this. If Doug has an alibi in Virginia that police have checked out, it means someone else did the kidnapping of Venus. Someone else did the crime.

My point is that if DS' alibi ruled him out, then he would have been ruled out. He is not. If DS has an alibi that sets him in VA and rules him out of abducting Venus, then he would be ruled out of abducting his wife himself. But since I havnt read anything indicating that his alibi has ruled him out, I believe there must be something less than firm, to date, about this alibi. But for sure, I am looking forward to reading more about it.

Disappearance vs abduction isn't the point. LINKS DS to VS's *whatever* is the reporter's (and apparently others') interpretation of the quote from Lt. Risko. But that's not what the Lt. said.

Wait, have they revealed who that person was? They must have the Wal-Mart video by now. Maybe I missed the info on who appears on the video making those purchases.

No, but evidence has been found in OH linking DS to the dissapearance of VS so I would assume they are talking about the Wal-Mart in Ohio where the items were purchased.

IMO, they think he somehow arranged for someone else to abduct her. That's going to be hard to prove, unless he notated his check "hitman".

Fair enough. Certainly makes sense as opposed traveling all that way for two days to put yourself directly in the line of fire.

Or, he was just that driven. No pun intended.

Some people choose not to bring in another person, as Frank pointed out IIRC. It would have to be a pretty good friend who would engage in this for you...or someone who owed you pretty big.

BBM

I don't argue that point.

Well, Risko could say the same thing about you truthfully. Would that be pretty damning for you?

He just stated a fact. You are reading meaning into that which may or may not be true.

I sure wish I knew if live scent dogs (using the scent of DS) were worked at the sightings of the 'mystery man' and the site of the probable abduction of VS - if positive trails were run, these results would go in the 'damning' category!

Two dates and times that'd very useful to know, and that you'd think a decent journalist would've scared up by now, are:

(1) when was Venus last known to be out and about in the local community in Michigan? Was she/her family churchgoers maybe?

(2) At what time on the day of 'Venus' disappearance" can Doug positively be confirmed to be in Virginia? Late morning? Early afternoon? Evening? Late night? Not necessarily talking about alibi witnesses, but just out and about witnesses, maybe someone in his apartment building saw him around that Monday afternoon (or whatever, whenever)

  • #477
Ok, we don't have to believe the reporter who talked to Risko.
The reporter is obviously in the multi state conspiracy to frame DS.

  • #478
I don't think that is the case. They executed this search warrant because Doug has an alibi they can't crack, and they have absolutely no idea where Venus is located. They are under intense political pressure to solve this case.

If Doug's alibi was faulty, they would have already arrested him in Venus' disappearance.

Not necessarily.

I believe they WILL find Venus.
...and I believe they have plenty of evidence pointing at DS, and are just crossing the T's and dotting the I's before making that arrest. BUT, in the mean time are keeping him constantly in their sights.
I'm sure he can't even take a $h!t without them knowing.)
I'll bet DS is nearing the end of life as he knows it.
