I try to look at things objectively instead of subjectively. Sorry, the emotional appeal doesn't work on me. Nor does putting words in my mouth.

Answer the question. If a person writes out a will, and a week later they disappear, that is cause to investigate, right?

That is a classic, textbook, indicator of motive, right? That's all that I am asking.

Beane, let me ask you a question, if I may be so bold.

Do you honestly believe that Doug went around looking for someone that looks exactly like him to help him kidnap/kill his wife?

Isn't that..laughable?

Who in their right mind would look at a clone of themselves and agree to such a thing?

I'll be happy to answer, Frank, as soon as you respond to my requests.

We haven't seen anything in the news mentioning BG. The only place we know that "Doug" was on Monday was at the lawyer's office. Other than that, he withdrew money somewhere, paid some bills... but we don't know where.

I think we were just tossing around the BG idea, to see if it would even be possible for an impersonator to go as him. It would be difficult, that's for sure.

Actually, the BG passes do have to figure into this since they took them in the search warrant. They couldn't seize them merely because they have pictures of pretty macaws on them and the msp dude likes birds.

  • #384
But, if Doug himself was scanned into BG on Sunday....

It would depend on how close to the OH receipt that time was--that he scanned in. It's possible for him to have been at BG most of the day, and still have time to be in Ohio that evening to purchase the stuff at Walmart.

If they have him on cam at Walmart, and I'm sure they do (I've never been to a walmart without cams over every register), then that would pretty much destroy any alibi he has for Sunday night.

What requests? I can't keep up with all the posts directed at me.

First time I've been in this thread in ages, and it looks like a middle school playground in here.

Are you serious? How old are you?

Puf, I ask questions and you guys sit back and say I am "fabricating". So I used a forum emote available to all users. What is the problem with that? Are you saying I can't use the emotes now?

I recommend that you do what the two moderators above told you to do. Emotes are fine... but I don't think I'd direct a Loser smiley at a forum moderator.

Just sayin.

I think Frank is or planning to become a defense attorney and was practicing on posters here; trying to show how the prosecution side could be chipped away at by a good defense...but not sure he was sucessful. Still, I am not yet convinced that DS is guilty in this case, only because it has become so preposterous and astonishing. I almost think, if he is the culprit, one could argue his state of mental health:)

This reminds me of the Chris Coleman case Sheri, Garrett and Gavin Coleman - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

This guy sent threatening notes from his own computer and called the police to try to set up some kind of alibi that he was at the gym. Some people are that stupid.

The subject here is not other posters, folks, it's the case. Edit accordingly. My drive home is about 45 minutes.

I just searched for a forum to post this question and don't see one, so I'll ask you. Could mods please put in their sig lines or custom user title or location---somewhere--- that they are forum moderators?

Venus Stewart Case: Police Say Doug was in Michigan hours before disappearance

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY - Michigan State Police Detectives are releasing a couple of new details in the case of Venus Stewart--the woman missing from Colon Township in Saint Joseph County.

In a press release today, MSP "is asking anyone who may have information regarding a person or persons who impersonated Douglas Stewart in the Newport News, Virginia area between Sunday, April 25 and Monday, April 26, 2010, to contact police." They ask anyone who had contact with Mr. Stewart, or someone claiming to be Mr. Stewart, on these dates, to contact police.

Lt. Mike Risko of the Michigan State Police the day Venus disappeared, says a man wearing a hoodie and tinted sunglasses entered a law office in Newport News, Virginia, and claimed to be Douglas Stewart, paying a bill. Police say they don't know if the man would be considered an accessory to a crime at this point, but want to talk to him. Risko went on to say that the State Police now have evidence that Douglas Stewart was in Michigan the night before Venus disappeared, but would not elaborate.

As stated in this link, there seems to be no question that the person who paid DS' attorney bill was not DS.

I think it might be worth speculating who would be willing to do this if the person was no DS. Height and build alone rules out VS, not to mention she is stated as missing/abducted.

You can see all the mods. at the View Forum Leaders at the bottom of every page:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showgroups.php

Thanks, I haven't seen that. I was going by the list at the bottom of the forum, which doesn't include all I've run across, beanE for example. Or even close to the number of ppl listed on your link. I just think it would be very helpful to everyone if they had it listed somewhere in their sig line or user title. Especially with so many mods... that's more than any forum I've ever belonged to (and I have been on several much larger than this one).

It also appears to me that he wanted people in VA to believe it was him paying the bills etc. ~ so that goes to him setting up an alibi, which goes to premeditation. It seems obvious by the attire this "imposter" was wearing, he was trying to conceal his own identity. It would be wise for him to turn himself in before he's charged. MOO

I'm not BeanE, but I'll answer my 2 cents on it...

I never saw the LE say "clone" I saw "impersonator/impostor"

In other words someone pretending to be Doug. Someone who looked vaguely liked him (same general size and colouring) who dressed in his clothes.

That's it.

The guy apparently was only seen in a hoodie and sunglasses. It doesn't matter how much the guy truly looked like him...it was general.

I don't think for a minute that LE is stating that Doug found himself a clone or even someone who looked that much like him. In fact, HAD he found someone who looked more like him, the guy likely wouldn't have been hiding under a sweatshirt, hood, and sunglasses...he'd have been more open.

I suspect Doug found a guy, who, for whatever reason could probably use some money...and likely hopefully (for Doug's sake) wouldn't follow the news (so maybe someone in a shelter or something)...then he offered him money to wear something and deliver some things and withdraw some money from the ATM and probably concocted a whole story about why he was having the guy do it...and figured if LE ever suspected that he was in two places at once, they'd logically question how, and that he'd have found a guy who'd never even hear of Doug, Venus going missing, or LE now looking for the impostor.

Are there any locals from VA that can give us an idea if this is being played up in VA??

  • #399
However, police say that for up to 48 hours prior to that time at least one person, possibly more, was traveling around Newport News, Virginia claiming to be Douglas Stewart.

“He probably must have had a number of Doug Stewart's personal documents,” said Lt. Mike Risko of the Michigan State Police. “We believe that he was pretending to be Mr. Stewart or impersonating Mr. Stewart at a number of different businesses, paying bills, drawing funds, things of that nature.”

Police say the imposter was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, ball cap and dark mirrored sunglasses. They are looking for help in identifying the man they say was pretending to be Douglas Stewart and say if the imposter doesn't reveal himself in the next few days he could be facing serious charges.

http://www.wwmt.com/articles/margin-1377226-page-imposter.html

I would bet that the ball cap that Douginator was wearing is identical to the one that Genuine Doug bought at the Walmart in Ohio.

And maybe LE found the mirrored sunglasses that was worn when they searched Doug's parents house.

Impostor posed as Doug Stewart in Virginia, police say; authorities place him in Michigan at time wife Venus went missing

Michigan State Police investigators say they now have evidence that Douglas Stewart was in Michigan, not Virginia, when his estranged wife Venus, vanished from her parents’ Colon-area home on April 26.

And they believe someone was in Virginia impersonating him at the time.
