Here is the link where I think there was two incidents
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,321188,00.html
it would not say witness

Investigators are calling her disappearance suspicious, saying her mother reported that Lauterbach was going to testify about an incident she witnessed on base
That was just an early report and they didn't want the nature of that "incident" out yet, imo. She witnessed it alright! She was the victim! The date on that article was Jan. 9th. We didn't learn of the rape charge until later...the next day or so.

I thought that she was idenified by an employee of the bus station who stated she purchased the ticket and was alone. How could he have forced her to purchase the ticket if she was alone? This is the part of the case that bothers me. I wish we had more information about the ticket and its purchase.

I was thinking she went to the counter alone. With him standing in the back ground somewhere. Which would lead the employee to think she was alone. How else would she leave the bus station unless he drove her away.

awwww, poor little guy. that just breaks my heart...may he r.i.p.

A boy, she was having a boy....even more reason for wife to be upset, imo
I just can't get it out of my head that she is somehow involved!

Also, they reported on FOX news while the server was busy, that neighbirs are stunned that they didn't know this was taking place. They said the 🤬🤬🤬 and wife acted like normal. They saw them sitting on their front porch and...get this....they even had a backyard bar-b-que with friends over! :behindbar :furious: all while Maria and her baby lie underground just a few feet away. Sick, sick, sick! I hope they catch him, but it's not looking good.......

This is sick. Surely the wife did not know. With this type of info I would think that LE would not have state that she was not a suspect on national news unless they have other info to verify her wereabout at the time of the murder. Boy he is a piece of work. Calm, cool and collect sipping drinks in the back yard with buddies while she layed buried in the ground. I still think there is a piece of this puzzle missing and it will involve someone helping after the fact.

I am wondering how he could have that much control over her in a public place. Do you think he might have another pregant girlfriend that has helped in this crime. I still think we are missing a very important part of this puzzle

It goes back to what possible reason did Maria have for purchasing a ticket to El Paso, TX when her baby was almost due? Makes no sense really. Even if the person at the bus station swore it was her...I believe it was him covering up the fact she was dead and he had to make it seem she was running away. I just don't think it was her that bought the ticket.

Me too!! This is the thing that baffles me the most. Why in her condition would she want to travel on a bus. I mean I am almost 5 months preggo and no way in hell would I be traveling that far, on a bus.

Believe it or not Indy the Army is the same way..it's sad really. I have got into it with my husband a few times over comments he has made. I have also heard from a few diff. male soldiers how when a female soldier gets killed in Iraq ''she shouldnt of been there in the first place''...but when one of their brothers get killed oh boy they seek some serious revenge, get tattos to pay tribute etc etc...

Fran I 100 % agree with your post!! Dont bash me here but after all it is a mans world in the marines.

I do not think it was her but it was a female according to the bus station employee and she appeared to be pregnant. This was one of the reason they gave for not looking for her sooner. That they verified with the bus station that it was her that made the purchase. So, if it was a pregnant felmale that made the purchase and it was not her then who???? Is there another women in the picture that we are not aware of. I wonder if they have any other females that have gone AWOL since this started

Maybe not HIS girlfriend, but the wife of one of his buddies?! I agree...we are missing an important part of this puzzle. The pieces aren't falling into place as they should be.

You are so right!

I have a friend who was in the Army, stationed in Germany and was raped by another soldier. She reported it and her life was a living hell. She said it was awful especially because she was so far from home. She stuck it out because she's got grit like that but they found a way to get rid of her when she didn't cave to their pressure. They eventually medically discharged her.

I think it could have been any female, who put a pillow under their shirt, to make themselves look pregnant. I do not think it was her.

Could she of used her health benefits any where or only at a base hospital?

But it was a female. Who could it have been. I do not think it was the wife.
I think we are going to find that he was involved with another or other women
and they need to check and make sure he does not have someone helping him run.

I think they already KNOW he has someone helping him run. The Sheriff flat refused to answer that question.

Good question! I believe she would have to be at a military hospital unless it was an emergency situation...but I am not positive.

Do you think LE thinks it is his family our someone involved in the crime?

Looking for those articles earlier, I ran across where they were looking for another female. It was in the first few pages of the first thread, I think. I never heard another mention of it tho. Hmmmm...could be the missing link.

I agree, I think you have medical insurance that will cover visits outside of the base if you are not able to go to the base for coverage. It also covers retired personel that do not live near a base.
