MDHHS announces next COVID order, revising rules for Michigan restaurants, stadiums, gatherings (clickondetroit.com)
New order scheduled to be in effect Feb. 1 to Feb. 21
...Bars and restaurants have to close by 10 p.m. They must also collect contact information from diners for contact tracing...
I wonder if this will be phone# only or address, too?
Oh, dear. It never ceases to amaze how these measures are so half-baked. I believe Australia has a government app that people have to use to check in everywhere they go, so the contact tracing process is automated and universal. Yet Michigan is going to have a hostess keep track of names of diners in hopes of following up? It's like something out of a satirical movie. In my opinion this only applies to certain businesses in the hopes that the Governor can collect enough data to say "see, I told you so!"
(The Arizona system seems positively enlightened, by comparison. Here, if a place doesn't feel safe, folks are free to go elsewhere.)
