What is "semi-nude"??? Sounds like bathing suit season to me.

I think it is interesting that this girl raised an unpopular opinion and is being trashed so bad. She lost. Oh well. But to say that Perez Hilton calling her an "ignorant *****" was more classy than her is ridiculous. That is not quality journalism, and neither is a single thing on his website.

Then for people to go looking for her medical records and try to dig up anything they can to smear her seems a little cheap. Did they do this for any of the other contestants or only the ones who had differing opinions to the almighty Perez?

She may be completely wrong, but no one deserves to be ripped apart like this over an opinion. She doesn't even have an ounce of power to do anything about that opinion!

This is why people hate the media.

Did somebody really call Perez Hilton "more classy"?! I seriously doubt even he would make such a claim.

What I said was that PH's view is the currently unpopular one, at least in terms of the population as a whole. In that sense, his stance is braver. (And clearer. I still maintain Miss Cali's original answer was a lame attempt to straddle the fence; since then, she's made her position clearer.)

Otherwise, I agree with SCM: Miss Cali has done nothing BUT court publicity since the pageant. While I agree the media are often invasive, this isn't a good example.

And regarding the Miss whomever who was drinking and partying-I expect the pageant is similar to an employer in that they cannot fire you for having a "disability"-if she stated that she was an addict and needed help, I believe they are obligated to provide it...jmo.

Interesting legal question, believe09. Disability laws and show business always make for intriguing clashes.

In the case SCM mentions, Donald Trump called a press conference and made a big show of "forgiving" the girl and sending her to rehab. (ETA: maybe he was acting on the advice of his attornies.)

Indeed she was showing more breast in her bathing suit than in the pic. But hey, they are after her so they will follow the rule to the letter. I predict they use it to de-tiara her, or de-sash her or whatever they do.

I suspect time will prove you right, ziggy.

In the meantime, I'm one Californian who doesn't care what pictures were taken. The hypocrisy of sending young women out to parade around in bikinis, then getting upset because a photo was taken of someone's naked back, amazes me.

LOL - well as we all now know, she had bigger breasts to show in the pageant than when she was 17!

Yeah, I doubt anyone who draws fake penises and other adolescent boy-type graffiti on people's pictures would consider themselves classy. But, classy or not, that's his schtick.

I feel like it would be hypocritical for me to trash Perez because I read his site and I am surely part of the problem for the people who think he's scuzzy.

I will say that I have enjoyed him using his very public platform to discuss the issue of gay marriage. For me, that's a way more important topic than what Britney Spears had for lunch and who Lindsay Lohan is dating (though, as I said before, I like to read about all that stuff too!)

Truer words were never spoken. So many layers of hypocrisy in this story - that's one of the things that gives it such legs.

ITA. And even after looking at the pictures I still wouldn't call them semi-nude. I wouldn't have had any problem signing those forms. IMHO "semi-nude" would indicate that her breasts or bottom were actually showing.

That's interesting - I would consider breasts or bottom showing full on nude. I think of semi-nude as private parts without clothing that are just barely covered by strategically placed items - kind of like the swimsuit competition! LOL!

But who knows what the official stance is on what's nude and what's semi-nude - I somehow doubt it's explained in detail to the women when they are given those forms.

I agree. My initial thought was how do we know she was semi nude from behind? Some of those bathing suits offered in magazines like Lovers Lane or Fredericks of Hollywood would certainly lead someone to believe one was semi nude from a certain angle.

Also, no way was she 17 when that pic was taken.

Carrie Prejean -- The Origin of Homophobia

"So how does a beauty queen turn into the poster child against gay marriage? In the case of Miss California Carrie Prejean, the answer may lie in an ugly divorce that may have cemented her views on gay relationships."

"Also in the docs -- a handwritten letter from Carrie's older sister, in which she recounts a weekend stay with her dad: "One time my sister & I went in the hallway of my dad's apartment, & his roommate's door was open all the way & we saw [the roommate] in bed with another man. I don't think it's right for my sister & I to have to live that way.""

"For the record, there are other allegations -- absolutely hideous -- in the divorce and custody papers -- which we have elected not to publish."

That's very interesting and surely speaks to her mindset regarding the subject.

It speaks to something, but I'm not sure what. If there's any truth in the divorce papers, it does seem she comes from a family where "homosexual" was considered a terrible thing to be.

Ms. Prejean's father had a gay roommate? Could have been a learning experience for everyone. Too bad.

(ETA: But to be fair, calling Ms. Prejean a "homophobe" seems overly harsh. Is there some evidence of homophobia I missed? Because I certainly don't think people who oppose gay marriage are necessarily homophobic.)

It's devastating when one's idol plummets from her pedestal.

Well, at the pageant Carrie gave the impression she came from a traditional, strong model family - "this is the family I grew up in" she stated, influencing her views for traditional marriage only.

Now it turns out she must have grown up in a conflicted, unhappy family situation with a non-amiable divorce. I do feel for her if she saw things that she was too young to understand or accept, and I fault the father for allowing that.

She is supposed to represent traditional "opposite" marriage, when she came from a really bad one? What experience has she had, unmarried herself?

She is getting more disingenuous all the time - fake 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, racy photos at age 17, lied about them, disfunctional family situation.

She has no business trying to represent an ideal moral, "Christian" code or way of life. IMO
