Anyone remember this case? Happened in TX, killed her 2 'best' friends.......it happens.

Springfield News-Leader for July 7, 1994 reports that in addition to
the $750 cash Sherrill had $780 worth of uncashed check from her salon
customers in her purse. She obviously wasn't living hand to mouth to
make ends meet. I would think that she would want to deposit or cash
these as soon as possible.

Actually there aren't that many theories.

There is the son, the vandals, the GJ3, Robert Cox, corrupt cops and an unknown stalker. From sources I regard as highly reliable the GJ3 did not do this. Others disagree.

You could spend the rest of your life reading all of these posts and many will pique your interest, as I have been, but they could all be wrong. It merely comes down to elimination of suspects and scenarios. The crime took place between 2:45 AM and 6 PM. The latest police statement said the "kidnapper" (singular) was unaccounted for between the hours of 9 PM to 6 AM. It went on to say that his family or acquaintances might not suspect he could be involved.

We can eliminate the space aliens as suggested by the Assistant Police Chief. We can eliminate the psychics, the garage floor, and other nutjobs who have come out of the woodwork.

The vandals have what appears to be ironclad alibis. But it ain't necessarily so. The alibi rested on the word of one of their sisters who allegedly viewed them sleeping in her apartment. The one who should be looked at obviously is Robert Cox. He is the only one I know of who concocted a false alibi to be debunked during grand jury proceedings. And he is a known violent offender who was once convicted of murder and sentenced to death in Florida.

I would love to say that so and so is not a suspect. I can give my opinion but I haven't seen the police file. What I can say is that I have talked or communicated with many people whose identities are known and no one can or will tell me who or what went down. The one I have the most confidence is the one who said he went to the perp (singular) home and place of employment and viewed him personally along with his companion. He went into great detail and what he said was that the perp (kidnapper) is NOT the same person or persons who murdered the women.

I also feel the same way... I have watched this case almost from the time it happened, as I went to college in Missouri. This is my opinion, but Missouri Mule, on every forum that I have seen you post, you manage to be articulate and postulate your points well, however, when faced with any type of scrutiny, you deflect, ignore and then miraculously change your theory... I am not new to Websleuths, true crime, or individuals inserting themselves into cases to deflect from their own guilt or just for the attention. With all due respect , this is Websleuths , respect that ... We ask and answer questions respectfully, without hi jacking a thread or deflection to “tantalize” new readers.

I’m curious to know if anyone’s theory has changed because of something they read here. Mine hasn’t. I think the last people to see Stacy and Suzy haven’t disclosed what they know out of fear or they’re involved. I’m not 100% but nothing else feels right.

I posted a lengthy and detailed discussion about the dog on another site. For reasons unknown, the post was pulled. The fact is that photos of the back door clearly showed that only a small dog could exit that door leading a reasonable person to believe that it was in the bathroom. However, Yorkies are infamous for their barking and self destructive ways. I had one and gave it back to the animal adoption agency because of its barking and behavior toward strangers.

Janelle states the dog was loose in the house and jumped up to meet her when she arrived. That is plausible in that she could have seen the dog when Sherrill lived in the apartment before she bought the house. But that is unclear. Maybe she was and maybe she wasn't. We haven't been told.

I just find it more than passing curious that an entire post, with no profanities or attacks on anyone would be pulled by someone in authority because I was discussing a pet dog. Just very odd.

In looking at the photos, it appears that the small doggy door was in a storm type door. That would imply that there was a regular door behind it.

That leads me to the possibility that that door was closed preventing the dog from getting outside the house. If it were a stranger, that dog would have been barking its head off. If, as stated in the profiler's view, entry or some method of getting the women out of the house involved someone well known and trusted. I'm purely speculating that Sherrill had the dog in her arms when she left and it was taken and then tossed back into the house and the door closed unlocked. That would be my surmise.

The only place I have seen that it was said to be in the bathroom was said to the the overseas military "Stars and Stripes." Janelle says when she opened the door the dog immediately jumped into her arms very scared and shaky or words to that effect.

A very reliable source said to me that there was DNA found in the house but it didn't lead anywhere. Most was connected to the women. However, if a person who had visited the house had DNA in the house that would explain why it would be there. Why did the police believe it was a matter of sexual assault? Things are not adding up.

Care to share those photos? We appreciate things like that here on Websleuths, especially from a “verified “ source

I think Sherill was more likely discreet than private. As a popular hairstylist she probably knew everyone’s business-many stylists do-but didn’t gossip, hence her popularity. I wonder if she did hair for any of Suzy’s friends.
As a single mom she likely kept her private life as private as possible. I went all the way around the world to say that to me a private person is usually discreet.

Absolutely! I thought of this angle many years ago. My grandmother was a beautician in a small town, her shoppe was in her home, and many secrets were shared... Sometimes, these things can come back to bite in a big way...

I think we’ll be stunned if and when we find out what happened. I think LE and the public got tunnel vision because Sherrill was an attractive, discreet, independent single mother, and Suzy dated bad boys. Sherrill could’ve gotten too close to a client and/or their business. Suzy might’ve upset the wrong group or people. If LE explored those options they didn’t come up with anything. It bothers me no one seemed to look into the McCalls. It was important to Mrs. McCall for people to know Stacy didn’t usually hang out with Suzy. Yet Stacy told someone at the gym where she worked she was scared for Sherrill. Did Mrs. McCall know as much of Stacy’s business as she thought?
Stacy took medicine for migraines and an antidepressant. Why was a 17 or 18 year old taking antidepressants? Maybe it’s not our business but if Stacy had been the victim of a crime or had emotional issues, it could’ve opened new doors. Antidepressants weren’t nearly as common in 1990.
I’m not pointing fingers but it’s interesting they disappeared when Stacy happened to be spending the night.

I agree esp with 'tunnel vision' and being stunned.....and IF I'm reading a correct piece of info. ....the party night schedule...a couple things hit me as 'hinky' (using K-Mac's word b/c it fits)
Good point on if Mrs. McCall knew everything concerning Stacy's whereabouts 24/7. Just b/c someone calls, does not mean they tell the truth 100% of the time. That's ridiculous esp. with 'smart' teenagers.
