However, police say that for up to 48 hours prior to that time at least one person, possibly more, was traveling around Newport News, Virginia claiming to be Douglas Stewart.

“He probably must have had a number of Doug Stewart's personal documents,” said Lt. Mike Risko of the Michigan State Police. “We believe that he was pretending to be Mr. Stewart or impersonating Mr. Stewart at a number of different businesses, paying bills, drawing funds, things of that nature.”

Police say the imposter was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, ball cap and dark mirrored sunglasses. They are looking for help in identifying the man they say was pretending to be Douglas Stewart and say if the imposter doesn't reveal himself in the next few days he could be facing serious charges.

I would bet that the ball cap that Douginator was wearing is identical to the one that Genuine Doug bought at the Walmart in Ohio.

****I would love to see that video of the impostor****

LE please release the video if you have one....

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Now we have multiple Doug Stewarts driving all over Newport News.

It must have been like a freakin' Elvis convention.

Where are you seeing multiple imposters? I'm only seeing references to one.

drawing funds
Snipped by me. So the bank let someone in an obvious disguise withdraw funds, even though the signatures couldn't have matched? What the heck kind of bank is this? A lot of banks use fingerprints. Maybe the imposter still had DS's severed hand from when he went to BG.

ATM maybe? On the video?

And hahaha about the hand...it's all fitting together now!

If you make out a check to yourself for cash and endorse the back of it, anyone can cash it.

Yeah, could be, I guess if you trust someone enough to have them be your alibi, giving them your bank info would be a piece of cake.

Do you know Doug? Do you know Venus?

No, I don't know them personally. But I am very resourceful and have seen pictures of her side of the family including extended family, and one of them looks like the Wetman, and another one looks just like Doug, incredibly enough.

But let me add the usual disclaimer by saying I am not "accusing" them of impersonating Doug. lol

I wouldn't want anyone to hang on my every word, ya know.

Investigators say they have evidence that they can't currently discuss which puts Doug in Michigan on the morning Venus disappeared. They also say Doug was back at his home in Virginia just after 8:00 pm the same day.
Ok, he snatches her between 7:30 and 8:30 am. It's at least a 12 hour drive back to NN (over 750 miles, per mapquest), and through NoVA traffic that he would have hit right at the peak of rush hour going away from DC---ever tried to get through that mess??? It's nothing to take 2 hours or more to get from Woodbridge to Fredericksburg... trust me, I know :( ... then into the Richmond/Norfolk/NN traffic? But he's at home, 12 hours after her disappearance. And when does he stop to pee, eat, nevermind do *whatever* to Venus.

Sorry MSP. Don't see that happening.

Why would you purposely direct someone to go where there are cameras, since if it's not you, there's now photographic evidence that proves you have no alibi?

The bank would still require an ID.

I agree. Let me tell you what I think happened. The truck started its route after the kidnapping back to Virginia and Doug wasn't behind the wheel. Doug was in Virginia paying his bills. The truck driver was an imposter from Michigan framing Doug.

I say that because the truck wound up being parked two blocks away from Doug's residence. Whoever drove the truck wasn't sure where Doug even lived. The reason it was parked there was to ensure Doug wouldn't clean the truck out, so the receipt could be found in the front seat. Total setup.

Yes I know. Thank you.

Well if the bank needed a photo ID, how could anyone but Doug use the bank's services?

Yet Doug never reported the truck stolen. Fancy that.
