As far as the Walmart video, I am thinking if LE had it and it was not DS, they might put it out to see if anyone recognized the person? Or else the video was destroyed or not good enough to tell...

In the Bellush case, LE knew that her ex must be behind the murder...they did not have any real evidence against him, but the person he originally asked to do it passed the job off to someone else who passed it off to someone else again and eventually those people testified against him...the ex had threatened her and beaten her so many times over the years but still LE had no real hard evidence especially since they could not place him out of TX at the time she was murdered. They sure did not have what LE seems to have in this case, although the one who ultimately killed her left all kinds of evidence in his vehicle too...receipts for his killing kit, etc...this poor woman did not stand a chance, killed in her own home and one of her other daughters had to walk in and find her dead and the little ones all crying and covered in her blood...it was one of the worst cases I can remember. It just reminds me of this one in so many ways, the ex was very smug about his alibi as he knew it would hold up...but he passed the job on to a bunch of dummies which may well be the case here...JMO

I completely agree with this statement. That is why the MSP should have executed search warrants on Venus' parent's home, the place she was living, the very first day of the investigation.

They were the last ones to see her alive and that is the starting point in a criminal investigation. Also, statements made by Venus' father were pure speculation and I think that hurt the case.

He said she was kidnapped taking mail out to the mailbox in her pajamas, but he was sleeping so he didn't witness her do that. He was sleeping so he didn't witness her being kidnapped. He was sleeping so he didn't witness her in pajamas that morning.

But the media ran with his version of events, and the MSP was caught in a media feeding frenzy which may have misdirected them.

But I agree with you Saint, search warrants should have been executed a lot sooner than now, and all the family members should allow it without question since it is their daughter/daughter in law that is missing.

I have no reason to believe that VS parents wouldn't let the police search their house without even needing search warrants - they were desperate to find their daughter - apparently UNLIKE DS is acting. If it were my daughter I would say 'YES, I called you here, I want your help, and you can go thru anything you like to find my daughter!!!'


I do agree that LE should have searched DS parents residence and property long before this, but again, I'm not so sure they haven't already searched it, and just wanted to do it again. I'm sure there are PLENTY of things that have been done that 'we' don't know about.

Of course she did. They seized evidence that could be related to her disappearance. I have no idea if what they found links him to her disappearance. From what has been released so far, no. I've not seen a single quote from LE stating what they found linked him to her abduction or whatever.

He didn't live there, and until he actually moved in with them I doubt police could have obtained a warrant to search there.

I've said all along he killed her, or he paid someone to kill her.
If I am right, either way, he's guilty of murder. If he paid someone to do it, he is responsible for her death.

I don't think the McCombs framed Doug. I think they were convinced from the onset that Doug was responsible for the disappearance and told the world about it based upon their own understanding of Venus' and Doug's relationship.

Doug was already under investigation for molesting his children per Venus' complaint, right? If you were in his position, would you go to her dad's house in broad daylight and kidnap her with the father inside the house? If the father saw him within 100 miles of the property he would have dialed 911, right? Sure he would have.

I guess the only point that I am making is that Doug isn't going anywhere and the police can arrest him at any time. But what if he didn't do it? That means there is a dangerous kidnapper/killer out there, and all attention is on Doug because the media said he is guilty without 100% evidence.

Too much evidence to ignore Doug as a suspect. And, semantics aside, that's what he is.

I'm not defending DS. Just looking at the facts as we know them to be right now. I stated early on that because of the distance involved, I didn't think he was the one to actually abduct her, and if he's involved, he hired someone or otherwise recruited another person to take her. Of course he'd be guilty if he hired someone else. Not sure why that would be shocking.
