We dodged the major bullet and got less than half the predicted snowfall. Only one local (private) school closing, and I won't have to cancel an afternoon appointment due to poor driving conditions. DH cleared the driveway this morning, but our street has yet to be plowed. There's been enough traffic that I shouldn't get stuck in a couple of inches of new snow when leaving the sub.

It is just warm enough here that we are getting thunderstorms. The water has no where to go. It's suppose to get up in the fifties today and then start dropping back down to below freezing temps. They are asking everyone to clear the storm drains from snow so water can get in them.

What a crazy winter.

n~t: it is thundering and lightening while snow is just pouring down! I only saw this one other time while we were stationed in Kansas.. It is very bizarre! We are also supposed to be getting 50 mph wind gusts later

I have to return to the imaging center for additional mammo pix. If the roads are bad, I will call to reschedule. 2:30 will mean heavy traffic in the area, and I don't want to be driving with bad roads and/or heavy traffic. Dark and gloomy here now but no weather activity yet.

Right after I posted, DH called to tell me that it is snowing very hard where he is and that I shouldn't go out. While I was calling to reschedule my appointment, it started snowing really hard but no thunder yet. Freezing rain and high winds on tap for tomorrow :scared:

I agree with your dh bette... mister nurse tells me that it is thundering in Ypsi too and lots of snow coming down. cars are driving really slow on my road and it looks like they are becoming snow covered and pretty soon they are saying that we will have some freezing rain and 50 mph winds blowing all of this mess around :-(

Metro Detroit facing chance of sleet, rain, fog today, then strong winds

Metro Detroit could endure sleet, rain and fog Thursday before winds are expected to pick up past midnight, reaching gusts up to 60 mph.

The National Weather Service in White Lake Township also has issued a winter weather advisory that will go into effect at 10 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.

“It’s what we call busy weather,” said Mike Richter, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “We will have precipitation starting late Thursday morning and then into the afternoon. We’ll start out with a wintery mix of freezing rain and sleet, but it will change over to rain as temperatures warm up starting at about lunch time.” ...
