DETROIT -
A heat advisory is now in effect for all of SE Michigan, which means the heat and humidity is getting more and more dangerous and is not going away anytime soon.

In fact, it’s a 36-hour heat advisory carrying through today, tonight, and all day tomorrow.

Highs will be in the low to mid 90s with heat indices in the triple digits...

Promises promises, it is Friday and still hot.

It finally cooled off enough to open windows last night. We got some heavy downpours on Friday night, thunder, and lightning, but we didn't lose power. Unfortunately, there were a lot of power outages in Oakland County including our favorite market where DH enjoyed "shopping in the dark" yesterday.

Yeah the it rained here yesterday too and the heat finally broke a little. Upper 80's today, so still hot but not as bad as before.

I didn't need an email alert to know that storms are on the way. It has been eerily dark with rumbles of thunder for the last hour or so. I hope we don't lose power

DETROIT -
We didn't get much relief from the heat overnight with morning low temps in the mid to upper 70s. And, the Heat Advisory continues today with temps soaring into the low 90s this afternoon.

Heat indices or feels like temps will be in the middle 90s again.

An approaching cold front will bring a threat of strong to severe storms later today and tonight...

We are right in the heart of the risk area for severe storms later today.

As our heat and humidity increase today, there’s a chance for spotty showers and storms through the early afternoon but the main event will be in the late afternoon or early evening. Keep your eyes to the skies and on the radar right here on clickondetroit.com.

The main threats include damaging winds, heavy downpours, and deadly lightning. The bulk of the heavy rain and strong storm activity will be after 4pm and may last until 8 or 9pm. Then, more light rain is likely through tonight...

Stage set for Michigan's autumn color show

Spring weather, summer rains promise fall bonanza

Fall hues are slowly emerging from northern Michigan to Metro Detroit, as if Mother Nature is pulling down a colorful window shade on what was a lush green summer.

Colors this fall, which begins Sunday, should be radiant as a result of great weather this summer.

“We had good weather in early spring,” said Bert Cregg, associate professor in Michigan State University’s horticulture and forestry departments. “This year, I think we are in good shape, since most of the state in the last few weeks has gotten some pretty good rain. That has helped a lot.”

Like a magnet, the kaleidoscope of fall leaf colors is a draw for a Sunday drive or a weekend getaway, translating into an economic boost for the state.

“Fall helps to extend our tourism season,” said Michelle Begnoche, spokeswoman for Pure Michigan, the state’s travel and tourism site. “It attracts potentially a different group of traveler to Michigan. Not everyone wants to go to the beach. Fall color tours are definitely a significant part of our fall tourism.” ...

Tornadoes Hit Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa: Reports of Injuries and Damage, but No Deaths

OMAHA, Neb. — Tornadoes swept through Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa Friday night, damaging property in all three states.

Wayne, Neb., saw some of the greatest damage from tornadoes where where at least 10 buildings were destroyed and five were heavily damaged in the town of 9,600, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Mayor Ken Chamberlain said at least 15 people were injured, with one person in critical condition. He said all of the residents in the northeast Nebraska town were accounted for, but the storm caused millions of dollars in damage to an area that includes businesses and the city's softball complex.

Early reports indicate several businesses were destroyed, including a John Deere dealership. Photos showed crushed grain bins, overturned farm equipment and a gas station with shattered windows.

We had to be evacuated from our house because of no power and trees/power lines down. This is the pool outside of the motel room we are in right now. We got over 4 feet of snow in our area.

Found out this morning that the first time our power MIGHT be back on is Wednesday. It has been out since early Friday morning. Too bad we can't deduct the pro-rated amount of days lost from our bill; Black Hills Power's rates are really high.

South Dakota and Wyoming were hit hard with snow, especially the reservations.

It is forecast to be a cold Winter with more than average snow amounts. It is only Fall, so I am thinking the prediction is correct.

Stock up on supplies...to heck with a snow shovel, buy a snow plow! I'm hoping the predictions are over exaggerated.
