Freezing rain where I'm at Western Missouri...then comes the snow storm.

Just got back from store and xmas shopping. Storm was supposed to come later today! Already it's starting.

Looks like tomorrow we will be digging ourselves out of the snow.

Boothill (where family is, and I lived for 1 yr.) ( Pemiscott County) is under Severe Thunderstorm warning with some rotation.

I canceled an appointment with my ophthalmologist today and rescheduled for next month. It has stopped snowing but there is significant blowing and drifting with intermittent whiteout conditions. Snow plow came through our sub and pushed snow across the bottom of the driveway. Roads are reportedly snow-covered and slippery with numerous spinouts, accidents, etc. Glad that I'm inside and don't have to venture out anywhere.

At least it's too cold to snow here?

I'm sick of it! We're at 15 degrees right now, which actually doesn't feel so bad, and tomorrow we're going to get up to 25, which will actually feel balmy. Then, by Monday? The *high* is 15 degrees below zero. It's Friday night, and a number of schools have already cancelled for Monday. We're going to get down to 25 below on Sunday night with windchills down to 55 below, if not worse (every time I check the forecast, it gets worse). And...ugh, I have to work until midnight on Sunday.

My work already sent out an email telling us that we are considered 'essential personnel' and that we are A ) expected to show up and B ) expected to stay at the hospital until the blizzard /snow emergency /travel ban is over.

For the record, I have NEVER in my 37 years as a nurse missed a day of work because of cold or snow - this includes the coldest night ever recorded in Chicago ( -81 wind chill - we spent the whole flipping night thawing out people who didn't think it was 'that cold' out.).

I am in Indiana and we are going to get hit by this snow and cold weather also. Below zeor temps and some reports say 4-6 inches and some are saying 12+ inches.

I absolutely have to go to the store today and get food. I need my prescriptions as well but that won't be able to happen today. My bad for not paying closer attention to the weather.

I am thinking about waiting until closer to midnight to at least get some food.

Winds are suppose to be bad also. Hopefully, there won't be a lot of power outages.

And of all times I lost my gloves 2 days ago, longest I ever had a pair without losing them .GRRRRRRRRR BRRRRRRRRR 3 more months of this torture. Be safe everyone.

Winter storm update... sort of a good news, bad news update.... The latest computer models are now forecasting five inches of snow for the northern part of the Jasper District and what looks like three inches in the southern portion. That is probably going to be the only good news in this post. Precipitation is expected to start midday on Sunday. Be careful if you head out for Church in the morning. Bad news is what hasn't changed: the expectation of high winds and bitter cold. Forecasters are anticipating a wind chill for Monday to possibly hit -40 degrees. Brrr. With the dynamics of the storm changing, the central and northern parts of Indiana are expected to take a beating with the snowfall, potentially receiving more than a foot of snow. If you had any intentions of traveling north, please reconsider.
