Missing 8 mth pregnant Marine Maria Frances Lauterbach- NC #7

You know what really worries me, there's an article in a paper local to me that after 20 years a suspect in a murder case that fled to Mexico was just apprehended recently.

I looked up 103 Meadow Trail Jax NC on Google earth and you can see how many woods there are very nearby. I still don't understand how they could have buried her on their property unless they were planning on seeling the house or they preferred to keep her close so they could still have control pf the situation. Or as you said, the burial site was a trophy for him.

I think they buried her in their yard because, like you said, they thought they could have control over the situation. Lauterbach's body didn't completely burn to nothing the first time, so maybe they thought if they had enought fires in the fire pit it would eventually go away. I don't think it ever occurred to Laurean (or both Laureans, as I believe) that Lauterbach wouldn't just be assumed forever to be UA. He took off pretty quickly when the civilian and military authorities finally got together and exchanged information.

Now, if the body was kept there as a trophy and he amused himself by having a bonfire over over it with his friends there . . . well, I can't hate him any more than I already do, but if I could, I would.:furious:

I think that is a valid worry. There are so many little villages with no communications (tv, radio) that unlike here where people are looking for him, there he will just blend in. If he is in mexico, I don't think they can depend on tips, I think he will have to be hunted down....

Does anyone here honestly think a military doctor would fudge a pregnancy due date to protect an accused rapist?? I think the military bashing is getting out of hand. As a service member's wife, I'm insulted and astonished at the way so many are assuming that everybody on that base is some kind of . I've lived in the civilian world and the military world, and I can testify that the military community, on the whole, is WAY more honest, friendly, law-abiding, and justice-loving and family oriented than the civilian community. And I also know, as the wife of a member of military LE, that, far from protecting criminal service members, the military is likely to toss them into pretrial confinement if they even look crosseyed at anyone.

Go read the memorials pages I just posted for Maria, read what the service men and women have to say, very interesting. My daddy is retired military, I have an awesome love, honor and respect for our armed forces. Human beings are enlisted, just like in society. Their not exempt from evil.

Storm, I know exactly when my little boy was conceived, yep. July 21, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. and what position too. He was born april 21 1998.

Illegals cross over all the time. Don't think it would of been a problem for him.

before the test will show positive?
In 1978, I had a test and it was negative..I had another test a week later and it was positive (as I knew it would be)..
I was pregnant the first test but it did not show positive yet.

i understand exactly what you're saying Storm, but Maria was not pregnant on May 11th per a pregnancy test....

Laurean was born in Mexico and still as allot of family living in Mexico. I think it will be hard to find him and he will more than likely have assitants from family. I think that every move he made was planned out well in advance.
He had plenty of time after the murder to figure out what he would do if he was ever caught. He had time to stash money, plan an escape route, seek the aid of family. It could very well be years before he is caught.

That has a bit more information about the possibility of Laurean being in Mexico. The Houston-addressed letters were sent to his wife.

If true I had a feeling he might have come through here at some point. Wonder what date the postmark was?

Lauterbach goes to a doctor feeling sick. A pregnancy test was performed, which came back positive. Doctors estimate the date of conception to be May 14.


According to timeline on AMW she found out she was pregnant in June and that the estimated conception date was may 14th. This would make her due date in Febuary. However, mother had stated that the baby was due on 01/15/2007. I think that AMW's info came from military. I wonder who is right her mother or the military

As far as I know, the only way to “estimate the conception date,” without relying on the specific history given by the patient, is to perform an ultrasound (or maybe even a CT scan).


Without one of those, it sounds like just more CYA by the USMC -- IMO.

So, if we have Christina on active duty in one place and Maria and on duty in another place, then we have the "unit" run by AND the unit Christina is in ALL probably ganging up to make Maria's life hell. I wonder if there was ANYONE or ANYPLACE on that base safe for Maria? No WONDER Maria was hesitant to move ahead on the assault charges - she was being pressured from her co-workers and it appears she was either ignored or hassled by everyone around her - above, below and equal.

Poor Maria - I am sure she would have done just about anything, including going alone to meet - if she thought it would make her life (and more importantly her baby's life and future) even a little more secure, nicer, easier and happier. Her mother was hassling her and upsetting her and she must been sick and tired and lonely and desperate and scared. Facing birth and motherhood ALL ALONE with no support or even a kind or sympathetic word from anyone - even her own family was disapproving. One kind, encouraging, word from would have sent her running to him in a heartbeat, no questions asked. In her desperation, she was willing to trust him - I am sure she had no idea that she was running headlong toward death - she was so vulnerable and (or Christina or both) saw that weakness as an opportunity to end all their problems forever. No baby, no charges, no problems - so neat and nice, right before Christmas too.

And has anyone wondered HOW got Maria's ATM PIN? Did offer to deposit some money for her...and to keep it a secret (from his wife maybe?) say he needed her PIN so he could do it at the ATM? Or did he go WITH her and deposit some money so he could get her PIN before he killed her? I mean he surely would have wanted to get any money HE gave her or spent buying the bus ticket back - thus the withdrawals and the Western Union wires after we know she was dead.

You know what's sick - I think Maria paid for the paint, the landscaping and the party to cover up the evidence of her murder. Heres what I think was probably their twisted thought process...
the 's felt justified the whole way thru - since Maria caused all their added trouble, expense and work she not only had to die (with that pesky baby) but she OWED THEM $$$. MAria caused it ALL, it was all her fault - she set out to entice and tease until she forced him to succumb to her feminine wiles and have sex with her (and she refused to allow him to use a condom too), and then of course she got pregnant (on purpose, to trap into paying her support and medical for 18 years) so of COURSE she WOULD NOT have an abortion and when rejected her she ran off and filed false charges against him. Well what were they to do - she was EVIL, ruining their perfect lives and she would NOT go away no matter what they did to make her leave so FINALLY she made them kill her and the baby. The didn't want to, they had to - to protect themselves, you see.

Of COURSE Maria, was even MORE trouble DEAD - she WOULD not die neatly - she had to make it harder for them and die a messy death - practically destroys their HOUSE and her body didn't burn right either and it ruins their daughter's play area. It's only RIGHT that she should pay for their troubles and legal expenses and of course for them to clean up and cover up and buy themselves and their daughter extra nice gifts to make up for all the inconvenience and sacrifice - it being their holidays and all. Maybe they even thought about trying to keep or sell her car and her stuff--until the Sheriff started calling asking questions. BLAST THAT WITCH Maria was dead, and STILL she was with them every day, causing nore trouble for THEM from her grave. The ungrateful beootch - she was haunting them from the grave they so graciously provided for her in the backyard!

And I do not think for a minute Maria bought that bus ticket. The fact that whoever DID buy it made such a deal about asking about parking the car there and made sure to draw attention to herself tells me it wasn't Maria. It was ALL a set up to provide a cover-up for Maria being missing and deflect suspicion from . And if the ticket was bought before Maria died then Christina is part of the murder from the planning stage - and it was premeditated.

AND I think Christina is still really angry , not at , but at Maria. I get the buried anger vibe all over the events since Jan 11th. I get the idea that Christina truly believes Maria is ruining her life - in Christina's mind it's not her own actions or those of that are to blame for what's happening, but MARIA. It's ALL, everything that has happened, all MARIA's fault. She can be so calm and so self-absorbed because this was all out of her control - "Maria made them do it" and she is continuing to destroy their lives from the grave.

And ya know what - that is almost the same vibe I got from the Marine presser today. They did everything but stand there and whine like a bunch of babies that their troubles are all because of Maria. Geez, she is wasting MORE precious Marine time and energy and money and she ruined a STELLAR Marine in the process. So much trouble for a merely "steady" Female Marine who was having a BABY - less work, more expense - more troubles for them.

Osama is wasting his time with traditional terrorists - all it takes to destroy a whole base and bring it to it's knees is a 20 year old pregnant Lance Corporal from Ohio. It's pretty sad that we are depending on these people to defend us when they can't even find their own azzes with an operations manual, a Colonel in charge and several squadrons of trained soldiers and support staff using both hands and a spotlight.

The Sheriff and Maria's Mother BOTH say the baby was due Jan 8th. The Sheriff has the autopsy and Aside from Maria - who would know BEST when the baby was really due? I am thinking her MOTHER! Her Mother even knew that was the father and the baby was the result of a rape or assault. The MC is - as it is on several OTHER things - inaccurate on the dates of conception and the due date. The info may not be PURPOSEFULLY inaccurate, but I do believe the info the MC presented is inaccurate information.

Maybe Maria did NOT give accurate dates of conception to her Dr ON PURPOSE - to avoid the whole assault/rape question. Maybe Maria DID NOT want to identify the father at that time or have the records show the baby was the product of a rape ??? Therefore she gave the "wrong dates". I certainly would not want MY BABY to have that stigma on his records if I could help it.
There could be a lot of reasons why the MC medical file has the dates it does - not only that they are liars. I think MAria did NOT want Gabriel to be the "rape baby" so she changed up her dates and made Gabriel an happy but wanted "accident" just a forgotten trip to the drugstore with a man she had a one night stand with.

I would think that at a time like this, you would want your child around you, and you would be with relatives too..Or at least I would...IF she should be in some type of custody - Would they let her speak at pressers? Could military be holding her in some type of custody for whatever reason?

Ok sorry one more question/thought - Maria will be entitled to a full honor funeral correct? Not sure if her family would want that - BUT that's not something the USMC can take away from her right?

I think she tried very hard to get out of this nightmare. Unfortunately the military wanted an answer and demanded a dna test for when the baby was born. So we have the rape case stalling for months. Then suddenly base investigators meet with Maria two weeks before she disappears. At that time she recants her rape accusation and the DNA test is ordered. What was suddenly important about the case at the beginning of December? It was ignored up until that point.

I've always wondered if Cesar raped anyone else at the base.
