The ME has results of autopsy - Sheriff will not elaborate or speak to any of it - says that's for Med Examiner to answer. No further info on suspect's whereabouts.

He saw and his wife outside talking the eve before "he fled". Neighbor said his wife "saw taking the dogs out at 6 am. No way he left at 4 am."

McDraw and Suzi Q, to answer your question about Hispanic names, in all Latin American countries, people use their last name and their mother's maiden name. So people have two last names. I have used my mother's maiden name since we moved down to CR 30 years ago. So first is my dad's last name, and then my mother's last name. So everyone here has 3 names. Some pople use a middle name, so they would actually have 4, for example, Juan Pablo Rodriguez fernandez. It sounds a little complicated, but I hope I explained it properly.

If Laurean didnt have anyrecord or alias, it might be his mothers maiden name so that it seems like an alias.

The sheriff himself wasn't involved that early. The Onslow County Sheriff's office isn't Mayberry sized, with just a couple of employees -- more like a hundred employees. One of the investigators did drop the ball early on, but not the sheriff.

I don't think people understand that the Onslow County Sheriff's Department had no idea about the rape or the cell phone being found near the main gate. The only thing the Sheriff knew was that she was missing and that she was supposedly a liar and bi polar. They knew nothing of the rape or that this girl was endangered. Marines go UA all the time. Especially during the holidays. But the alarm wasn't rang because the military either thought there was no problem or they were covering their for not doing anything about the rape. They(the marines) we crossing their fingers hoping that she just took off.

Also, this is evidenced by the fact that the Sheriff honestly thought this was a case of a girl with stress in her life just taking off. I believe he honestly a little blind sided by this whole thing. He is not, under any circumstances going to disparage the marine corp. He has taken several hits in the press and he still will not tell the whole story.

You are correct, in most countries they do use their maiden names after their married last name. In some countries (like the Dominican Republic, for example, they might keep their maiden name and/or switch between maiden name and husband's last name...I never understood that last part).

I actually got inspired to post here b/c of GMH case-

I grew up in T'Hassee (have a friend that knew Cheryl Dunlop)
Lived down the street from GMH
Now live in NC in same town where the Bryant's lived
Have an Irish Setter (rescue) same age as 'Dandy' and am creeped out by all of that-esp being a SWF that would have been cordial to that creep to "be nice"!

This poor girl's death is so sad.

I know lotsa folks think the sheriff is Barney Fife, but I admire his cajones while standing up to NG (who, by the way, I also went to Mercer with!)
