Minimum Wage Boost Races Through House

Thanks, Janet. I was afraid to mention to Cal that I spent more than 10 years in higher education to qualify for a job that paid less than I was already making.

10 years and you got a job that pays less than minimum wage? What was your major? Modern Democratic Success Stories?

You all seem to be handling it well. I'm just trying to save the thread. I think all short of name calling should be ok.

I think, given the subject, we are all doing pretty well. I probably have a contract or two on my life, but that's okay. :D

Theater. (I didn't say I made less than minimum wage, just less than my "day job" at law firms.)

I make WAY less than my "day job" at law firms too. Sucks, don't it?

Hmm yeah, it probably would have been nice of me to apologize as well. If I stepped over the line somewhere I apologize as well, Jeana.
I'm sorry I was too braindead to do this right away and instead went on the whole 'awwww don't lock it' routine.

Sincerely,
JanetElaine

Yeah, likewise, no offense meant to anyone.

We're just arguing amongst ourselves.

Sometimes I feel like this is couples therapy where the use of the word YOU is off limits because it is too inflammatory.

So you had couples therapy? Sounds interesting . . . Did it work?

Not to worry. Everyone knows liberals can't shoot straight. (See Reagan and Pope John Paul II assassination attempts.)

A lib with a gun is too scarey to imagine. :)

Why do you think we all support gun control?

Ahh, I got you.

But you bring up a good point. Some people do certain jobs...theatre, indigent attorney, etc. because they are labors of love. That's a totally different story. That's sacrifice for what you love or someone else.

In your instance, your situation is by choice. You could go back and work at the law firm. So you clearly aren't who I have in mind with regards to this topic.

I'm in favor of it as well, as long as I get to keep mine.

As emotional as most liberals are, DEFINITELY! A good conservative will shoot you but at least he/she will know WHY! :D ;)

Is it a big one or is that too personal?

And they won't miss, so you won't have to spend the rest of your life in a pesky wheelchair.

Well clearly, it didn't work.....she couldn't shake me! :D

Actually, I saw it in some comedy movie or tv show a while back. The therapist made crazy rules where the couple couldn't use the word "YOU" because it was accusator nor "I" because it was selfish. Imagine trying that!

Haven't you heard? Since the conservative half of the country achieved mass apoplexy over a simple (and apparently none too satisfying) 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, you don't get to accuse liberals of being "emotional" any more.

It's just an exercise, not a religious commandment. Other execises ban "you" but require "I" so as to emphasize that observations such as "I feel you are condescending" are subjective, not declarations of fact.

(My partner's a therapist - which will surprise no one here - but my knowledge also comes mostly from movies.)

Well, see now there.....someone who holds views similar to those espoused in the thread I am responding to (see no YOU in there! :D).....go.

I can't speak on behalf of the entire contingent of conservatives but it was never about the lewinski that Monica gave Bill. It was about the fact that he lied under oath and perjured himself. Subtle distinction, you might counter. Except for the fact that our legal system is based on true testimony under oath. It is about telling the truth when you don't want to. Otherwise, that cheating business partner of yours or that drunk that killed your family member can say anything under oath.

Hey, clearly Bill and Hill were together at least once in their lives because you have Chelsea. If I were Bill, I would be out there trying my best to get that rubbed off me too! :D
