Miley Cyrus Embarrassed by Vanity Fair Photo Shoot - Racy Photos

I agree. I had to do a double take....I was like....is THAT HER DAD? At first I thought it was some other (older) guy, the way that she was all sprawled on him.... and when I realized it was Billy Ray, I almost threw up.

This is what makes the perceptions of the pictures being bad. I took a pic of my 7 year old granddaughter leaned back across her grandpa. If someone were to say to me that it looked pornograghic I'd have to smack 'em dead in the face! My ganddaughter loves Miley/Hannah Montana. She doesn't see VF magazine. But, even if she did, in her childish innocence (which so many people have lost in this day and age in their quest for someone to lynch) she would just say, "Look how pretty she is Grandma." She has a HM nightgown and a HM poster in her room. She watches HM every day and will continue to do so until she tires of it. Not because others think she's a nasty little twit now. Shame on people who have to make everything ugly.

If a picture taken in the Cyruses back yard during a picnic showed Miley leaned back against her father, same clothes, same pose, it would be put in the family album and brought out later and people would gush over it. Put a professional behind the camera and it becomes "innapropriate" or "pornographic." Nasty minds.

No, it's the pose. It does look like the old guy should be her adoring boyfriend. It's not an appropriate teen father/daughter pose. She's lying in his lap!!! Has nothing to do with having a "nasty" mind. She also sports the "come hither look" and pout, complete with tossled hair, dark red lipstick, and his arm around her.
P.S. JonBenet had professional photos taken in her backyard too. Didn't make them any less inappropriate!

I wonder if they told them that the photos with the two of them together were just going to be from the shoulders up...meaning not showing her half shirt and posed over him like that. Maybe that's what they mean by deceived. If the photo had been taken of them like that as just headshots, no one would have any idea how she was posed on him. Other than that, thinking the angle of the camera was somewhere else, I don't know how they were deceived.

this is the caption VF is putting with the photo. if MC did not refuse to do the pose at first how would she know how annie reacted to being told no?

I think the way they are intertwined as father and older teen looks very intimate. Maybe they just don't have the right look on their face to go with the pose. Perhaps if they were laughing up a storm together, it wouldn't look like boyfriend/girlfriend. I am not saying there's anything going on between them!

As far as the picture with her and the sheet goes, y'all just know there's going to be some girls on myspace trying to mimic that. Now, if my 15yr old had someone take a picture of her like that and put it on myspace, you can bet there would be some repercussions.

Annie Leibowitz is not the photographer for VF just because she's a great photog. She's there to cause exactly what is happening right now, with ANY star. Anyone remember Demi Moore and her naked, pregnant pose? Madonna? There are countless others. She may be good, but she definitely took advantage of a 15 yr old here and all the dim-witted, stars-in-their-eyes, supposed ADULTS that were with her.

for me the fact it is posed is the problem. i have pictures of my daughter in her fathers lap. i have told her to sit in her fathers lap and taken a picture. i have never asked her to pout or pull up her shirt to show off her belly. this is not a family photo that caught a candid moment and we then see something never intended. every inch of their bodies are placed exactly as the photographer wants to give the impression wanted.

a fifteen year old girl was told to take off her shirt and bra. she was wrapped in a silky cloth and told to use it to only cover her breast so she appears nude. they fluff her hair and paint on pouty lips. now she is told how to tilt her chin down and look at the camera with her painted up smokey eyes. so is it the fact the child is famous or the photographer is famous that makes people see this as anything but child ?

That is such bs though. You can say no to Annie and you can say no to Vanity Fair. Miley wasn't there alone - her parents and all her handlers were there. For her parents to say that this must have happened in the last ten minutes after they left is also bs. I don't buy that for a second and they are all trying to save face. I remember reading Miley's comments after the shoot and she was so excited about these pictures. Additionally, Miley and her handlers probably also had some what of a say in which pictures were used. There is no way you can convince me that this entire thing was not calculated. We are just witnessing Miley and her family, handlers, etc trying to save face since people are upset about the pictures. I have mixed feelings about the pictures and I admittedly think Annie the photographer is one of the best in the business.

I will say that the backlash against Miley could be spotted coming from a mile away. We build people up and make them huge and then we get angry when they inevitably don't live up to our standards, and seek ways to knock them off their pedestals that we put them on. Its the vicious cycle of celebrity.

LOL, sorry to go off-topic...I know what you mean by "handlers" but whenever I read it in this context I think of "handlers" as in zoo handler or a handler of a commodity.

CC, this is just so far from . This is a beautiful photo and reactions smack of it's the little hussy's fault that I HAD to molest her. I completely and totally agree with keeping our children an innocent as long as possible. Trust me, my daughters could write a book on all the stuff they weren't allowed to do, but all their friends were.

Anyway, I think it's a beautiful photo and it's fear of nasty minds that have colored our perception. Even the reaction to the photo of her and her dad ... I'm just not seeing what others are. I just see a beautiful girl and her father.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I'll tell you I pitched a righteous fit over Brittney Spears little Lolita slutty school girl video and further nastiness and I'm just not seeing that with this photo.

I think I am more angry that the parents didn't stop this then at Miley. I hope she has learned her lesson and will choose to be a good role model. My DD is 3 and loves Hannah Montana. I also seen on Disney channel that Zoe has a new moving coming out, that is Jayme Lynn Spears who is now about 6 months pregnant. I know people make mistakes, I had my sone when I was 18 but I don't think they should be role models on Disney channel for our children.

you are not a world famous photographer yet your child's picture looks artistic. you photo shopped a strap in because your child could appear nude. that was not your plan. i think the picture of your daughter looks angelic with or without the strap. the picture of MC looks like she is crawling out of bed nude.
