Oh Floh! Aren't you in the know? It was 'hot', so if DAWGIE is still here I am sure she will tell you before she has to go! :D

To summarize:

-- nothing regarding the SA kit not being done is a terrible blunder; ME's should have their own policy about when they are done and when they aren't. And supposing the ME's office didn't have a policy that stated they'll do a SA exam on 100% of all homicide females, then the LE agency can/should request it. Then at time of autopsy, will be discussed. Decision can be changed at that time.

-- Decision to not collect alleged bloody sheets and socks, same as I covered in my post a few days ago after talking to the Director of the Crime Lab. The items in questions could have had samples pulled, collected and sent through the chain of custody - leaving the sheet and socks behind. Again, no big red flag there. (Again, many agencies take the entire item; but the crime lab techs and scientists say it's not necessary.)

The above are reassuring to those of us who hope a case will be ready for presentation, but not mindboggling.

The "hot" news as someone said - ya know the saying "it's a small world?" Interesting how forensic scientists that currently live and work in Texas, used to live and work in a certain part of North Carolina - and are very familiar with the policies/procedures/inner workings of certain agencies/bureaus in NC.

Hi Jilly, no problem.

It was very reassuring to hear what he had to say

And although we're anxious for an arrest now, I got to read their 2006 summary report that identified their key case hits (whether by DNA, fingerprints, etc.). Nice to see the criminologists who took such pride in seeing their cases that were 3-7 years and older (one was a 1981 murder), finally solved due to their evidence. I have never waivered on the conviction of the LE officers who worked this murder...and it's nice to see how excited the criminologists are when they finally get those hits they're wanting to find. Mr. DNA Guru is close to cracking a 20 year old murder, and he's just so excited at the prospect of being able to give the news to the LE agency, so that the family will know more of the story. I always enjoy visiting the lab - it's always interesting and educational. They keep getting new equipment, etc. and are more than happy to show what they can do.

I know we all hope and pray for a swift resolution and justice for Michelle.

Thanks DD :)

I was left out too, but not to worry coz I usually find out eventually, hehe. Things are nutso in my area at the moment! :( Is there a full moon or something?)

Have to go read back and am glad you guys and gals didn't post too much coz I've been called in twice so far and am tempted to disconnect my phone so I can at last finish my coffee, grrr.

Tell Mr DNA, I have found a place in the USA online where I can order choccies and have them delivered :) http://www.schakolad.com/home.asp

for those getting pm's from a certain poster asking you not to post things...i'm wondering if that poster doesn't have firsthand knowledge of the killer reading here

and the killer would also have to be in close proximity to hurt the one who the poster doesn't want you talking about :furious:

i hope LE has their eyes on the person they believe to be the perp!

Now this I find interesting. Can you pm me and fill me in as I haven't got one of those "omerta" pm's. TIA :)

Sami

Oh! I just woke up to who the 'omerta' is about, but still interested in what the poster had to say.

LOL re Mr DNA and the ongoing dark chocolate saga - I had to pay off my debt in cherry cheesecake and a vanilla birthday cake slice - no chocolate even! But amazingly enough, I found out he's not picky!

I'm curious Sami, as to what you know - does what he said (I know I only summarized, rather than give all the detail) sound similar to policies/procedures where you are? You can PM me, if you'd rather. I'm just so glad to hear there's someone here that still has connections to a certain area in NC and knows the quality of work they do.... ;) I think he's starting to get intrigued with this case, especially when I explained about the daughter left with her mommy and trying to find bandaids for her "boo boo's." Of course, anyone with a heart would find that disturbing to the nth degree.

OMG, I'm busted out laughing at that! That's awesome. This little guy is just that - I'm not big and he's smaller than me...until we start paying him off in cheesecakes and chocolate. Cool!!!!

Come up with a few questions for him...and then start baking!

He's gonna love us! He'll be putty in our hands

Hmmm, we'll have to get creative...or take cheesecake talk to the O/T thread, LOL.

At least here where I work? Ummm, you could probably get pretty much anything you wanted, LOL.

I'd still like to know what spin the JY team was trying to spin with the subject of confiscated condoms. Was it ever stated how the poster became aware of condoms being taken? :waitasec: I was under the impression that these weren't listed on the s/w inventory...and if Jason's not talking to even family (?), then how would a friend become aware of such an item being taken?
