This MP case profile was published on NamUs in 2022: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
DOB: 27 Mar 1944. He was born as Darel Brent Sievers. He has a number of siblings; both of his parents are deceased.
I've been doing some digging since it is such a mysterious case. "MP was traveling through Europe and Africa in 1971. Last contact was a written letter to his family advising he was sailing on a 23' foot boat named the "Hobo" from Sal Island in the Cape Verde Islands on 2/12/72 with boat owner and family. They planned to sail to Barbados Island then on to Miami FL via the Bahamas. MP was never seen from again. The boat owner returned to the US and told police he dropped the MP off at Port Verde in Africa."
There was an article published May 22, 1972 in a variety of newspapers about the missing vessel. The picture is from the MP's senior year at St. Bernard High School in Playa Del Ray in 1963. I cannot find any information about the boat returning, nor anything on the family on the boat.
