Missing person Lancaster/Palmdale Ca 90-93

Back, sometime between 1990 and 1993, a very dear friend of mine, worked the graveyard shift at a convenience store in the Lancaster/Palmdale area. It was during this time that he met a young lady called Sunny. She would come in some nights and keep him company. They spent hours just talking. Then, he says, she just disappeared. He had been told that she had actually “disappeared”, as in kidnapped. He never heard if she’d been found or anything.

That was 30 years ago. He still wonders what happened. I’m trying to help him find out.

We don’t have a lot to go on. I’ve searched different data bases for missing persons and spoken with several people within the sheriffs department, to no avail. So, I’m hopeful that someone locally might know something about this young lady.

As I mentioned, we don’t have a whole lot to go on but I will list what little we do have below. Please check it out and maybe something will ring a bell for you.


She went by Sunny. Not sure if that’s her real name or a nickname. She was about 17 years old. She stood about 5’4’ and weight approximately 110 pounds, with dirty blond shoulder length hair. She enjoyed working on muscle cars. He says she went missing from 20th east and Sierra Highway but her dad lived in Palmdale.

Hi there-

So I am familiar with that area. It is highly likely that this young girl was engaged in prostitution (no judgments, just noting that the area she went missing from is known (and was then) as the place to go to get drugs and prostitutes.

If this is the case, she may not have been reported missing, or she may have moved out of the area. It is common for women to work in "circuits" along the west coast, moving between San Diego and Seattle (and up into Canada).

I will do some more checking!

I did some preliminary checking. She was not reported as a missing person between 1988 - 1995 in California, and there aren't any unidentified bodies matching the description either.

There was a report of a 14 year old girl that was murdered, but there is no obituary and no other information other than an article in the LA Times.

I have reached out to some "old timers" that I know to try to get an idea of what was happening on the street at that time. I have also reached out to some people I know who can do some archival research.

I don't know if I will get anything concrete (I expect I won't) but I will post when I hear more.

Ok. There isn't any specific information I can find on this without going to archives personally. There is an Jane Doe that was found in Palmdale in 1990.
