Says he first met HE in high school but Dec 17th (2014) was their first date. They were not in the same grade, didn't know her well in high school. Says they followed each other on Social Media and they got back in touch after high school. Says they only talked 3-4 days before their date on Dec 17th. Date was SS idea. It was "romantic" per SS.

SS picked HE up at her apartment at 7:00 pm, didn't go into her apartment. He drove a 1998 Ford Ranger, light blue/gray, 2 door, no toolbox on the back. Much smaller than a Ford F150. Says they went to dinner (Spanish restaurant) and neither had alcohol with dinner. He says that HE was acting happy and friendly on the date. Not distracted, not upset at all.

After dinner rode around and talked. He taught her how to drive a stick, manual transmission. Mall parking lot. It was closed and empty parking lot.

Objection by Defense to State Exhibit 1. It's the picture of her driving the truck. SS says he took the picture.

Took her inside apartment. Appeared like a girls apartment. Nothing out of the ordinary. Was there 5 minutes. No concerns when he left. Made plans to hang out next day at 3 pm.


Wasn't sure on time he left her but he was not there for any phone conversations between her and anyone else.

Texted her five times between the two of them when he got home. Wasn't concerned for Heather.

This poor kid. Got a lump in my throat when he said they had plans for 3PM the next day .

He took her home after they watched a movie at his mom's house. It's possible (he couldn't remember exact time) they arrived back to her apartment btwn 1:15-1:30 am. He went in at this time, appeared like a "typical 20 year old's apartment" Nobody else was in there, he only spent 5 mins there, nothing caused him to be concerned leaving her. They had plans to meet up the next day at 3:00 pm. He said he went home after he dropped her off. He was NOT present during the 4 minute phone call. State establishing that SS left before HE had the 4 minute call (at her apartment) He sent her 5-6 texts when he got home and they talked 5-6 minutes. He was at home sending the texts. Says he didn't leave home until 9:30am the next day.

First witness of the day is Stefan Schiraldi. He said he knew Heather Elvis unofficially while they were in school together. He then went on a date with Elvis on Dec. 17, 2013.

The witness testified he picked Elvis up at her apartment for the date at 7 p.m., on Dec. 17, 2013.

Schiraldi said he and Elvis had dinner at Banditos in downtown Myrtle Beach off Ocean Boulevard. He described Elvis as happy and friendly, and didn't seem distracted.

After dinner, he and Elvis drove around for a while and then went to the empty parking lot at Inlet Square Mall, where he taught her how to drive his truck, which had a manual transmission. They then went back to his mother's house where he was staying and watched a movie. Schiraldi then said he took Elvis home around 1:15 or 1:30 a.m.

The witness said he went inside Elvis' apartment for about five minutes. They made plans to hang out the next day when he got off work around 3 p.m.

Schiraldi testified he didn't leave his mom's house until 9 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2013 when he went to work. He tried to call Elvis and send her a Facebook message, but never heard back from her. He said he assumed Elvis was busy and would get back to him.

On cross examination by the defense, the witness testified that, to the best of his knowledge, he was the last person to lay eyes on Heather Elvis.

Defense implying he knew Heather and Heather didn't know him. This poor guy.

I know it's his job- but he's just so transparent wanting to pin it on this guy.
