Mr Spencer had better do some time too. Remember, they said that whoever the impersonator is should come forward or else...he didn't come forward...they found him...so I think that qualifies as...or else!!!

  • #302
I'm sure Mr. Spencer will be charged. But what in the world would compel someone to get on board with such an evil plan? Is it possible he didn't know what the outcome was going to be? If he did, WHAT AN IDIOT!

I may have missed this, but do we know how he was found? I remember seeing he did not come forward willingly.

If he did know why didn't he go to LE asap? What a sad ending.

Yes, there are things where you can enter the name/number you want to come up on the person's caller ID.

Then you can also choose the voice you want to use. Deep male voice, regular male voice, high female voice, regular female voice... you get the idea.

Someone who knows the person should know it isn't the right voice. But if there is "static" or if it's not someone very familiar with the voice... it can be very effective.

They would be able to prove that though. That he went to the website, or bought the service, or called the number you have to call before you do it... kind of like a calling card situation.

"In recent days, Jasper said, his grandparents were getting calls from someone pretending to be Venus. He believes it was just another attempt by Doug Stewart to throw police off his trail."

About the phone calls to the grandparents, there are all sorts of apps out there to disguise your voice and phone number. I'm guessing that was Doug.

I've been contemplating what on earth would compel RS to do something so - stupid- and one thought comes to mind. Thugs.... You know the kind, who into their 20's, 30's and beyond think they are mafia or gang banger wanna be's. I knew a guy ages ago, his initials are OV, who decided he and his buddies wanted to rob a rich widow down in Florida for her multi carat diamond ring. Didn't want her killed, but he was driving the 'get away' car and the guy who robbed her killed her. He testified against the guy who actually killed the lady which saved him/OV from the DP but will never see the light of day again....

Because of that I think perhaps RS thought this might be some fun tough guy kind of thing......Perhaps even a game of some kind. and perhaps he was led to believe DS would be scaring not murdering his wife.

Can't turn back time and at least he is cooperating.

People like that never change.... imo, cooperating means nothing more than to save his arse because early articles said he did not come forward to police willingly........ LE most likly told him spill it or your screwed. I hope RS does a long long time too when charges are eventually filed. He participated in something in which a mother died, and her children and family will never get over it.... :furious:

I agree, Cubby. But you know the whole "no snitches" code the gang-bangers have these days. It's tragic, IMO. Babies and other innocent people being killed all the time - and everyone is afraid to speak up.

It really shouldn't be so hard to do the right thing. And not for nothin' - but if we want to take our neighborhoods back, people need to STAND UP! Snitch away! Show these lowlifes that we will NOT let them kill our babies or destroy our neighborhoods!!!! Let them murder one another....IN PRISON! Who cares?

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Based on the level of their online relationship/friendship, Doug Stewart clearly felt comfortable in approaching Richard Spencer with the idea of assisting him in attempting to cover up Venus's murder.

During the press conference, St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough said, in reference to Doug Stewart and Richard Spencer:

"Richard Spencer and Doug Stewart conspired together since the beginning of April."

**"Based on information received from numerous sources, including information from Mr. Spencer, Venus is deceased."

"Mr. Spencer told the Michigan State Police why Doug kidnapped and murdered Venus."

"They had been planning this for a couple weeks before Venus disappeared."

"The plan was to get Venus and kill her."

Source: My notes typed while listening to the press conference today and available in this thread.

** I am really curious who or what these numerous sources are!

I agree. not just todays style street gangs, but there are still loose ties everywhere mafia related and mafia wanna be related. These people do not conduct themselves like street gangs so they blend into normal society much more easily, but don't fool yourself. they exist. They get into small stuff, get away with it and progress onto bigger things. Dumb arses.

I'm itching to know what Spencer had to gain from this. If it was not money, perhaps that means he had not yet received payment.

Well, if Spencer knew the plan was to kill Venus there had to be SOMETHING in it for him. What?

Spencer makes me angry. I wish I could ask him how he would EXPLAIN to two young children why he helped their dad plan to murder their mom. :furious:

DS could have pulled the Marine card on him or something as sinister as offering him access to or inappropriate photos of his daughter once he had full custody. For all we know, DS didn't limit his sexual appetitite for babies to just his daughter but could have been involved with Internet child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 as well, something RS might have expressed an interest in.

I wonder how RS feels now that he's learned Doug Stewart is possibly a pedophile, if he didn't know that already from information DS gave him.

Just thinking about RS...............He could have been recruited simply because some woman did him wrong......who knows if that really happened or is imagined. But DS could well have gave him a song and dance about "She is trying to get me for molesting my child" type thing and I am innocent!.....RS may have felt really bad for the guy and being of the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 mentality....felt it was all justified and VS was going to get what she deserved..............???? I don't know if this is what happened but I do know that I have heard various men ( and women too but thats another story!) talk about how bad they got taken to the cleaners on their divorce, child support or whatever...........in some cases thats very true, I know. But depending on the mentality, this all could have simply started by DS venting about VS and how she was out to get him.

Just a thought but maybe Spencer was also divorcing or burned in a bad divorce.
Maybe it was a reciprocal arrangement.

The plot may have been presented to various people in a joking manner then progressed into a serious plan when Doug realized he had a willing participant.

omg that is disgusting

it's horrible enough that people would help him plan a murder & cover-up his involvment and now someone else is in the mix torturing her grandparents

who are these people & how was doug able to manipulate them into helping?! I hope the FBI can track down the callers and nail them too

You know, my was first reaction was that this was Doug calling them using one of those voice changer things. But if he got Spencer to actually go so far as to do the impostinator thing - for no money!!! - I guess he could talk someone into calling Venus' poor parents and tormenting them.

The other thing would be some anonymous internet person. I was thinking of that person in Phuong Le's case who sent the text messages to Phuong's brother. IIRC the messages were that Phuong had been sighted. And we know now she had been murdered :( That person was arrested. The internet stuff on missing persons cases - all the Facebook carp - is way out of control. I can see somebody doing this to Venus' parents.

No matter who did this, I hope LE gets them, arrests them, and I hope they spend prison time for it. It's just such a horrifying thing to do.

why is that legal?

I hope Venus's parents are doing better... They now have 2 children to care for. I could barely sleep last night thinking about her poor mother in the hospital...

I can only imagine the pain and agony this poor family is dealing with in the first few days after the the initial shock of something like this. It's one thing to have your suspicions, because there's always that shred of hope that your suspicions are wrong and that maybe she will come back... But to get confirmation that your daughter is never going to return and it's because the man she feared the most killed her, I just can't imagine how that would feel.

I'm praying for Venus's family today, praying that they have the strength to be strong for her babies. Praying that they find the answers they need, even though they are certainly not the ones they want. And praying that her babies will come through this unscathed.

I'm so mad at Doug Stewart for doing this to his children! How could he?!? How could he do this to his babies? How could he take away their mommy??

Police convinced Venus Stewart is dead: Cooperation by alleged accomplice Richard Spencer key to murder charge
Published: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 8:01 AM

SNIPPED....................................................................

McDonough said Wednesday, however, that police now allege Douglas Stewart was able to lure his estranged wife from the Driftwood Drive residence, after which he abducted her, killed her and disposed of her body.

Investigators allege that Douglas Stewart traveled from Newport News, Va., where he resided, on April 25 and stopped at a Walmart in Ohio to purchase a tarp, gloves, shovel and hat that were listed on a receipt found in his pickup truck. Police have information that after the alleged abduction and murder, Stewart traveled back to Virginia, where he met with Spencer, exchanged clothes that Spencer had worn to impersonate him and the two men went their “separate ways.”

With Douglas Stewart now charged and jailed, McDonough said “priority one” is to locate Venus Stewart’s body. He said police “have ideas” about where her body may be located and how she died, but declined to elaborate.

The prosecutor also acknowledged that a possible plea deal for Douglas Stewart in exchange for information on the whereabouts of his estranged wife’s body is “something to be discussed at a later date.”

'Why did Mommy leave us?' Young daughters, parents struggle to cope with loss
Published: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 8:22 AM

CENTREVILLE — Her three-year-old daughter recognizes her mother’s picture when it flashes across the TV screen in a news report about her disappearance.

Then her attention is drawn to pictures of horses and she's back in her toddler's world, where life is safe and uncluttered.

Her sister, 5, is not so easily diverted, family friends say.

"She asks, 'Why did Mommy leave us?' and at first her grandparents told her their mother had gone away for a time with their daddy," explained Brenda Lanning, of Bronson, a long-time friend of Larry and Therese McComb, Venus Stewart’s parents.

But as time passed, Lanning said, the answer to the five-year-old's reoccurring question changed.
