Hey all ... :)

I think a number of posters here may be misconstruing (or misunderstanding) the quote attributed to Christina's father, Bruce Shifflet.

The quote:

"Laurean's father-in-law says his daughter, Christina, spoke with him before he fled."

I do not think that Christina's father, meant that "he" (Shifflet) spoke with Christina before Cesar fled. Read the quote again.

The way I am reading this quote - he was saying that Christina spoke with "him" (her husband) before he fled. Big difference.

Rum Tum

Rum Tum, I read it correctly that Christina's father was stating that SHE spoke to Laurean before he fled and asked that he turn himself in ...

My point is why didn't she go to the police right away?
Why did she wait until sometime AFTER she found the letter?

Littledeer,
The bottom of Christinas Hair looks to be blonde, so she's died her hair before and she might have again. Do you know what color Christina's hair is right now? I don't see that much of a difference weight wise. How long ago was that pic taken? Remember, we have not see a pic of a pregnant Maria, she probaby gained weight. Look at the similar tilt of the heads in the pics. When I was doing a pic comparison I'm thinking about what the clerk at the bus station might have been seeing. In other words, it's not like Christina is a 300 pound black woman that could be ruled as purchasing the bus ticket...JMO.

SuziQ That is not the most recent of Maria. Somewhere on the web there is a picture of her in her Marine uniform. Her hair is way shorter in that one.

We know that Maria was dead sometime on the 15th. 🤬🤬🤬 had her ID and her DL and obviously her ATM card and her PIN and maybe her credit cards as well. How hard would it have been for Christina to put on some bulky clothes and a pillow under her shirt and hide most of her hair under a hat and go into the bus station with Maria's ID and buy a ticket to El Paso?? Clerks are busy and not trained to observe and it was almost a MONTH before the clerk was asked to ID the purchaser of the ticket - after Maria's face had been posted everywhere. I am sure the clerk THINKS it was Maria - her ID SAID IT WAS Maria, after all. I think it MUST have been Christina with Maria's ID. It sounds like 🤬🤬🤬 or Christina called the CC company or Western Union and wired money from Maria's credit card to "Maria" and somebody HAD to pick that money up at Western Union with Maria's ID --- Christina again impersonating Maria?

It isn't hard to "be" someone else when you have access to their apartment, their car and their computer, their clothes, their ID and are of a similar height. Everything else can be "faked" long enough to fool a busy clerk - especially since DL and ID photos are universally AWFUL and outdated.

My Opinion
I believe this is exactly what will come out eventually as what
took place.
Some things just have to make "sense" and this makes sense.

The sheriffs office could not have prevented her death
but they sure could have prevented 🤬🤬🤬 from getting away.
The first time Maria was reported missing 🤬🤬🤬 should have
been on 24 hour survaliance (sp?)
and the Military should have been watching him too.
This guy should have never gotten out of the driveway
IMO

ETA: if I am missing something, please let me know. There has
been so much to read I could have missed how this would not
have been possible.

Unfortunate - but the Sheriff's Dept was NOT given 🤬🤬🤬's name as a POI until right before he split. They didn't KNOW 🤬🤬🤬 existed because the military did not give them the info about the "incident" or 🤬🤬🤬's involvement in the "incident" until they were FORCED to - AFTER the Holidays.

The MILITARY could have put 🤬🤬🤬 under watch, but they did not - because 🤬🤬🤬 and Maria were "friendly". I would LOVE TO KNOW where they got the idea that Maria and her rapist/baby-daddy were "friendly" since she had gotten not ONE but THREE restraining orders against him.

Again, the hands of the Sheriff's Dept were tied BY THE CO and the Military. The way they treated Maria's disappearance was borderline CRIMINAL OBSTRUCTION, IMO.

I did say that we don't have a current pic, of a pregnant Maria or Christina.

Lol, let me reword that. We need a more current pic of both Maria and Christina. Sorry!

This is exactly what I've been thinking all along! :) Another thing too, is she could've been wearing Maria's uniform (the camo shirt with her name on it) and hat.

I just find it crazy that Laurean was confident enough to bring Maria into his HOME and murder her. Would ya'll not notice if your husband started painting and gardening? Wouldn't you notice a strange car in your driveway?

I just feel that Christina knew all along what happened and helped her husband.

That is one of the mysteries here. Of all the places to kill her and dispose of her body, it's at his house and his back yard. I really would like to know if Maria, for some reason unknown to us, just showed up there and an argument ensued which led to her death? He had a lot of motive to want her dead, but it just seems odd it would be done in his house.

B.I.N.G.O & Bingo was his name O...

He will be more shocked if he finds his daughter isn't the person he thinks she is...if she has been lying about her involvement.

Do people really do gardening in dec there? From up north here so I have no clue...
Can you garden year round there?
Potatoes and other underground plants are planted, pruning are done in March,April up here.
OTT, my dad did all the gardening in my family when I grew up. Mom didn't and wouldn't touch anything outside. wied.

That struck me as odd as well. And then to have a BBQ practically on top of her grave. But then I remember this is the same person(s)that kept Maria's car in their driveway and drove it around even. That's what I can't figure out.

From the photos I've seen the back yard seemed kind of barren.

COD, blunt force trauma to the head!
So did Maria commit suicide by hitting herself over the head? Or banging her head into the wall? Or are we supposed to believe she slit her own throat and THEN hit her head so hard it crushed her skull?

🤬🤬🤬 killed her by hitting her on the head hard and more than once - starting in the house and them maybe Maria ran for a short distance to the garage - and 🤬🤬🤬 is still hitting her - spreading blood on the wall and ceiling in the process. Maria didn't slit her throat and 🤬🤬🤬 didn't slit it either. He just made that up because Maria's blood was everywhere and he didn't expect THAT (too much CSI maybe?). He was probably in a rage and when he looked around after she was dead he was like "holy cr*p, there's blood everywhere" - how do I explain THAT and still look innocent??

Ugh, I really pray she was gone fast.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't figure it out! There's woods nearby and so many other places.

golfmom,
Excellent questions that I have to admit made me laugh, because there is no way my husband would start painting and gardening on his own. No way he'd begin that without me bugging him about it. :)

You raised a very good point.
I have a hard time believing Christina didn't know what was going on.

What made Maria go to the 🤬🤬🤬 house????

There were quite a few warm days in December, even here in Ohio. Guess, the planting of flowers would in his mind, explain the change in sod from digging her grave if anyone asked about it. He probably knew he was living next door to a "nosy" neighbor.

Which really doesn't make any sense that he would bring Maria's car home and park it in his driveway!! Why didn't this neighbor find that odd and question either him, her husband or even Christina about that??

Has it been mentioned how far away they lived from base? How about Maria??

I bet there will be other women coming forward to say they had affairs with Laurean..he has the slimy cheater look about him. Even by the blurred out picture it looks to me that Christina is a big ol' girl she was probably no match for a very very pregnant Maria. Take her size and her jealousy of Maria & she was Christina's biggest threat. This is all just my opinion of course...

  • #179
I'm going to say something that is probaby gonna make a few mad but here goes anyway... I think Maria went over his house willingly and I think she went because 🤬🤬🤬 asked her to come over..I think he lured her over there under the false assumption that he wanted to be a part of his baby's life & maybe even a part of hers.

One or both of them are control freaks - and as long as you keep everything near - you are "in control"...and you know when the "jig is up" so to speak. And they wanted everyone to believe Maria took off to El PAso - and was NOT dead. They didn't WANT her body found by searchers - and it wouldn't be if it was IN THEIR YARD. So long as everyone thought Maria was "dramatic", "exaggerated", was "unstable" and made stuff up they could keep feeding that lie and prevent any attention from being focused on them - and their "secret". Their needing to be in control and keep everything close to them was their fatal mistake -- thank goodness!

And anyone here wonder how Christina could STAY in that house with her CHILD for one minute??? Blood everywhere, dead burned body under the firepit, dead woman's car in driveway - I would have had so many nightmares I would have been crazy inside a few days! Sorry, but just going on for a MONTH like it's a nice opportunity to clean, landscape and redecorate ISN'T NORMAL!
