The Zodiac watch brand was an expensive Swiss brand. If he was homeless, one would think the unidentified man would have sold it. There's no description of a camp or evidence of him living in the park. I would lean toward foul play. The condition of the remains could make the cause of death difficult to identify, especially if no firearm was used. Even if there are no abrasions or broken bones, homicide is still possible. A perpetrator might possibly be unaware of the value of the watch, or decided it would be difficult to pawn. Another possibility is that it was a targeted killing of some kind, with wallet and ID removed to make identification difficult, with monetary gain a low priority. Like so many old cases today, DNA could be the only hope....
