Maybe Sherrill was truly looking for Suzie and 2 friends at the gas station in response to a phone call from Suzie.
I think something happened at the party or one of the parties and because Suzie told her mom she became a liability. I think Suzie was used to lure Sherrill out of the house in some way.

To be fair so did Suzie and she was 17/18 at the time. One was abusive I thought and one was a grave robber so not exactly a good track record when you consider she was a teenager. She also lived with one of them as well which also seems mighty strange considering her age. I’m amazed Sherrill allowed it to happen and then to move in with her alcoholic brother so out of frying pan into the fire. Suzie doesn’t seem like the typical teenager to me.

ETA - I am not blaming Suzie in any shape or form just wondering if she did cross paths with some undesirable men along her travels!!
It sounds like Suzie grew up fast and had been through a lot.

It's also possible that one of the killers was also at the parties that night and knew of her plans to return home. I'm still of the opinion that Suzie possibly called her mom and told her of their plans to come home.
Seems like a stretch.

That means they followed to Joy's. Then to Janelle's. And then waited around then followed them back to Delmar?

Too much forcing to make that one fit, IMO.

I'm not sure the decision to return home to sleep was made at the time witnesses reported. Could have been earlier. I'm keeping an open mind about the timeline of the girls that night.

I think it's possible Dusty, Mike C. and Janelle and Mike H. all have a suspicion on who might have done this. Or at least one of them do. I often wonder about the SPD's 2012 statement about "old girlfriend" being the target witness.

I agree with part 2. Ron Worsham from the 10 year anniversary NL article. Attached it. I do not think a transient did this.

The answer is in the Levitt background.

I can't believe LE was still looking into Sherrill's background 10 yrs after the disappearances. I'm sure they found out all they could within the first month or so.

On another topic, I noticed there's no thread here for Suspect Garrison. Anyone want to start one? Should I?

  • #246
They didn't know where they were staying until Janelle found out there weren't enough sleeping spots.

So the perps waited around while they made this decision?

I would say POI over suspect.

I doubt he did this since he was only out of prison 3 weeks before the crime.

Inconsistent statements are why nothing makes sense.

Which is why the mirror needs to be turned back on SPD...

Why so many red herrings?

Or something happened at Janelle's or a party that made them want to leave. There were out of town guests.

I’m not sure I believe anyone gave SPD much to work with.

I read they left because Janelle’s house was too crowded AND they didn’t want to sleep on a pallet. It can’t be both. That’s what makes this frustrating!!

For those who follow this theory, how would the victims have any connection to LE in their lives and activities? I can't find anything in their victim profiles to indicate that.

Yes, the only known crime scene was severely compromised.

Just wondering if anything showed up on or in their cars? Were they examined for fingerprints, DNA, contents, etc.?

I’ve never heard if they got anything from
the cars which makes me wonder if that’s why SPD seems so sure they made it back to Delmar.

I just want to know why so many inconsistencies.

People say “they didn’t have much to go on” and that’s bull. They had a crime scene and dozens of witnesses and their best leads are spray painted vans, searching for buzzards, and psychic tips?

No department in the country operates like this.

Barney Fife himself can find out who entered that house in a two month window and the bodies of three linked people in 26 years.

SPD statement inconsistencies alone should be setting off alarms!

I’d like to know whose idea it was to hypnotize the woman who said she saw Suzie driving the van.

You might be surprised at that. Spend some time here going through cold and active cases and you'll sometimes wonder what's up with some PDs. That said, I think the Springfield PD did as much as they could to gather evidence and tips. I'm just not sure they focused on the right theories in the beginning. Some of them probably agree.

But if someone wants to build a theory about LE involvement or cover up, it helps to start with some connection to the victims and a reason for doing so.

That’s what Websleuths is for. Finding who all was in Sherrill and Suzie’s life + visited 1717 in those two months.

What is BBM

Also I feel people should take your same advice with their own theories. Too many rumor BS flying around. Janis McCall herself told people to only base their investigation in facts.

Saying SPD “did all they could” is hard to swallow from a department that succeeded only in getting in the way.
