JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has announced he will extend the statewide stay-at-home order through Sunday, May 3.

The order was set to expire on Friday, April 24. Parson first announced the order on April 3, and it took effect on April 6.

There are now 5,111 positive cases of coronavirus in Missouri, including 152 deaths.

In order to reopen Missouri and stem coronavirus cases, Parson said state officials plan to implement the Show Me Strong Recovery Plan, which has four parts:
  1. To rapidly expand testing capacity
  2. To expand the state’s reserves of personal protective equipment
  3. To continue to monitor and expand hospital and health care systems capacity
  4. To improve Missouri’s ability to predict potential outbreaks through state data

EXCLUSIVE: Missouri became the first state to file a lawsuit against China on Tuesday, accusing the country of being responsible for the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and seeking damages to make up for "the enormous loss of life, human suffering, and economic turmoil" resulting from the disease.

The suit in the Eastern District of Missouri follows at least seven federal class-action suits that have been filed by private groups, with one filed in Florida saying that China knew "COVID-19 was dangerous and capable of causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest."

SBM
Officials told Fox News that outside of the health consequences of the coronavirus -- Missouri has confirmed 5,963 cases of the virus and 215 deaths as of Tuesday morning -- the economic shutdown the state imposed to reduce the spread of the disease has cost Missouri about $44 billion, according to one estimate.

"In Missouri, the impact of the virus is very real - thousands have been infected and many have died, families have been separated from dying loved ones, small businesses are shuttering their doors, and those living paycheck to paycheck are struggling to put food on their table," Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement.

Cases in Missouri: 6,625

Total Deaths: 262

Patients tested in Missouri (by all labs): approximately 64,903
(not yet updated for 4/24/20)

Important Update: Due to a technical difficulty identified and corrected yesterday, results from one commercial lab performing tests for Missourians were not submitted from April 16-22. So many of the cases identified as “new” today were actually tested and diagnosed during those dates, so today’s increase in totals is not due to a spike in new cases being identified within the past 24 to 48 hours.

Additionally, there was a delay in the reporting of a number of deaths from a jurisdiction into the Missouri tracking system. So, in addition to the past 24 hours, the increase today covers some deaths that occurred from April 12-22.

COVID-19 Outbreak | Health & Senior Services

Increase since yesterday:
Cases 304
Deaths 44
Patients Tested - 5,637

Remember the increase in the numbers from yesterday is due to a lab not reporting it numbers from April 16-22. So they will be very inflated. Same with the number of deaths. It is all stated in Red up above.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — On Monday, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson released the first phase of his “Show Me Strong Recovery Plan,” which he says will be a “turn of a dial not a flip of a switch.”

The governor’s plan to gradually reopen Missouri will begin May 4, the day after his statewide stay-at-home order ends. This first phase will continue through the end of May.

However, it’s important to note that local stay-at-home orders supersede the state reopening if they are stricter. Therefore, Kansas City and Jackson County’s orders will continue through May 15.

Similar to President Donald Trump’s guidelines, Parson’s plan for Missouri is based on four pillars:
  1. Expand testing capacity and volume in the state
  2. Expand reserves of PPE by opening public and private supply chains
  3. Continue to monitor and, if necessary, expand hospital and health care system capacity, including isolation and alternate care facilities for those that cannot self-quarantine at home
  4. Improve ability to predict potential outbreaks using Missouri’s public health data
