The crowd in the courtroom has definitely shrunk as potential jurors are dismissed for various exemptions.

Judge Dennis is addressing the potential jurors again. He said he loves some of the comments that are made during the jury selection process, such as those who said they were happily married and the one who said he was happily divorced.

The next part is the fun part b/c they ask specific questions regarding the parameters of this case. Our case asked if we worked in insurance, car repair, had ever been in a fender bender, known or sat on a jury where someone sued someone else, if we knew either party in the case etc. This will be interesting!

Any speculation as to why no TM in the court room? Is it because SM's attorney asked her to stay away? I can't believe she's not close by.

One reason for TM not to be in the courtroom might be because she is a witness. JMO

Judge Dennis just told the potential jurors that Sidney Moorer is accused of unlawfully kidnapping Heather Elvis. He asked everyone who had heard about the allegations to stand. The vast majority of the remaining potential jurors stood.

A man was excused after saying he considers Terry Elvis, the father of Heather Elvis, a friend.

The case-specific qualifications have begun. Judge Dennis just read a long list of names and several of the potential jurors stood, indicating they knew some of the individuals. The judge is asking if the potential jurors could still fairly consider any testimony given by the people they know

I've missed that that was said, but in many states, it is a legislative call that is on the books for sentencing guidelines/parameters and the judge does it. Only for death penalty cases does a jury have to say what the sentencing is (per Supreme Court ruling) :moo:
