Raisincharlie, don't be too disappointed yet because they have simple preliminary testing that they can do that will confirm if a stain is blood or blood present. The more extensive testing is where they might be stuck at on the vehicle.
I'm very interested to see if LE went to the hotel Jason stayed at and looked there for blood. If they did find any they'd need to do more extensive testing and that would be a major holdup in making an arrest.
Strach,

I'm not terribly disappointed, they still have the truck, that says to me something was found and I suspect you are quite correct. Perhaps you know this and maybe can enlighten me: can stains observed under luminol be sampled and tested without interfrence from the chemicals used to "light up" the sample area?

As for the hotel - that may be iffy I think. I'm not sure anyone but Jason would know what hotel he stayed at. There are only three ways I think the police could determine that in a hurry, if there was an 11pm call from JY to MY and JY used the hotel phone system - LE could hit the call back on the home phone and MYs phone to see where the last received call originated from or; when JYs SUV was impounded there was a brief case with receipts inside; or in the brief conversation JY told LE where he was. Unless one of these events occured, I'm not sure they could have found a hotel quickly enough to find untainted evidence still remaining. Its possible though - let's hope this is the case.

Strach,

I think the vehicle probably was not tested via luminol based on what I've read. So I'll answer my own question - luminol messes things up. Here is an interesting yet simple way of understanding the process:

http://people.howstuffworks.com/luminol3.htm

"For example, hidden blood spatter patterns can help investigators locate the point of attack and even what sort of weapon was used (a bullet makes blood splatter very differently than a knife does). Luminol may also reveal faint bloody shoe prints, which gives investigators valuable information about the assailant and what he or she did after the attack.

Maybe he handed the cops a receipt from his hotel just like Scott did with the Berkeley launch ticket.

In all seriousness though, we sometimes use our life experience to help us with our sleuthing. FWIW, and it happened 34 years ago but:

My first husband was killed while I was out of town, more than three hundred miles away. My FIL and my bro and his gf drove all the way there to tell me and take me and my 3 mos old son home. The news reports were out on tv and newspaper, but not giving the victim's name during the first reports

Where do you think I stayed for the first two weeks afterwards? With my FIL, although my family lived just a few miles away.

I was with my husband's family day in and day out for two weeks afterwards. Of course my family came over, but I stayed with my husband's dad and extended family.

That's how a grieving family acts, IMHO. They stick together in their grief. That is, if there's nothing to hide. :(

fran
So sorry you had to go through that..

Now i loved my MIL dearly (took years to get there but i did love her) and i would have to be honest i would have been with my family. Because of family dynamics, mine is more emotional and his more restrained. I don't find him staying with his family and not hers doesn't really seem unusual to me.

I keep checking in too hoping for something new. I think everyone is on the Kim family thread. I was watching that unfold before I started posting on it. Hopefully that will be resolved soon.

Since nothing new is happening I decided to go back to square 1. Note that attached link indicates that the reporter Sloanne H, indicates she had spoken with a relative of Michelle's from NY who told her that Michelle was supposed to be at work that Friday morning. Click on the link that says Video - a couple of paragraphs down - not the one with the picture.

Ah, excellent find, raisincharlie. (as usual):)

This leads me to think even more so that JY figured that her co-workers would miss her and make some calls....leading to someone else finding her dead. (Earlier than 1:30 p.m.)

When calls didn't come in, he had to design a way to get someone there.

It will be extremely interesting to me to find out the facts about the fax. If it was something he ordered or arranged early Friday (after she hadn't been reported awol), I'll believe even more that he was setting Meredith up to find Michelle....so he wouldn't have to.

I also noted in the link you posted that the neighbor directly across the street from them didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I'd been wondering that myself.

I was planning on catching up here and with email today, but you should see the snow outside my window! There's almost no visibility so I ended up keeping my youngest home from school. We are supposed to get 8"!!!

Hot cocoa, anyone?

(edited to ask if anyone knew what the babysitting arrangements were for Cassidy when both JY and MY worked?)

e-Yup, Taximom (hi hon !) would love a Grande-Maxi size! Thanks.... it's even cold here in the gulf tonight, being winter 'n all. 18 degrees Celsius .... brrrrr.... blood thins after almost a decade...

BINGO! I agree with your post 100% and seriously feel he was setting up Meredith, Tax. On top of which - on arrival he snubs them, LE and high-tails it outta Dodge to brevard with his Atties?? RIGHT after soliciting Meredith to collect this fax .... maybe the fax was there - and for that I suggest HE sent it to ensure it fit with his alibi.

5 weeks is a bit too much to "shut the ? up" dontcha think?

We're not the only ones asking these questions. Jurors will, too.... And UNTIL Le can provide reasonable and rational evidence to the contrary, JY's a simmering goose.

If there's an arrest, I hope it's just before Xmas so whoever did this gets cold turkey for 4 / 5 days until bail gets posted! (And I trust bail will be DENIED!)

Oh, thanks for that info, Mama-cita. I barely remember it but wasn't sure if it was "fact" or "crap". (heh)

Off-topic alert!!

I'm having such a hard time waiting for January 8th to get here!!! I can't imagine being on the team and waiting all this time to play! Go Bucks!

Just passing PSA her grande-maxi hot cocoa to help warm the mind and soul. It's freezing here too. There's some for everyone! (especially you in the barn, raisincharlie!)

Does anyone have the scoop on the prison that JY might be going to if he's convicted? Is it the same as where Michael Peterson went? I wondered what the conditions were like there. I suppose it's different depending on the penalty given, right?

I know, don't count my chickens before they hatch! I just like the thought of JY locked up not gallivanting (sp) all over the USA once this has been solved.
