Witness in case of missing farmer Mike Gaine sketched weapons when speaking to gardaí
A man interviewed as a witness in connection with missing Kerry farmer Mike Gaine sketched a series of weapons for gardaí during questioning.m.independent.ie
This is behind a paywall .Does anyone have access to give posters a synopsis of what it says .
The man who was living on Mike’s property has provided a witness statement to the gardaí and is considered a “witness of interest”, though he is not under suspicion of wrongdoing and was not interviewed under caution. He is 1 of about 100 people who have provided statements.
A number of items, believed to be hunting equipment, were found on the nearly 1000 acres that comprises Mike’s property but the gardaí will not comment at this time on their relevance to Mike’s disappearance.
Gardaí superintendent David Callaghan describes the case as “unique and challenging” and says they are no closer to finding him than they were 3 weeks ago.
That’s about it from this particular article, nothing really new.
Going 'up north' is most likely referring to Northern Ireland, it's a common way to refer to NI in Ireland.I have a few questions and thoughts about some of the info we have received from LE and MSM reports about MG’s disappearance:

4. Re: MG going “up north” to buy a tractor or other farm equipment. It is said he did this when he needed a replacement for a broken tractor. How far from his farm was this? When he went, did he take a trailer to load up the purchase or was it driven back? If so, who would drive him there?
It didn’t! The only mention of that was in the headline, unfortunately.Thank you very much appreciate your time in writing this post up
Did the article delve further into the weapon sketches done by the "witness" or was the headline clickbait
Okay, thanks @mangomouse. That’s helpful. Trying to narrow down the possibilities/probabilities here.Going 'up north' is most likely referring to Northern Ireland, it's a common way to refer to NI in Ireland.
Depending on how much was spent on the new machinery, it's possible it would be delivered, as a sweetener in any deal.. Alternatively he may take a trailer, if the machinery is not too big. But the journey would take several hours from Kenmare to get up over the border. You definitely wouldn't drive a tractor from NI to Kerry.
That's an interesting way of describing the witness. The man who was living on Mike’s property has provided a witness statement to the gardaí and is considered a “witness of interest”, though he is not under suspicion of wrongdoing and was not interviewed under caution. He is 1 of about 100 people who have provided statements.

Although an American he let live rent-free in a derelict property on his farm about six years ago still lives at the farm, it is not known how the man felt about the prospect of looking after the cattle.
U.S. tourists in Ireland are only allowed to stay for 90 days before needing a visa. So is the American in Ireland illegally, or does he have some kind of long-stay permit?
I would think that immigration status matters because if he is living illegally that could always be grounds for something bad occurringGood questionon the other hand he could be an American with irish heritage and have dual citizenship. I suppose his emigration status is kind of irrelevant . My question would be how did a former American marine become homeless in ireland. He was allegedly living on Mike's land for around 6 years .But was that accounting for the time before Mike noticed him and offered him accomodation?
Sorry if this sounds judgmental and I know lots of people find themselves homeless through circumstances that are not their fault . Landlords can sell up and tenants can't find accommodation in the current housing crisis in ireland. But imo and it moo ,aren't a large percentage of homeless people in those circumstances through addictions and mental health issues . Was this man known to be mentally unstable ? He seemed mentally together enough to be of help to Mike repairing vehicles and the like .
I do have my suspicion by the way the media are wording articles as in putting witness in brackets etc
I came across this article this morning and wondered why the garda were being so secretive . I know a young man called Luke price is missing in limerick city since January but I did wonder if it was Mike the area garda are searching is 130km from kenmare and would be a 3 hour journey by car to get to it so I'm assuming a 3 hour journey back . I did search rivers running through kerry and limerick and the Shannon does . Could be nothing I will keep looking for updates
